- Step 2: Attach one ring section (D) to the fire pit (C) using two bolts (J). Loosely tighten the bolts.
- Step 3: Repeat Step 2 for the remaining two ring sections (D). Ensure all three ring sections fit together to form a continuous ring. Tighten all bolts securely.
- Step 4: Thread the three cooking grate pins (G) into the nuts welded on the inside of the fire pit (C). Do not overtighten.
- Step 5: Place the spark guard (A) onto the cooking grate pins (G). The spark guard is used to keep sparks contained within the fire pit. Use at all times.
- Step 6: Before use, place 5 lbs of sand on the bottom of the fire pit (C). The sand insulates the area below the pit and protects against the corrosive nature of ashes.
Helpful Hints for Usage
- Adding sand to the bottom of the Big Sky helps protect against the corrosive nature of ashes and will extend the life of the pit.
- Burn your Big Sky three times before using to cook on.
- If not using for a long period, store away from weather and elements.
- Do not let your Big Sky fill with water.
- Do not dump ashes where they could start a fire.
- Dispose of ashes in a proper receptacle only after ashes have cooled.
Cooking Grate Usage
If you wish to grill, place the cooking grate (B) on the cooking grate pins (G). Please note: Remove the cooking grate when not grilling.
Sandpaint Finish
Note: Since the heat intensity from the fires will vary depending on the type and amount of fuel used, you may experience minimal peeling or flaking of the paint. This is normal and will not affect the safety or performance of this fire pit.
