Warnings
Radio Waves
Radio waves may affect electronic devices or medical devices (e.g., pacemakers), potentially causing malfunction or damage. If you use a pacemaker or other medical device, consult your doctor or the manufacturer of your medical device before using wireless functions (Bluetooth® and Wireless LAN). Do not use wireless functions in areas where wireless networks are prohibited (e.g., hospitals) or near fire alarms, automatic doors, or other automated equipment.
Magnets and Medical Equipment
This product contains magnets that may interfere with pacemakers, defibrillators, programmable shunts, or other medical devices. Do not place this product near or use it by individuals who use these medical devices. Consult a doctor before using this product if you use such medical devices.
Volume Levels
Listening at excessive volumes with headphones or earphones may cause permanent hearing loss. Adjust the volume to a safe level. Continuous listening, even at gradually increasing loud volumes, may sound normal but can still damage hearing. If you experience ringing in your ears or any discomfort, stop using the headphones immediately and consult a doctor. Higher volumes affect hearing more quickly. To protect your hearing:
- Avoid setting the volume too high when using headphones or earphones.
- Avoid increasing the volume to block out surrounding noise.
- Lower the volume if you cannot hear people speaking nearby.
About the Lithium-ion Battery
The controller contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Do not handle damaged or leaking lithium-ion batteries. If the internal battery leaks, stop using the product immediately and contact PlayStation customer service. If the substance gets into your eyes, do not rub; rinse immediately with clean water and seek medical attention. If the substance contacts skin or clothing, rinse the affected area with clean water and seek medical attention. Do not expose the battery to fire or extreme temperatures (e.g., direct sunlight, hot vehicles, near heat sources). Do not attempt to open, crush, heat, or ignite the controller or battery. Do not charge the battery for extended periods when the controller is not in use.
Child Injury
Keep out of reach of children. Small parts may be swallowed, and connecting cords can cause entanglement, leading to injury or accidents.
Do not disassemble or modify the product or accessories unless explicitly instructed in this manual, as this may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
Precautions Before Use
Rest Periods
Avoid prolonged continuous use. It is recommended to take a 15-minute break for every hour of play. Avoid playing when tired or needing sleep. If you start to feel fatigued, or experience discomfort or pain in your hands or arms while operating the controller, stop using the product immediately. If the condition persists, seek medical attention. If you experience any of the following health issues, stop using the product immediately. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention:
- Dizziness, nausea, fatigue, or symptoms similar to motion sickness.
- Discomfort or pain in any part of your body, such as eyes, ears, hands, or arms.
Vibration Function
If the controller is placed on a flat surface, its vibration during gameplay may cause it to fall, leading to injury or malfunction. Do not use the vibration or trigger effect functions if you have any medical conditions or injuries affecting bones, joints, or muscles in your hands or arms, or if these functions may affect you. To enable or disable these functions, go to [Settings] > [Accessories] on the PlayStation®5 console home screen.
Static Discharge
When using headphones or earphones in dry climates, you may experience a slight, brief tingling sensation in your ears. This is not a malfunction of the headphones or earphones but is caused by static electricity discharged from your body. Wearing clothing made from materials that are less prone to static discharge can reduce the impact of these effects.
Motion Sensor
When using the controller's motion sensor functions, be mindful of the following. The controller may cause accidental injury or damage if it strikes a person or object. Ensure you have sufficient space to move around before using motion sensor functions. Grip the controller firmly to prevent it from slipping out of your hands and causing damage or injury. When using the controller connected to the PS5™ console via a USB cable, ensure there is enough slack in the cable to prevent it from striking a person or object.
Light Bar
Do not stare directly at the controller's light bar when it is flashing. Stop using the controller if you feel discomfort or pain.
Liquids, Dust, Smoke, Steam, and Heat
Ensure that no liquids, excessive dust, or small particles enter the product or its ports. Do not place the product in the following locations during use, storage, or transport: areas exposed to smoke or steam; areas with extreme humidity, dust, or cigarette smoke; areas near heating equipment, exposed to direct sunlight, or subject to continuous heat.
Setup and Maintenance
Do not use damaged or modified cables. Do not place heavy objects on the product or cables, throw or drop the product, or subject it to strong external impacts. Do not place the product on unstable, tilted, or vibrating surfaces. Do not place the product on the floor. Do not step on or squeeze cables, especially near the ports. Do not pull or bend cables excessively. Do not place the console and connected accessories where they can be tripped over. Do not touch ports or insert any foreign objects into them or the product. Disconnect cables if you wish to clean, move, or if you plan not to use the product for an extended period. Do not touch the product during thunderstorms. Do not expose the product, accessories, or batteries to high temperatures, extreme humidity, or direct sunlight during operation, transport, and storage.
Use and Care
Do not disassemble or modify the product or accessories unless explicitly instructed in this manual. Always follow the instructions in this manual when using the product and accessories. Unauthorized disassembly or modification of the product and its circuit structure is prohibited. Unauthorized modification will void the manufacturer's warranty.
Controller Maintenance
Charge the battery within the temperature range of 10°C to 30°C. Charging in other temperature environments may be ineffective. The battery has a limited lifespan. Battery life (usage time) will decrease with repeated use. Battery life may vary depending on storage methods, usage conditions, environment, and other factors. When the controller is not used for a long time, it is recommended to perform a full charge at least once a year to maintain battery performance.
Disposal of Wireless Controller
The lithium battery in the wireless controller is recyclable. When disposing of the wireless controller, remove the battery first and follow local regulations for proper disposal of waste batteries.
Caution:
- Risk of explosion if battery is replaced with an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.
- For safety, tape the metal parts of the battery before disposal.
Important:
- Remove the battery in a location inaccessible to children to prevent accidental swallowing of small parts like screws.
- When disassembling the controller's casing, be careful not to injure your fingernails or fingers.
- Never remove screws or the battery from the wireless controller, except when preparing to dispose of it.
Steps for Battery Removal:
- Unplug the USB cable from the wireless controller.
- Remove the top cover from the front of the wireless controller.
- Use a tool like a screwdriver to remove the L1 and R1 buttons.
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws (4 in total).
