Foxwell Quick Start Guide for Handheld Scanners
Vehicle Connection
1. Locate the data link connector (DLC) under the dash on the driver side of the vehicle.
2. Connect the diagnostic cable to the scanner and plug it into the vehicle DLC.
3. Switch the ignition key to the ON position.
4. Go to Main menu to choose diagnostic software to start test.
Diagnostic Operations
Before start diagnosis, please make sure:
- The ignition switch is turned to ON position.
- The engine is off.
- The vehicle battery voltage is between 10-14 volts.
- The scanner is correctly connected to the vehicle.
Important Note: Don't connect or disconnect the equipments while the ignition is on or the engine is running.
- Establish communication with the vehicle via diagnostic cable.
- Identify the vehicle either by VIN reading or entering vehicle specifications manually. (Note: Select quick scan or manual selection if automatically read VIN is not applicable to your car.)
- Find the control modules installed in the vehicle either by Quick Scan or manual selection.
- Start the tests and make records of test data when necessary.
Register and Update Via Client
Visit www.foxwelltech.us and click 'Support' on the home page. Navigate to the support page, click 'Tools', and download the update client for your product.
Unzip the downloaded file and run the installer to install the update client on your computer.
Open the update client, click the 'Register' button, and follow the on-screen prompts to register for a FOXWELL ID.
After connecting the scanner to your PC via USB cable, click 'Update' in the scanner. Alternatively, insert the SD card using an SD card reader (recommended).
To Print Test Results
Vehicle test results stored on the SD card can be printed via a computer. Test data can only be imported to your computer through FoxAssist; it cannot be copied directly from the SD card.
- Connect the scanner to the computer with the USB cable provided.
- Launch the FoxAssist and log in with your Foxwell ID.
- Click 'Data Management' to view all stored test results.
- Choose the files you want to print and click the 'Print' button.
FAQs
Why is the serial number invalid during registration?
Ensure you are using the correct website: www.foxwelltech.us or the product-specific link: https://www.foxwelltech.us/products.html. Download the correct update tool, FoxAssist. Uninstall unnecessary car diagnostic software via the FoxAssist's uninstall function. Download software in batches instead of all at once.
How to upgrade my OBD2 device quickly?
Upgrade via card reader instead of USB cable. Uninstall car diagnostic software that is not needed. Select software downloads in batches instead of all software during the upgrade process.
Did not receive the Verification Code?
Check your junk or Spam folder for the email. If not received, try requesting the code again by clicking 'Send code' on the registration page. Contact the seller via Amazon message with your scanner's serial number.
Why can't I clear error codes & service light?
Ensure the ignition key is switched to ON with the engine off to clear codes. DTCs can only be erased after correcting the conditions that caused them. Erasing codes does not fix the underlying problem.
