1.3 Safe use
WARNING – Risk of suffocation! Children may pull packaging materials over their heads or wrap themselves in them and suffocate. Keep packaging materials away from children. Do not let children play with packaging materials. Children may inhale or swallow small parts and thus suffocate. Keep small parts away from children. Do not let children play with small parts.
WARNING – Risk of poisoning! Drawn-in combustion gases can cause poisoning. Appliances that rely on the ambient air (e.g. gas, oil, wood or coal-fired heaters, instantaneous water heaters, water heaters) draw combustion air from the installation room and discharge the flue gases via an exhaust gas system (e.g. chimney) to the outside. When used in conjunction with an activated cooker hood, air is drawn from the kitchen and neighbouring rooms. Without sufficient air supply, a negative pressure is created. Poisonous gases from the chimney or the cooker hood can re-enter the living rooms. Always ensure sufficient air supply when using the appliance for ventilation simultaneously with a fuel-burning appliance that relies on ambient air. Safe operation is only possible if the negative pressure in the installation room of the appliance does not exceed 4 Pa (0.04 mbar). This is achieved when the necessary combustion air is replenished through non-lockable openings, e.g. in doors, windows, in conjunction with a ventilation grille/ventilation duct or other technical measures. A built-in ventilation grille/ventilation duct alone does not guarantee compliance with the limit value. In all cases, seek advice from the responsible chimney sweep, who can assess the overall ventilation system of the house and recommend the appropriate ventilation measure. If the appliance is used exclusively in recirculation mode, operation is possible without restriction.
WARNING – Risk of fire! Grease deposits in the grease filters can ignite. Never operate the appliance without the grease filter. Clean the grease filters regularly. Never work with an open flame near the appliance (e.g. flambé). Install the appliance near a solid fuel-burning appliance (e.g. wood or coal) only if the appliance has a closed, non-removable cover. No sparks must be generated. Hot oil and fat ignite quickly. Keep a constant eye on hot oil and fat. Do not extinguish burning oil or fat with water. Switch off the cooking appliance. Extinguish the flames carefully with a lid, a fire blanket or similar. Gas cooking appliances without cookware placed on them generate high heat during operation. A ventilation appliance installed above them can be damaged or catch fire. Only operate gas cooking appliances with cookware placed on them. In the case of simultaneous operation of several gas cooking appliances, high heat is generated. A ventilation appliance installed above them can be damaged or catch fire. Only operate gas cooking appliances with cookware placed on them. Set the fan to the highest setting. Do not operate two gas cooking appliances simultaneously with the largest flame for more than 15 minutes. Two gas cooking appliances correspond to a large burner. Do not operate the large burner with more than 5 kW on the highest flame, e.g. a wok pan.
WARNING – Risk of burns! Accessible parts/accessories become very hot during operation. Never touch hot parts/accessories. Keep children away. The appliance heats up during operation. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning.
WARNING – Risk of injury! Parts inside the appliance may be sharp. Clean the inside of the appliance carefully. Changes to the electrical or mechanical structure are dangerous and can lead to malfunctions. Do not make any changes to the electrical or mechanical structure. 1.4 Preventing material damage
CAUTION! Moisture can cause damage due to corrosion. Activate the appliance during cooking to prevent moisture build-up. If moisture penetrates the control elements, damage may occur. Never clean the control elements with a damp cloth. Incorrect cleaning causes surface damage. Observe the cleaning instructions. Do not use any harsh detergents or abrasive materials. Clean stainless steel surfaces only in the direction of the grain. Never clean the control elements with stainless steel cleaning agents. Condensate water returning can cause damage to the appliance. The ventilation duct on the appliance side must be installed with a slope of at least 1°. If you apply force incorrectly to the design elements, they may break. Do not pull on the design elements. Do not place or hang any objects on the design elements. Damage to the exterior surface from non-removed protective film. Before first use, remove the protective film from all parts of the appliance. 3 Environmental protection and economy
3.1 Disposal of packaging
Packaging materials are environmentally friendly and recyclable. Dispose of individual components separately according to their type.
3.2 Energy saving
If you follow these instructions, your appliance will consume less electricity. Adjust the fan speed to the intensity of the cooking vapours. A lower fan speed means lower energy consumption. Only use the intensive setting when necessary. In case of high cooking vapour intensity, select a higher fan speed in good time. Odours will spread less into the room. Switch off the lighting when it is no longer needed. When the lighting is switched off, it consumes no energy. Clean or replace the filters at the specified intervals. The efficiency of the filters is maintained. Place the cooking lid on. Cooking vapours and steam (condensation) are reduced. Use additional functions only when necessary. Switching off additional functions reduces power consumption.
4 Operating modes
You can use your appliance in ventilation or recirculation mode.
4.1 Ventilation mode
The extracted air is cleaned by the grease filters and discharged outdoors via a pipe system. The air must not be discharged into a chimney that is used for flue gases from appliances that run on gas or other fuels (this does not apply to recirculation appliances). If the contaminated air is to be discharged into a chimney that is not in operation, the approval of the responsible chimney sweep is required. If the exhaust air is discharged outdoors via the external wall, a telescopic, built-in duct must be used.
4.2 Recirculation mode
The extracted air is cleaned by grease filters and an odour filter and discharged back into the room. For odour retention in recirculation mode, an odour filter must be installed. For the various operating options of the appliance in recirculation mode, refer to our catalogue or contact your specialist dealer. You can find the necessary accessories at specialist dealers, customer service or in the Online Shop.
