Parking Assist System
Using the Parking Assist System
The parking assist system helps detect moving objects such as children and animals when they are at a dangerously close distance. Always exercise extreme caution when maneuvering.
Parking assist sensors may not detect certain obstacles.
- When reverse gear is engaged, the front and rear parking sensors are automatically activated, and the switch indicator illuminates. To manually activate the front sensors, press the parking assist system button. A short confirmation signal will sound, and the switch indicator will illuminate. To deactivate the system when active, press the button. The switch indicator will turn off.
The operating range of the parking assist system sensors varies in the front, rear, and corner areas of the vehicle.
Front sensors remain active until the vehicle speed exceeds 16 km/h (10 mph).
On vehicles with an automatic transmission, when shifting from reverse "R" to neutral "N", the front and rear sensors remain active.
When obstacles are detected in the path, the parking assist system emits an audible signal. The frequency of the signal increases as the vehicle approaches the obstacle and becomes constant when the distance to it is 300 mm (12 inches).
Note: The parking assist system for forward movement includes an audible warning when approaching an obstacle when moving forward or backward.
Cleaning the Sensors
When washing the vehicle, do not direct high-pressure water streams at the sensors. Do not use abrasive materials or hard/sharp objects to clean the sensors. Use only approved automotive shampoos.
Sensors must be kept clean to maintain accuracy and functionality.
Parking Assist System Malfunction
If a system malfunction is detected, a continuous high-pitched audible signal will sound, and the switch indicator will flash. Contact a dealer or authorized service center as soon as possible.
