1. Determine Floor Covering Compatibility
Flooring Type | Compatibility |
---|---|
Floor Tiles (Ceramic, Porcelain, Stone) | ✔ (Yes) |
Soft Floor Coverings (Vinyl, Linoleum, Carpet) | ✔ (Yes) |
Soft Floor Coverings (Cork) | ✖ (No) |
Wood Floors (Laminate Flooring, Engineered Wood) | ✔ (Yes) |
Wood Floors (Natural Hardwood) | ✖ (No) |
*Note: Some floor coverings require alternate spacing on an uncoupling membrane.
2. Calculate Surface Area to be Heated
Measure the total room surface area and subtract areas occupied by permanent fixtures (e.g., cabinets, bathtub, toilet). The remaining area is the surface to be heated.
Example Calculation:
Description | Dimensions (in.) | Surface Area (in.²) | Surface Area (ft²) |
---|---|---|---|
Total Room Surface Area | 143 x 112 | 16,016 | 111.2 |
Surface Area of Objects on Floor: | |||
Shower | 48 x 36 | 1,728 | 12 |
Bathtub | 60 x 32 | 1,920 | 13.3 |
Vanity | 60 x 22 | 1,320 | 9.2 |
Toilet | 12 x 24 | 288 | 2 |
Surface Area to be Heated | 10,760 | 74.7 |
*To convert square inches to square feet, divide by 144. For membrane installations, the calculated area is the same as the area to be tiled.
3. Choose Your Installation Type
With Cable Spacers (Included)
- Optimal heat dissipation
- Easy to install
- Cost-effective
- Heating-cable safe
With Uncoupling Membrane* (Sold Separately)
- Quick and easy installation
- Protects tiles against cracking and loosening
- Can replace the second sheet of plywood
- Ideal over concrete
4. Select Your Product
Choose the appropriate product code based on your installation type and the calculated surface area to be heated. The heating cable should never be cut, and the chosen cable's coverage should be less than the total area to be heated.

- Plan the Installation: Read the installation guide, determine thermostat location, prepare layout, and test the cable.
- Install the Cable: Install cable spacers (or membrane) and the heating cable.
- Install the Sensors: Install floor temperature sensors and run the cold lead to the connection box. Test the cable again.
- Cover the Cable: Cover the cable with a polymer-modified thin-set mortar or a self-leveling underlayment, depending on the installation method.
- Install the Floor Covering: Respect the cement product manufacturer’s recommended curing time (7 to 28 days) before turning the system on. Consult the technical datasheet.
