Bryton Rider 15 User's Manual
This manual guides you through the setup, features, and specifications of the Bryton Rider 15 cycling computer.

Bryton products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the New Zealand and Australian Consumer Laws. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Getting Started
This section will guide you on the basic preparations before you start using your Rider 15.
Rider 15 Key Functions
The Rider 15 features several buttons for operation:
- Power/OK [⏻]/[OK]: Press to turn the device on. Press and hold to turn the device off. In free cycling, press to start recording. When recording, press to stop recording. In Menu, press to confirm a selection.
- MENU [☰]: Press to enter/exit menu mode. Press to go back to the main menu. Long press to clear notification icons.
- Backlight/Page [☀️]/[▲]/[▼]: Long press to turn on/off the backlight. In Menu, press to move down to scroll through menu options. In Meter mode, press to switch meter screen pages.
Reset Rider 15
To reboot the Rider 15, press the MENU [☰] and OK [OK] buttons simultaneously.
Step 1: Charge your Rider 15
Connect the Rider 15 to a PC to charge the battery for at least 4 hours. Unplug the device when it is fully charged. The battery icon may blink when the battery is very low; keep the device plugged in until it is properly charged. The suitable temperature for charging is 0°C ~ 40°C. Charging will terminate outside this range, and the device will draw power from the battery.
Step 2: Turn On Rider 15
Press the Power/OK [⏻]/[OK] button to turn on the device.
Step 3: Initial Setup
When turning the Rider 15 on for the first time, a setup wizard will appear. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup, including selecting the unit of measurement and temperature.
Step 4: Acquire Satellite Signals
Once powered on, the Rider 15 automatically searches for satellite signals, which may take 30-60 seconds for the first use. The GPS signal icon [?] appears when GPS is fixed. An 'X' icon appears if the signal is not fixed. Avoid obstructed environments like tunnels, inside buildings, underwater, near high-voltage wires, or in heavy traffic areas, as these can affect GPS reception.
Step 5: Ride Your Bike with Rider 15
Free ride: In meter view, measurement starts and stops automatically with the bicycle's movement.
Record your data: In meter view, press [OK] to start recording and press [OK] again to stop.
Step 6: Share Your Records
Share Your Tracks to Brytonactive.com:
- Sign up at https://active.brytonsport.com and register a new account.
- Connect your Rider 15 to your computer via USB cable.
- On Brytonactive.com, click the '+' icon, then drop FIT, BDX, or GPX files, or click 'Select files' to upload tracks. Check your uploaded tracks under 'Activities'.
Share Your Tracks to Strava.com:
- Sign up or log in at https://www.strava.com.
- Connect your Rider 15 to your computer via USB cable.
- On Strava, click '+' on the top right corner, then 'File'. Select FIT files from your Bryton device, enter activity information, and click 'Save & View'.
Sync Data to Bryton Mobile App
Download the Bryton Mobile App from your device's app store or via the link: http://download.brytonsport.com/inst.html. Register a new account or use your existing Brytonactive.com account.
Pair Your Device with Bryton Mobile App
To sync data correctly, pair your Rider 15 with the Bryton Mobile App via Bluetooth:
- Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile phone.
- Power on your Rider 15.
- In the Bryton Mobile App, navigate to Settings > User Settings > Device Manager, tap '+', and choose 'Bluetooth 4.0'.
- Select and add your device by tapping '+', then 'Pair'. Confirm the UUID matches your device.
- Tap 'Finish' to complete pairing. The device will then upload tracks.
Upload Tracks with One Tap: After successful pairing, with Bluetooth enabled on both devices, activities will upload automatically by tapping the [BT Sync] icon in the Bryton Mobile App.
Download Bryton Update Tool
The Bryton Update Tool allows you to update GPS data, firmware, and maps. Download it from http://www.brytonsport.com/#/supportResult?tag=BrytonTool and follow the installation instructions.
Update GPS Data: It is recommended to update GPS data every 1-2 weeks for faster acquisition.
Update Firmware: Bryton periodically releases firmware updates for new functions and bug fixes. Update firmware when available, ensuring the USB cable remains connected during the process.
Settings
Customize your Rider 15 by adjusting Bike Profile, Tire Size, Altitude, Sensor Pairing, GPS System, Units, Hour format, Heading, and Odometer.
Bike Profile
Select and calibrate bike profiles. You can choose between 'Bike 1' or 'Bike 2'. The device will guide you through setting the tire size. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [OK] to select 'Bike', then [▲]/[▼] to choose bike profile and [OK] to confirm. Follow prompts to set tire size using [▲]/[▼] and [OK]. Press [MENU] [☰] to exit.
Calibrate Altitude
Set your current altitude. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'ALT', then [OK] to enter. Use [▲]/[▼] to adjust altitude values and [OK] to confirm. Press [OK] to exit.
Sensor Pairing
Pair Heart Rate [❤️], Speed [⚡], Cadence [?], and Dual Sensors. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'SYNC', then [OK]. Select the sensor type (Hr, SP, CA, SP-CA) and press [OK]. Wake sensors by wearing the heart rate strap or rotating the crank/wheel. The device will show 'YES' upon successful detection. Press [OK] to confirm pairing or [▲] then [OK] to cancel and retry. Press [MENU] [☰] to exit.
Note: Sensors can only be paired when awake. They go to sleep to preserve power.
Delete Records
Delete all records or make space for 8h, 16h, or 24h recording. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'DEL', then [OK]. Choose the deletion option (e.g., '>8h', 'ALL') and press [OK] to confirm. Press [MENU] [☰] to exit.
Notes: Rider 15 can record up to 120 hours in smart recording mode and 30 hours in 1-sec recording mode (requires Bryton Mobile App). Remaining recording time is shown in the Distance data field.
GPS System
The Rider 15 supports multiple GNSS systems: GPS, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS, and Galileo. Select GPS+GLO or GPS+BDS for enhanced accuracy based on your location. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'GPS', then [OK]. Select 'On' to enable satellite systems or 'OFF' to save power. Press [▲]/[▼] to choose GPS+GLO or GPS+BDS and press [OK] to confirm. Enabling these modes also activates QZSS and Galileo.
Unit
Set your unit of measurement to km/h or mi/h, and temperature to °C or °F. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'UNIT', then [OK]. Use [▲]/[▼] to select the measurement unit and [OK] to confirm. Then, use [▲]/[▼] to select the temperature unit and [OK] to confirm. Press [MENU] [☰] to exit.
Hour
Set the time format to 12-hour or 24-hour clock and adjust daylight saving time. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'HOUR', then [OK]. Use [▲]/[▼] to select the time format and [OK] to confirm. The device will then guide you through setting Daylight Saving Time using [▲]/[▼] and [OK]. Press [MENU] [☰] to exit.
Heading
The Heading function shows your current direction. Modes include Compass Mode (North) and Map Mode (current direction). Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'NE', then [OK]. Select 'Heading or Compass' and press [OK] to confirm. Press [MENU] [☰] to exit.
Adjust Odometer
Adjust the total mileage recorded. Press [MENU] [☰] to enter settings, [▲]/[▼] to select 'ODO', then [OK]. Use [▲]/[▼] to set the desired mileage and [OK] to confirm each digit. Press [OK] to confirm the total setting and [MENU] [☰] to exit.
Bryton App Advanced Settings
After pairing with the Bryton Mobile App, you can access advanced settings like Grid Setting and Altitude Calibration.
Grid Setting
Customize your data pages, set Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) and Lactate Threshold Heart Rate (LTHR), turn Smart Pause on/off, and set Data Recording preferences.
- Pair Rider 15 with Bryton Mobile App: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. In the Bryton Mobile App, go to Settings > User Settings > Device Manager, tap '+', choose 'Bluetooth 4.0', select your device, tap 'Pair', and then 'Finish'.
- Customize Your Data Page: In the App, go to Settings > Grid Setting. Tap 'OK' to connect to Rider 15. Choose 'Manual' for customization or 'Auto' for default. Adjust grid numbers and tap data grids to change displayed data.
- Enter Your MHR and LTHR: Tap the settings icon [⚙️] and enter your MHR and LTHR values.
- Turn On/Off Smart Pause: Toggle the Smart Pause option.
- Set Data Recording: Configure your desired data recording settings.
- Sync New Settings to Rider 15: Tap the back arrow [<] and select 'Sync' to apply changes.
Altitude Calibration
Calibrate altitude using internet connection via the Bryton Mobile App or manually.
- Pair Rider 15 with Bryton Mobile App: Follow the same pairing steps as for Grid Setting.
- Calibrate Your Altitude: In the App, tap 'Alt. Cal'. Allow location access for current altitude information. The app displays your current altitude; you can make manual changes using [▲]/[▼] or by tapping the number. Tap 'Calibrate' to accept suggested changes. Tap 'OK' to connect to Rider 15 and then 'OK' again to calibrate. 'Calibration Successful' will appear.
Notification
Receive phone call [?], text [✉️], and email [?] notifications on your Rider 15 via Bluetooth Smart. Follow the pairing steps for iOS or Android phones. Ensure notifications are enabled in your phone's settings and within the Bryton app. Long press [MENU] [☰] to clear notification icons.

Battery Information
Smart Speed Sensor and Smart Cadence Sensor: Both sensors use a user-replaceable CR2032 battery. To replace the battery:
- Locate the circular battery cover on the back of the sensor.
- Press and twist the cover counter-clockwise until the indicator points to the unlock icon [?].
- Remove the cover and battery tab.
- Insert the new battery with the positive connector first.
- Press and twist the cover clockwise until the indicator points to the locked icon [?].
Note: Cadence or speed values may blink when sensors have low power. Ensure correct battery installation (positive connector first) to avoid damage. Be careful not to damage the O-ring gasket. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
Smart Heart Rate Monitor: Contains a user-replaceable CR2032 battery. To replace:
- Locate the circular battery cover on the back of the monitor.
- Use a coin to twist the cover counter-clockwise.
- Remove the cover and battery.
- Insert the new battery with the positive connector facing upward and press gently.
- Use a coin to twist the cover clockwise.
Note: Heart rate values may blink when the sensor has low power. Be careful not to damage the O-ring gasket. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
Install Rider 15
Use Bike Mount to Mount Rider: Follow the diagrams to attach the Rider 15 to your bike's handlebars.
Use F-Mount to Mount Rider (Optional): Follow the diagrams for optional F-Mount installation.
Install the Speed/Cadence Sensor (Optional)
Follow the diagrams to install the Smart Cadence Sensor on the crank arm and the Smart Speed Sensor on the wheel hub. Sensors blink twice when woken and continue blinking during pairing. They enter sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Install Heart Rate Belt (Optional)
Attach the strap and electrodes to the heart rate belt. Wear the belt directly on your body, slightly below the chest, with the Bryton logo facing upward. Tighten the elastic belt firmly. If the sensor is not detected or readings are abnormal, warm up for about 5 minutes. Remove the sensor if the belt is not used for a period. Note: Improper battery replacement can cause explosion; use only the specified battery type. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

Basic Care For Your Rider 15
Taking good care of your device will reduce the risk of damage:
- Do not drop your device or subject it to severe shock.
- Do not expose your device to extreme temperatures and excessive moisture.
- The screen surface can easily be scratched. Use non-adhesive screen protectors to help protect the screen from minor scratches.
- Use diluted neutral detergent on a soft cloth to clean your device.
- Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify your device, as this will invalidate the warranty.
Data Fields
BLE sensors or the Bryton Mobile App are required to display some data fields:
- Time: Current GPS Time.
- Ride Time: Time spent riding for the current activity.
- Trip Time: Total time recorded, including pauses.
- Distance: Distance traveled for the current activity.
- Odometer: Accumulated total distance until reset.
- Distance 1, Distance 2: Cumulative mileage recorded before reset, used for separate measurements (e.g., weekly/monthly distance). Requires Bryton Mobile App.
- Speed: Current rate of change in distance.
- Average Speed: Average speed for the current activity.
- Maximum Speed: Maximum speed for the current activity.
- Cadence: Pedaling rate. Requires compatible BLE cadence sensor.
- Average Cadence: Average cadence for the current activity.
- Maximum Cadence: Maximum cadence for the current activity.
- Heart Rate: Heartbeats per minute. Requires compatible HR sensor.
- Heart Rate Zone: Current heart rate range.
- Average Heart Rate: Average heart rate for the current activity.
- Maximum Heart Rate: Maximum heart rate for the current activity.
- LTHR: Average heart rate during intense exercise where lactate concentration increases exponentially.
- LTHR%: Current heart rate divided by Lactate Threshold Heart Rate.
- LTHR Zone: Current range of your LTHR.
