Bryton Rider 15 User's Manual
Getting Started
This section will guide you on the basic preparations before you start using your Rider 15.
Rider 15 Key Functions
The Rider 15 features several key buttons for operation:
- Power/OK (▲/■): Press to turn the device on. Press and hold to turn the device off. In free cycling, press to start recording. When recording, press to stop recording. In Menu, press to confirm a selection.
- MENU (►): Press to enter/exit menu mode. Press to go back to the main menu. Long press to clear notification icons.
- Backlight/Page (▼/▲): Long press to turn on/off the backlight. In Menu, press to move down to scroll through menu options. In Meter mode, press to switch meter screen pages.
Reset Rider 15: To reboot the Rider 15, press the MENU (►) and OK (■) buttons simultaneously.

Status Icons
Various icons indicate the device's status:
- Bike Type: 🚴 Bike 1, 🚵 Bike 2
- GPS Signal Status: 🚫 No GPS Signal, 🚬 Weak GPS signal, 🚭 Strong GPS signal (GPS+Galileo+QZSS+Glonass), 🚮 (GPS+Galileo+QZSS+Beidou)
- Power Status: 🔋 Full battery, 🔌 Half battery, 🔍 Low battery
- Notification: ✉ Incoming Call, @ E-mail, 📁 Message
- Settings: DST (Daylight Saving), Backlight, AM (Morning), PM (Afternoon), N (North), Heading.
- Data Field: Gradient (∆), Altitude Gain (∆↑), Altitude Loss (∆↓), Ride Time (🕒), Trip Time (🕒🕒), Cadence Value (🚳), Heart Rate Value (❤), Odometer (🛠), Distance (🛠), Distance 1 (🛠1), Distance 2 (🛠2), Maximum (🔻), Average (🔺).
- Specific Data Field: Heart Rate Zone (🔴), Maximum Heart Rate (🔴🔻), Lactate Threshold Heart Rate (🔵).
- Sensor Pairing: Heart Rate Sensor Paired (❤🛠), Speed Sensor Paired (🛠🛠), Cadence Sensor Paired (🚳🛠), Recording (●), Auto Pause (●), Bluetooth Connected (💩).
NOTE: Only active icons are displayed on the screen. The device battery icon (🔍) blinks when the battery is low. Sensor icons (❤, 🛠, 🚳) blink when paired sensors are not within connection range.
Step 1: Charge your Rider 15
Connect the Rider 15 to a PC to charge the battery for at least 4 hours. Unplug the device when it is fully charged.
- The battery icon may blink when the battery is very low. Keep the device plugged in until it is properly charged.
- The suitable temperature for charging is 0°C to 40°C. Charging will terminate outside this range, and the device will draw power from the battery.

Step 2: Turn On Rider 15
Press the ▲ button to turn on the device.
Step 3: Initial Setup
When turning the Rider 15 on for the first time, a setup wizard appears. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. This includes selecting the unit of measurement and temperature.
Step 4: Acquire Satellite Signals
Once powered on, the Rider 15 automatically searches for satellite signals. This may take 30 to 60 seconds for the first use. The GPS signal icon (🚭) appears when GPS is fixed. If not fixed, a different icon appears. Avoid obstructed environments like tunnels, indoor areas, underwater, near high-voltage wires, or heavy traffic areas, as these can affect GPS reception.
Visuals show examples of environments that can affect GPS reception: Tunnels, Inside rooms, building, or underground, Under water, High-voltage wires or television towers, Construction sites and heavy traffic.
Step 5: Ride Your Bike with Rider 15
- Free ride: In meter view, measurement starts and stops automatically with the bicycle's movement.
- Start an exercise and record your data: In meter view, press ■ to start recording, and press ■ again to stop.
Step 6: Share Your Records
Share Your Tracks to Brytonactive.com
- Sign up Brytonactive.com: Go to https://active.brytonsport.com and register a new account.
- Connect to PC: Turn on your Rider 15 and connect it to your computer via USB cable.
- Share Your Records: Click "+" on the upper right corner, drop FIT, BDX, GPX files, or click "Select files" to upload tracks. Click "Activities" to check uploaded tracks.
Share Your Tracks to Strava.com
- Sign up/log in on Strava.com: Go to https://www.strava.com and register or log in with your existing account.
- Connect to PC: Turn on your Rider 15 and connect it to your computer via USB cable.
- Share Your Records: On the Strava page, click "+" on the top right corner, then click "File". Click "Select Files" and choose FIT files from your Bryton device. Enter activity details and click "Save & View".
Auto Sync Tracks to Bryton Active App
Connect your Rider 15 via Bluetooth to easily upload recorded tracks. To ensure correct data syncing, pair your device with the Bryton mobile app first.
- Download the Bryton Active App from the Google Play Store or App Store, or scan the QR code. Log in or create an account.
- In the Bryton Mobile App, navigate to Settings > Device Manager > + > Rider 15 to add your GPS device.
- Verify that the UUID shown on the app matches your device. Add "Yes" to confirm. If the UUID is incorrect, press "NO" to rescan.
- Once successfully added, tracks will begin uploading from the paired device.
NOTE: Bryton Active App syncs with Brytonactive.com. Use the same account for both services.
Download Bryton Update Tool
The Bryton Update Tool allows you to update GPS data, firmware, and download Bryton Test and maps. Visit http://www.brytonsport.com/#/supportResult?tag=BrytonTool to download the tool and follow the on-screen instructions for installation.
- Update GPS Data: Regularly updating GPS data (every 1-2 weeks) can speed up GPS acquisition.
- Update Firmware: Bryton releases firmware updates to add features or fix bugs. It is recommended to update firmware when available. Firmware updates may take longer to download and install. Do not remove the USB cable during the update process.
NOTE: GPS data and firmware can also be updated via the Data Sync function. Refer to page 9-11 for details on syncing data to the Bryton Mobile App.
Settings
The Settings menu allows customization of Bike Profile, Tire Size, Altitude, Sync (Sensor Pairing), Device Storage, GPS, Unit of Measurement, Unit of Temperature, Hour, Daylight Saving, Heading, and Odometer.
Bike Profile
Select and calibrate your preferred bike profile.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ■ to enter Bike setting.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "Bike 1 or Bike 2" and press ■ to confirm.
- The device will guide you through adjusting Tire Size. Use ▲/▼ to select digits and ■ to confirm and move to the next digit. Press ► to exit if no changes are needed.

- After setting, press ■ to confirm and return to the main menu, then press ► to exit.
Calibrate Altitude
Set the altitude for your current location. The altitude value on the meter mode will update automatically.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "ALT" and press ■ to enter Altitude setting.
- Use ▲/▼ to select the desired altitude value and press ■ to confirm and move to the next digit. Repeat for all digits.

- After completing the setting, press ■ to confirm and press ► to exit menu.
Sensor Pairing
Pair Heart Rate Sensor, Speed Sensor, Cadence Sensor, and Dual Sensor with your Rider 15.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "SYNC" and press ■ to enter the setting.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "Hr, SP, CA or SP-CA" and press ■.
- Wake up the sensors by wearing the Heart Rate Sensor or rotating the crank and wheel a few times.
NOTE: Sensors can only be paired when awake; they go to sleep to preserve power.
- Wait for pairing. If "YES" appears, it means a sensor is detected. Press ■ to confirm pairing. Press ▲/▼ to select "NO" and press ■ to cancel and pair again.
- After pairing, press ► to exit the menu.

NOTE: Keep away from other BLE sensors during pairing. After pairing, Bryton devices automatically connect to Bryton Smart Sensors when they are awake.
Delete Records
Delete all records or make space for 8h, 16h, or 24h recording.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "DEL" and press ■ to enter.
- Press ▲/▼ to select ">8h, >16h, >24h or ALL" to delete records.
- Press ■ to confirm selection.
- Press ► to exit menu.

NOTE: The Rider 15 can record up to 120 hours in smart recording mode or 30 hours in 1-sec recording mode (requires Bryton Mobile App to switch). Remaining recording time can be viewed in the Distance data field. The >8h, >16h, or >24h options are for making space when storage is low.
GPS System
The Rider 15 supports full GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), including GPS, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS, and Galileo. You can select GPS+GLO or GPS+BDS modes for enhanced accuracy based on your location.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "GPS" and press ■ to enter.
- Press ▼ to select "On" for satellite systems, or "OFF" to save power when GPS is not needed (e.g., indoor use).
- Press ▲/▼ to select GPS+GLO or GPS+BDS and press ■ to confirm.
GPS+BDS: Recommended for the Asia-Pacific region.
GPS+GLO: Recommended for regions outside Asia-Pacific for global coverage and precision.

NOTE: Enabling GPS+GLO or GPS+BDS also activates QZSS and Galileo satellites.
Unit
Set your unit of measurement to km/h or mi/h, and your unit of temperature to °C or °F.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ■ to enter "UNIT" setting.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "km/h or mi/h".
- Press ■ to confirm selection.
- The device will guide you to adjust the unit of temperature.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "°C or °F".
- Press ■ to confirm selection.
- Press ► to exit menu.

Hour
Set the time format to 12-hour or 24-hour clock and adjust daylight saving time.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "HOUR" and press ■ to enter HOUR setting.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "12h or 24h" and press ■ to confirm selection.
- The device will guide you through adjusting Daylight Saving Time. Use ▲/▼ to select the desired setting and ■ to confirm and move to the next digit. Repeat for all digits. Press ► to return to the main menu if no changes are needed.

- After completing the settings, press ■ to confirm and return to the main menu, then press ► to exit menu.
Heading
The Heading function indicates your current direction. The Rider 15 offers two display modes: Compass Mode (points North) and Map Mode (points to current direction).
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "NE".
- Press ■ to enter "NE" setting.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "Heading or Compass".
- Press ■ to confirm selection.
- Press ► to exit menu.

Adjust Odometer
Adjust the total mileage recorded on the odometer.
- Press ► to enter settings.
- Press ▲/▼ to select "ODO" and press ■ to enter odometer setting.
- Use ▲/▼ to select the desired setting and ■ to confirm and move to the next digit. Repeat for all digits.

Bryton App Advanced Settings
After pairing your Rider 15 with the Bryton Mobile App, you gain access to Grid Setting and Altitude Calibration.
Grid Setting
Customize your data pages, set MHR (Maximum Heart Rate), LTHR (Lactate Threshold Heart Rate), enable/disable Smart Pause, and configure Data Recording.
- Pair Rider 15 with Bryton Active App:
- Turn on Rider 15.
- Enable Bluetooth on your phone (Settings > Bluetooth).
- In the Bryton Mobile App, go to Settings > User Settings > Device Manager.
- Tap "+" and choose "Bluetooth 4.0".
- Select and add your device by pressing "+".
- Tap "Pair" to pair your device with your phone (for iOS only).
- Tap "Finish" to complete pairing.
- Customize Your Data Page:
- In the Bryton Mobile App, tap "Settings > Grid Setting".
- Tap "OK" to confirm connection to Rider 15.
- Choose "Manual" for custom settings or "Auto" for default.
- Tap left or right to change the number of grids.
- Tap 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to switch between data pages.
- Tap a data grid to change the displayed ride data.
- Enter Your MHR and LTHR: Tap ★ to enter settings, then tap the number next to MHR and LTHR to input your values.
- Turn On/Off Smart Pause: Tap the Smart Pause column to toggle the feature.
- Set Data Recording: Tap the Data Recording column to set your preferences.
- Sync New Settings to Rider 15: Tap the back arrow (<) in the upper left corner and select "Sync" to apply your new settings.
NOTE: To revert data grids to default, go to the Data Page, tap "Back to default settings?", and confirm with "Yes". For a step-by-step tutorial, visit Bryton Rider 15/10/one | Grid Setting with Bryton app.
Altitude Calibration
Connect to the internet, and the Bryton Mobile App can provide and calibrate altitude information directly. Manual adjustments are also possible.
- Pair Rider 15 with Bryton Active App: (Follow steps a-g as described in Grid Setting pairing).
- Calibrate Your Altitude:
- In the Bryton Active App, tap "Alt. Cal".
- Tap "Allow" to let the app use your current location for altitude information (for iOS).
- The app displays your current altitude. You can also make manual changes by pressing ▲/▼ or tapping the number.
- Tap "Calibrate" to accept suggested changes.
- The app scans for devices. Tap "OK" to connect to Rider 15.
- Tap "OK" to calibrate altitude data.
- "Calibration Successful" will appear; tap "OK" to confirm.

Notification
Pair your smartphone via Bluetooth Smart to receive phone call, text, and email notifications on your Rider 15.
- iOS Phone Pairing: Follow steps a-g similar to the "Pair Rider 15 with Bryton Active App" section.
- NOTE: If notifications are not working, check your phone's notification settings for messages, emails, and social apps. Long press MENU to clear notification icons. For a tutorial, see Bryton Rider15/10/one | Notifications setup (iOS).
- Android Phone Pairing: Follow steps a-f similar to the "Pair Rider 15 with Bryton Active App" section.
- Allow Notification Access: In the app, go to Settings > User Settings > Notification. Tap "OK" to allow notification access for the Bryton app. Tap "Bryton" and select "OK". Go back to Notification settings and enable In-coming Calls, Text Messages, and Emails.

Battery Information
Smart Speed Sensor and Smart Cadence Sensor: Both sensors use a user-replaceable CR2032 battery.
Before using sensors:
- Locate the circular battery cover on the back of the sensors.
- Press and twist the cover counter-clockwise using your finger until the indicator points to the unlock icon (🔒).
- Remove the cover and battery tab.
- Press and twist the cover clockwise with your finger until the indicator points to the locked icon (🔓).
To replace the battery: Follow steps 1-4 above. NOTE: When installing a new battery, ensure the positive connector is inserted first to avoid damage. Be careful not to damage or lose the O-ring gasket. Contact your local waste disposal department for proper battery disposal.
Smart Heart Rate Monitor: Contains a user-replaceable CR2032 battery.
To replace the battery:
- Locate the circular battery cover on the back of the heart rate monitor.
- Use a coin to twist the cover counter-clockwise.
- Remove the cover and battery.
- Insert the new battery with the positive connector facing upward and press gently.
- Use a coin to twist the cover clockwise.

NOTE: Heart rate blinks when the sensor's battery is low. Be careful not to damage the O-ring gasket. Contact your local waste disposal department for proper battery disposal.
Install Rider 15
Use Bike Mount to Mount Rider:

Install the Speed/Cadence Sensor (Optional)
Diagrams illustrate the installation of the Smart Cadence Sensor on the crank arm and the Smart Speed Sensor on the wheel hub.
NOTE: Once sensors are woken, the LED blinks twice, then stops after about 15 blinks. If unused for 10 minutes, sensors enter sleep mode. Complete pairing while sensors are awake.
Install Heart Rate Belt (Optional)
Diagrams show the strap and electrodes of the heart rate belt and how to wear it on the chest.
NOTE: Wear appropriate clothing in cold weather. The belt should be worn directly on your body, with the Bryton logo facing upward. Tighten the elastic belt firmly. If the sensor is not detected or readings are abnormal, warm up for about 5 minutes. Remove the sensor from the belt if not used for a period.
NOTE: Improper battery replacement can cause explosion. Use only the original or specified battery type. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
For environmental protection, waste batteries should be collected separately for recycling or special disposal.
Wheel Size and Circumference
The wheel size is marked on both sides of the tires. The following table lists common wheel sizes and their corresponding circumferences in millimeters:

Basic Care For Your Rider 15
Proper care reduces the risk of damage to your device.
- Do not drop your device or subject it to severe shock.
- Do not expose your device to extreme temperatures or excessive moisture.
- The screen surface can scratch easily. Use non-adhesive screen protectors to prevent minor scratches.
- Clean your device with diluted neutral detergent on a soft cloth.
- Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device, as this will void the warranty.
Data Fields
BLE sensor connection to your device or the Bryton Mobile App is required to display certain data fields.
- Time: Current GPS Time.
- Ride Time: Time spent riding during the current activity.
- Trip Time: Total recorded time, including pauses.
- Distance: Distance traveled during the current activity.
- Odometer: Accumulated total distance until reset.
- Distance 1, Distance 2: Cumulative mileage recorded before reset. These are separate measurements, useful for tracking weekly or monthly distances. Requires Bryton Mobile App to enable.
- Speed: Current rate of distance change.
- Average Speed: Average speed for the current activity.
- Maximum Speed: Maximum speed for the current activity.
- Cadence: Current pedaling rate. Requires a compatible BLE cadence sensor.
- Average Cadence: Average cadence for the current activity.
- Maximum Cadence: Maximum cadence for the current activity.
- Heart Rate: Beats per minute. Requires a compatible HR cadence sensor.
- Heart Rate Zone: Current heart rate range.
- Average Heart Rate: Average heart rate for the current activity.
- Maximum Heart Rate: Maximum heart rate for the current activity.
- LTHR: Average heart rate during intense exercise when lactate concentration begins to increase exponentially.
- LTHR%: Current heart rate divided by Lactate Threshold Heart Rate.
- LTHR Zone: Current range of your LTHR.

RF Exposure Information (MPE)
This device complies with EU requirements and International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) limitations for public exposure to electromagnetic fields. To meet RF exposure requirements, operate this equipment at a minimum separation distance of 20 cm from the user.
