Vehicle Modifications: Please take into account that fitting panniers, crash bars, foot peg lowering kits (rider and pillion), Kickstand enlargement plate, front spoilers and engine guards may restrict the bike's lean angle!
Cable and Line Routing: If modifications are made to the fairing, stem, handlebar, fairing parts, etc., ensure that electrical wiring, brake lines, accelerator and clutch cables are refitted correctly. Check clearance, both sides with full steering lock. Ensure all functional parts have freedom of movement.
Electrical Work: Always disconnect the battery when working on the electrics! ⚠️
Protection: We recommend cutting protective film to size and applying it to impact areas that are likely to be chipped by stones.
Brake and Suspension: Work on the brake system and suspension should always be carried out in a workshop with appropriately trained personnel.
Luggage Load: The maximum load on luggage racks is 5 kg! Luggage racks ZegaPro TC is 10 kg!
Accessory Fitment: If other original accessories or aftermarket accessories are used, ensure clearance, fitment and do not come into contact with other parts!
Bolt Lubrication: Apply conventional lubricant to stainless steel bolts prior to assembly.
Documentation: PDF fitting instructions can also be downloaded from the Touratech webshop.
Assembly Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Mounting Area
This page illustrates the headlight area of the R1300GS. It shows two small plastic clips (labeled [Part 1] and [Part 2]) and a larger plastic component (labeled [Part 3]) that are part of the original headlight assembly or mounting points. The text indicates that both dismantling and fitting procedures for the left and right sides are identical. A "speed nut" is also shown, likely for securing one of the components.
Note: Dismantling of left and right side is identical.
Step 2: Attach Mounting Bracket
This page details the attachment of the mounting bracket to the motorcycle's front fairing. The bracket is secured using two M5 x 16 bolts and two M5 x 14 bolts. The diagram shows numbered components ([Part 1], [Part 2], [Part 3]) and indicates the use of "speed nuts" for fastening. The text confirms that fitting on the left and right sides is identical.
Note: Fitting of left and right side is identical.
Parts Used:
- 2x M5 x 16 bolts
- 2x M5 x 14 bolts
- Speed nuts [speed nut]
Step 3: Mount Headlight Protector
The main component is a clear Makrolon headlight protector. It attaches to the motorcycle's front fairing area using the previously mounted bracket. Fasteners include M6 x 12 bolts, M6 x 30 bolts, and a spacer. A symbol indicates that Loctite should not be used; conventional lubricant is recommended for stainless steel bolts.
Parts Used:
- Makrolon Headlight Protector
- Mounting Bracket (from Step 2)
- M6 x 12 bolts
- M6 x 30 bolts
- Spacer [spacer]
Note: ? [no-loctite-symbol] - Apply conventional lubricant to stainless steel bolts prior to assembly.
Step 4: Final Check
This page provides a final visual representation of the Makrolon headlight protector installed on the R1300GS motorcycle, viewed from two different angles. Ensure all components are securely fastened and the protector does not interfere with any motorcycle functions.
