On the Keyboard:

  • Select a channel for wireless Bluetooth.
  • Turn the selection dial to 1 (factory setting).

For connecting to a Windows-, Android-, or Chrome device:

Press the 'PC' connection key and hold it for three seconds.

For connecting to an Apple Macintosh, iPhone, or iPad:

Press the 'i' connection key and hold it for three seconds.

Now the LED next to the connection key will start blinking to indicate that you can now pair the keyboard with another device. The keyboard will now be in discovery mode for approximately three minutes.

On the Device:

On a Windows 7 computer: Click 'Devices and Printers' in the Start menu. Click 'Add a device' to display available wireless Bluetooth devices. Select the Logitech Keyboard K480 and click 'Next'. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.

On a Windows 8 computer: Click 'Settings' in the top right. Click 'Change PC settings'. Click 'PC and devices' and select Bluetooth. Select the Logitech Keyboard K480 and follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.

Note: When establishing a new wireless Bluetooth connection, an update of some resource files may be required. This update may continue even after the connection to the keyboard has been confirmed on your computer. Only use the keyboard for your computer once the status indicator next to the connection key lights up for five seconds. (Windows may take up to 20 minutes to complete updates.)

On a Mac OS X computer (10.9 or higher): Open System Preferences and click 'Keyboard'. Click 'Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard' to search for a keyboard in range. When the Logitech Keyboard K480 is found, click 'Continue'. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.

On a Chrome OS computer: Click the status area in the bottom right where your avatar is displayed. Select 'Bluetooth status' from the dropdown menu. Select the Logitech Keyboard K480 from the list of available wireless Bluetooth devices and click 'Connect'. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.

On an Android device: Tap 'Bluetooth' under 'Settings > Wireless & networks' and ensure it is turned on. When a list of wireless Bluetooth devices appears, select the Logitech Keyboard K480 and tap 'Next'. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.

On an iPhone or iPad (iOS): Navigate to 'Settings > Bluetooth'. (Ensure Bluetooth is turned on.) When a list of wireless Bluetooth devices appears, tap the Logitech Keyboard K480.

Note: If prompted for a PIN, enter the code on your Logitech Keyboard K480, not on your device's virtual keyboard.

Add More Devices

You can connect your Logitech Keyboard K480 to up to three wireless Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

Note: Before connecting another device, ensure you can input text on the device currently connected via Channel 1 without issues. If an active connection exists between the device and the keyboard, proceed with the following instructions.

On the Keyboard:

  • Select an unused channel for wireless Bluetooth.
  • If you have already connected the keyboard to a device via Channel 1, turn the selection dial to 2 or 3.

To complete pairing the keyboard with another computer, tablet, or smartphone, repeat the instructions under 'INITIAL SETUP > PAIR KEYBOARD WITH A DEVICE'.

Select Device

After pairing your keyboard with your devices, you can select a device you wish to use the keyboard with.

How to select a device:

Turn the selection dial to the channel you chose for connecting to your computer, tablet, or smartphone. The LED next to the assigned connection key will first blink slowly and then light up blue for five seconds to confirm the selection. You can now input text for the selected computer or mobile device using the keyboard.

Logitech Options (for PCs)

Logitech Options gives you more control over your keyboard, work more effectively, and learn its full benefits.

Logitech Options offers the following features:

  • Set up special keys to assign frequently used commands or custom key combinations.
  • Enable and disable keys (Caps Lock, Insert, and Windows key).
  • PC screen notification for active Caps Lock.
  • PC screen notification for low battery.

Logitech Preference Manager (for Mac OS X)

The Logitech Preference Manager allows you to optimize the use of special and function keys.

The Logitech Preference Manager offers the following features:

  • Use the top special keys as standard function keys (key combinations are still possible using the Fn key combined with one of the top row keys).
  • Mac screen notification for active Caps Lock.
  • Mac screen notification for low battery.

Switch Device

The keyboard can be connected to up to three devices simultaneously, but the number of computers, tablets, and smartphones you can use it with is unlimited. You can easily assign a different device to the three channels. (Reconnecting to a device is also not a problem.)

How to switch devices:

On the currently connected computer or mobile device, open the settings for a wireless Bluetooth connection and remove the keyboard from the list.

Note: The steps to remove a wireless Bluetooth device vary depending on the device type and operating system. For more information on removing a wireless Bluetooth device, refer to your computer's or mobile device's user manual.

Now follow the instructions under 'INITIAL SETUP > PAIR KEYBOARD WITH A DEVICE' to connect another computer or mobile device via the freed-up channel.

Multiple Keyboard Layouts in One

Thanks to its unique multi-function layout, the Logitech Keyboard K480 is compatible with the computer or mobile device currently in use. Colors for key labels and dividing lines make it easy to identify functions or symbols for specific devices or operating systems.

Key Label Colors

Grey labels are for functions exclusively available on Apple devices with Mac OS X or iOS.

White labels on grey circles are for symbols reserved for use with the Alt Gr key on Windows computers.

Split Keys

The two labels on the modifier keys to the left and right of the spacebar are divided by a line. The label above the line refers to the modifier sent to a Windows, Android, or Chrome device. The label below the line refers to the modifier sent to an Apple Macintosh, an iPhone, or an iPad. The modifiers for the currently selected device are automatically used.

Standard Keys

All other keys have the same functions assigned across all devices and operating systems.

Special Keys and Function Keys

The table below shows key combinations for Windows, Mac OS X, Android, and iOS. Note: Installation of Logitech Software is required for cells marked with an asterisk (*).

Function Keys

Use the function keys by holding down the Fn key and pressing the special key to which the function number and action are assigned. The table below lists special key combinations for each operating system.

If you use the function keys more often than the special keys, you can install the Logitech Software to configure the special keys as function keys, so you no longer need to hold down the Fn key. Note: Installation of Logitech Software is required for cells marked with an asterisk (*).

Battery Replacement

Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the On/Off switch and remove it. Replace the old batteries with two new AAA batteries and reinsert the battery compartment cover.

Compatible Devices

The Logitech Keyboard K480 is compatible with computers, tablets, and smartphones that feature wireless Bluetooth technology and support external keyboards.

Troubleshooting

Pairing the keyboard with my device does not work.

Your keyboard can only be connected to a device that features wireless Bluetooth technology. Ensure that the device you wish to pair with the keyboard can connect wirelessly via Bluetooth. Note: The Logitech Keyboard K480 is not compatible with a Logitech Unifying receiver that uses different wireless technology.

Restart the device and try connecting it to the keyboard again using the same or a different channel.

Note: On a Windows computer, new wireless Bluetooth connections may require additional software updates. This process may still be ongoing even if it was displayed as successfully completed. Restart the computer at least 20 minutes after pairing to ensure all updates are finished.

Ensure that the device is configured for wireless Bluetooth connections. (Windows)

Navigate to 'Bluetooth Devices > Open settings' and enable the following checkboxes:

  • Bluetooth devices can discover this computer
  • Bluetooth devices can connect to this computer
  • Notify me when a Bluetooth device wants to connect

Ensure that your computer, tablet, or smartphone is compatible with the Logitech Keyboard K480. (See COMPATIBLE DEVICES)

Make sure your computer, tablet, or smartphone supports an external keyboard (HID profile). Check your user manual or contact the device manufacturer.

My keyboard is not working.

Ensure the correct channel is selected.

Press any key to wake the keyboard from power saving mode.

Turn the keyboard off and on again.

Disable wireless Bluetooth and restart the computer. (Windows)

On the device: Navigate to Bluetooth connection settings and disable wireless Bluetooth. Restart the device and enable wireless Bluetooth.

Reconnect the keyboard.

  • Replace the keyboard batteries.
  • Ensure the keyboard is paired with the device.
  • Re-pair the keyboard with your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

On the device: Navigate to Bluetooth connection settings and remove the Logitech Keyboard K480 from the list. Disable wireless Bluetooth. Restart the device and enable wireless Bluetooth. Re-pair the keyboard with the device by following the steps described under 'INITIAL SETUP > PAIR KEYBOARD WITH A DEVICE'.

My keyboard is not working or is working intermittently.

If your device features wireless Bluetooth technology, the cause of this issue is likely an interrupted Bluetooth connection. The connection between the Logitech Keyboard K480 and a computer or mobile device can be interrupted due to various environmental factors.

  • Check the status of the keyboard batteries.
  • Ensure your keyboard is not placed on a metal surface, which can interfere with the wireless Bluetooth signal.
  • Ensure the wireless Bluetooth signal is not being interfered with by another wireless signal.
  • Interference may be caused by devices such as: wireless speakers, computer power adapters, monitors, mobile phones, and garage door openers.
  • Ensure a distance of at least 20 cm (approx. 8 inches) between the keyboard and the computer or mobile device.
  • Reduce the distance between the keyboard and the computer or mobile device.

My keyboard does not work after exiting power saving mode.

Change the power management settings of the Bluetooth adapter on your PC:

Navigate to 'Control Panel > System and Security > System > Device Manager'.

Under 'Bluetooth Radios', right-click the wireless Bluetooth adapter (e.g., Dell Wireless 370-Adapter) and click 'Properties'.

In the 'Properties' window, click the 'Power Management' tab and uncheck the box 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

Click 'OK' to save the setting and restart your PC.

The characters entered do not match the key labels.

Ensure you used the correct Bluetooth connection key for pairing the keyboard with your device.

If necessary, repeat the steps described under 'INITIAL SETUP > PAIR KEYBOARD WITH A DEVICE'.

When you select a paired device with the selection dial, the status indicator next to the connection key will start blinking. If you used the wrong connection key, re-pair the device by pressing and holding the correct connection key until its status indicator begins to blink.
