Troubleshooting
I can't pair the keyboard to my device.
Your keyboard only connects to Bluetooth-compatible devices. Confirm that the device you are trying to pair is Bluetooth-compatible. Note: The Logitech Keyboard K480 is not compatible with a Logitech Unifying receiver based on a different wireless technology.
Restart the device and try pairing it with the keyboard on the original channel or another channel.
Note: On a Windows computer, a new Bluetooth wireless connection may sometimes require additional software updates, a process that may still be in progress after a pairing success message is displayed. Wait at least 20 minutes after pairing to ensure all updates are complete before restarting the computer.
Verify that the device is configured to accept Bluetooth wireless connections. (Windows)
Go to Bluetooth Devices > Open settings and check the following boxes:
- Allow Bluetooth devices to detect this computer
- Allow Bluetooth devices to connect
- Notify me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect
Verify that your computer, tablet, or smartphone is compatible with the Logitech Keyboard K480. (See COMPATIBLE DEVICES.)
Ensure that your computer, tablet, or smartphone supports an external keyboard (HID profile). Consult the user manual provided with the device or contact the manufacturer.
My keyboard is not working.
- Verify that the correct channel is selected.
- Press a key on the keyboard to exit sleep mode.
- Turn the keyboard off and then on again.
- Disable Bluetooth and restart the computer. (Windows)
On the device:
Go to Bluetooth wireless connection settings and turn off Bluetooth.
Restart the device and turn on Bluetooth.
Reconnect the keyboard.
- Replace the keyboard batteries.

- Re-pair the keyboard and the computer, tablet, or smartphone.
On the device:
Go to Bluetooth wireless connection settings and "erase" the Logitech Keyboard K480.
Disable the Bluetooth wireless connection.
Restart the device and turn on Bluetooth.
Re-pair the device and the keyboard, following the steps in the FIRST-TIME SETUP section, "Pairing the keyboard and a device.".
My keyboard is not working or works intermittently.
If your device is Bluetooth-compatible, this problem is likely due to a lost Bluetooth wireless connection. Several environmental factors can cause a loss of connection between the Logitech Keyboard K480 and a computer or mobile device.
- Check the keyboard batteries.
- Ensure your keyboard is not placed on a metal surface that could interfere with a Bluetooth wireless signal.
- Verify that no other wireless source is interfering with the Bluetooth wireless signal.
- Wireless speakers, computer power supplies, monitors, portable phones, and garage door openers represent possible sources of interference.
- Ensure that other electrical devices are at least 20 cm (approx. 8 inches) away from your keyboard and computer or mobile device.
- Try moving the keyboard closer to the computer or mobile device.
My keyboard does not work after the connected PC wakes from sleep.
On the computer, modify the power settings for the Bluetooth wireless adapter:
Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Device Manager.
In Bluetooth Radios, right-click the Bluetooth wireless adapter (e.g., Dell Wireless 370 adapter) and click Properties.
In the Properties window, click the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.".
Click OK to save the settings and restart the computer.
The characters I type do not correspond to the key labels.
- Ensure you used the correct Bluetooth wireless connection button to pair the keyboard to your device.
Consult the instructions in the FIRST-TIME SETUP section, "Pairing the keyboard and a device.".
When you select a paired device using the selection dial, the indicator light next to the connection button used for pairing will blink. If you used the wrong connection button, re-pair the device by holding down the other connection button until its status light begins to blink.
