Epson ET-5800 Series Printer Setup
This guide provides instructions for setting up your Epson ET-5800 Series printer. Please read this guide carefully before proceeding.
Important Safety Information
This printer requires careful handling of ink. Ink may splatter when the ink tanks are filled or refilled. If ink gets on your clothes or belongings, it may not come off.
Do not connect a USB cable unless instructed to do so.
Setting Up the Printer
Refer to this guide or Epson video guides for printer setup instructions. For information on using the printer, see the User's Guide on the Epson website. Select 'Support' to access the manuals.
- Prepare Ink Bottles: Use the ink bottles that came with your printer. Epson cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-genuine ink. Remove the cap while keeping the ink bottle upright; otherwise, ink may leak.
- Fill Ink Tanks: Pour all of the ink from the bottle into the printer. Ensure the color of the ink tank matches the ink color you want to fill. Do not knock the ink bottle, otherwise, the ink may leak. If the ink does not start flowing into the tank, remove the ink bottle and try reinserting it. Do not leave the ink bottle inserted; otherwise, the bottle may be damaged or ink may leak.
- Initial Ink Charging: The initial ink bottles will be partly used to charge the print head. These bottles may print fewer pages compared to subsequent ink bottles.
- Load Paper: Load paper in the paper cassette with the printable side facing down. Set the paper size and type for the paper cassette.
- Software Installation: Install the software and configure network settings. Visit the Epson website to start the setup process.
- Fax Settings: Make the fax settings. You can change these settings later. If you do not want to make settings now, close the fax settings screen.
- Connect Phone Line: Connect a phone cable. If you want to share the same phone line as your telephone, remove the cap and then connect the telephone to the EXT. port.
Note: Additional items may be included depending on the location. Some models (ET-5885/ET-5855/ET-5850U/ET-5805) do not include a Windows CD-ROM.
Transporting the Printer
Follow the instructions for safely transporting the printer. Ensure all ink bottles are removed and the printer is properly secured before moving.
