Introduction

The Twelve South AirFly Pro 2 is a versatile Bluetooth transmitter and receiver designed to bring wireless audio to any device with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. It allows you to use your favorite wireless headphones or earbuds with sources like airplane entertainment systems, gym equipment, or home stereos.

Button Guide

The AirFly Pro 2 features several controls:

• ON/OFF Switch: Located on the side, used to power the device on or off.
• PAIR 1 Button: Used for pairing a device in both Transmit (TX) and Receive (RX) modes.
• PAIR 2 Button: Used for pairing a second device in Transmit (TX) mode.
• TX/RX Switch: Toggles between Transmit and Receive modes.
• Volume Controls (+/- buttons): Adjust audio volume, mute/unmute, and check battery life.

Powering On & Off

• To Turn ON: Slide the switch to "ON." The front light blinks white twice.
• To Turn OFF: Slide the switch to "OFF." The front light blinks amber twice.

Transmit (TX) or Receive (RX) Mode

AirFly Pro 2 can function in two modes:

Transmit Mode (TX)

Connects wireless headphones to devices with a headphone jack (e.g., airplane TVs, gym equipment). AirFly Pro 2 transmits audio from a wired source to your wireless headphones.

Receive Mode (RX)

Connects your phone or tablet wirelessly to an AUX-IN port. AirFly Pro 2 receives Bluetooth audio from your device and transmits it to a connected stereo system via the AUX-IN port (e.g., car stereo, home stereo).

Charging

It is recommended to fully charge the AirFly Pro 2 before first use. A full charge provides over 25 hours of use.

How to Charge:

1. Use the included USB-C to USB-A charging cable.
2. Plug the USB-C end into AirFly Pro 2.
3. Plug the USB-A end into any powered USB-A port (e.g., computer, wall adapter).

Charging Status:

• While charging, the amber light illuminates and remains on.
• Once fully charged (within 2 hours), the amber light turns off.

Battery Status Indicator

To check the battery level, double-click the Volume Up (+) button. The amber light blinks to indicate the remaining battery:

• 4 amber blinks: ~100%
• 3 amber blinks: ~75%
• 2 amber blinks: ~50%
• 1 amber blink: ~25%

When the battery is low (10% remaining), AirFly Pro 2 blinks amber three times every 10 seconds.

Pairing with AirPods

Follow these steps to pair your AirPods in Transmit Mode:

Step 1: Enter Pairing Mode on AirPods

• AirPods (all generations) or AirPods Pro: With AirPods in the charging case, open the lid and press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about five seconds, or until the status light flashes white.
• AirPods Max: Press and hold the noise control button for about five seconds, or until the status light flashes white.

Step 2: Initiate Pairing on AirFly Pro 2

• Turn on AirFly Pro 2. It will automatically enter pairing mode (PAIR 1 light blinks white and amber).
• If it doesn't, press and hold the PAIR 1 button for 4 seconds until the light blinks amber four times, then alternates between white and amber.

Step 3: Confirmation of Pairing

• AirPods case light turns green.
• AirFly Pro 2 PAIR 1 light illuminates white for 10 seconds.

Note: Initial pairing may take up to 90 seconds. AirFly Pro 2 remembers paired devices for faster future connections.

Step 4: Connect to an Audio Source

• Plug AirFly Pro 2 into the headphone jack of any device with a standard 3.5mm audio port.
• Enjoy wireless audio streaming to your paired headphones.

Pairing with Non-Apple Wireless Headphones

To connect other wireless headphones in Transmit Mode:

Step 1: Enter Pairing Mode on Wireless Headphones

Follow your headphones' owner's manual instructions to activate Bluetooth pairing mode.

Step 2: Initiate Pairing on AirFly Pro 2

• Turn on AirFly Pro 2. It will automatically enter pairing mode (PAIR 1 light blinks white and amber).
• If it doesn't, press and hold the PAIR 1 button for 4 seconds until the light blinks amber four times, then alternates between white and amber.

Step 3: Confirmation of Pairing

• AirFly Pro 2 PAIR 1 light illuminates white for 10 seconds.

Step 4: Connect to an Audio Source

Adding a Second Set of Headphones

Note: PAIR 2 function only works when one set of headphones is already paired and connected.

Step 1: Enter Pairing Mode on Headphones

• AirPods: Refer to page 7 for pairing instructions.
• Wireless Headphones: Refer to page 11 for pairing instructions.

Step 2: Enter Pairing Mode on AirFly Pro 2

Press and hold the PAIR 2 button for 4 seconds. The PAIR 2 light will blink amber four times, then alternate between white and amber, indicating it's in pairing mode.

Once the second set of headphones is successfully connected, the PAIR 2 light will illuminate white and remain on for 10 seconds.

Volume Control & Mute

Use the buttons on AirFly Pro 2 to control volume and mute:

Reconnecting Earbuds / Headphones

When AirFly Pro 2 is powered on, it automatically attempts to reconnect to the last two paired devices.

• One Device: Reconnection takes approx. 15 seconds.
• Two Devices: Reconnection may take up to 35 seconds.

Resetting AirFly Pro 2

To clear paired devices from memory:

1. Ensure AirFly Pro 2 is powered on.
2. Press and hold the PAIR 1 button for 4 seconds. This erases all paired devices.
3. AirFly Pro 2 will automatically re-enter pairing mode.

Reconnecting to Smartphone

If AirFly Pro 2 is paired with your headphones and you want to switch back to your smartphone:

1. Turn off AirFly Pro 2 to disconnect it from your headphones.
2. Open Bluetooth Settings on your smartphone (e.g., iPhone: Settings > Bluetooth).
3. Select your earbuds or headphones from the list of available devices.
4. Confirm the connection.

Using AirFly Pro 2 with an AUX-IN Port (Receive Mode)

To use AirFly Pro 2 in Receive Mode (RX):

Step 1: Turn on AirFly Pro 2

Slide the power switch to ON. The front light blinks white twice.

Step 2: Switch to Receive Mode (RX)

AirFly Pro 2 will blink white twice, and the PAIR 1 button will blink white and amber, indicating pairing mode. If not, press and hold PAIR 1 for 4 seconds.

Step 3: Pair AirFly Pro 2 with a Smartphone

1. Open Bluetooth settings on your smartphone.
2. Select "AirFly Pro 2" from the list of available devices under "Other Devices" to complete pairing.

Step 4: Connect to AUX-IN Port

After pairing your smartphone, insert AirFly Pro 2 into the AUX-IN port of your audio source (e.g., car stereo, home speaker system).
