Important Safeguards and Warnings

1. Electrical Safety

All installation and operation should conform to local electrical safety codes. Use a certified/listed 12VDC Class 2 power supply only. Note: Do not connect two power supplying sources to the device at the same time; it may result in device damage! The product must be grounded to reduce the risk of electric shock. Improper handling and/or installation could run the risk of fire or electrical shock.

2. Environment

Heavy stress, violent vibration, or exposure to water is not allowed during transportation, storage, and installation. This product should be installed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not install the product in extreme temperature conditions. Do not expose the camera to electromagnetic radiation, as this may result in CMOS sensor failure. Do not block any ventilation openings. Do not allow water and liquid intrusion into the camera.

3. Operation and Daily Maintenance

Please shut down the device and unplug the power cable before beginning any maintenance work. Do not touch the CMOS sensor optic component. Use a blower to clean dust on the lens surface. Always use a dry soft cloth to clean the device. If there is too much dust, use a cloth dampened with a small quantity of neutral detergent, then use a dry cloth to clean the device. Use a professional optical cleaning method for the enclosure; improper cleaning may result in poor IR functionality or IR reflection. Grounding holes are recommended to be grounded to enhance reliability. For dirt on the dome cover (an optical device), do not touch or wipe directly. Use an oil-free soft brush or hair dryer for gentle removal. For grease or fingerprints, use an oil-free cotton cloth or paper soaked with alcohol or detergent, wiping from the lens center outward. Change the cloth and wipe multiple times if necessary.

Applications

The following diagrams illustrate typical applications:

2. Web Access and Login

The IP camera settings can be accessed via a web browser through the LAN.

2.1 LAN

Access through IP Scanner

Network connection: An IP Camera connects to a Router/Switch, which then connects to a Web Browser on a PC.

Setup Steps:

  1. Ensure the camera and PC are on the same local network. The camera defaults to DHCP and will be assigned an IP address by the DHCP server. A DHCP server must be present on the local network (routers typically include one).
  2. Install and run the IP Scanner tool from the provided CD to discover IP cameras on the local network.
  3. The IP Scanner will list devices with their IP address, model number, and MAC address. Select the desired device and double-click to open the web viewer, or manually enter the IP address in the web browser's address bar.

When prompted, enter the default username 'admin' and password '1234'. After logging in, follow the on-screen directions to install necessary plug-ins for video viewing.

3. Live View

The live view window will be displayed after logging in. The interface includes controls for video stream selection, recording, zoom, and audio.

Live View Interface Controls

4. Camera Configuration

Access the configuration interface by pressing the "Setup" button. Remember to press "Save" to apply settings where applicable.

4.1 System

4.1.1 Upgrade

Update the device firmware via the "System" interface. Navigate to the firmware file, select it, and click "Upgrade". Do not close the browser window until the update is complete. Firmware files are available on the Speco website.

4.1.2 System Restart

The device can be restarted from this option.

4.1.3 Factory Default

Resets all settings to factory defaults, erasing any changes. It is recommended to back up current settings using the "Export" function before performing a factory reset.

4.1.4 Export / Import

Export: Download current system settings as a configuration file to a local PC.

Import: Update the device with saved settings from an exported file, useful after a factory reset. Browse to the file, select it, and click "Upload File".

4.1.5 Date / Time

Time Zone: Select the appropriate time zone. The system time updates automatically if connected to the internet.

Setup Time: If automatic time update fails, time can be adjusted manually by enabling the checkbox and changing the values.

4.1.6 System Log

View system logs detailing actions performed on the device, including IP addresses of logged-in PCs, dates, and times. Select a category, specify start and end times, and click "Search Logs" to retrieve entries.

4.1.7 System Information

Displays system information such as current firmware version, model number, and allows setting a device nickname. HTTP API Authentication and WSSE Authentication can be enabled for third-party integration if needed.

Network Information

Provides network details like IP address and MAC address.

4.2 Basic Setup

Configure video, audio, and image settings.

4.2.1 Video Setup

Adjust resolution, frame rate, and other video parameters per stream (main and two sub-streams). Available options include:

4.2.2 Image Setup

Adjust image settings like brightness, contrast, white balance, etc. Settings vary slightly by model resolution (e.g., 2MP, 2MP-F, 3MP).

4.2.3 Display

Configure on-screen display (OSD) elements on the video stream.

4.3 Network Setup

4.3.1 IP Address Setup

Configure IP address, subnet mask, and gateway. The device defaults to DHCP mode, automatically obtaining an IP address from the network. Static IP assignment is also available.

4.3.2 DNS

Enter DNS server addresses. This is not required if DHCP is used.

4.3.3 DDNS Client

Connect to Speco's DDNS server to assign a host name. Enable DDNS mode, enter a hostname (default uses the last 6 digits of the MAC address), and the system will register it.

4.3.4 NTP

Configure automatic date and time synchronization via an NTP server. The default server is "pool.ntp.org", but others can be entered manually. The Date/Time settings under System Setup utilize this NTP server.

4.3.5 FTP

Configure FTP server settings to store event images. Enter server address, user ID, password, port, file name prefix, and storage location. The date and time will be appended to the file name.

4.3.6 SMTP

Set up outgoing mail server details for sending email notifications with event images. Enter SMTP server address, port, SSL/TLS settings, authentication mode, sender's email address, and up to five receiver email addresses.

4.3.7 RTSP

Configure Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) settings for video streaming. The RTSP port can be changed (default is 554). Other advanced options are available but typically do not require modification from defaults.

4.3.8 SNMP

Enable SNMP for camera status, parameter, and alarm management. Install an SNMP management tool and configure SNMP port, trap address, community names (Read/Write), and version (SNMPv1/v2c or SNMPv3) to match the SNMP software.

4.3.9 Port Setting

Configure ports for various camera functions, including AV Stream, Event, Upgrade, HTTP, and HTTPS.

4.3.10 IP Filter

Control access based on IP addresses. Enable the filter and choose "All Accept" (allow only specified IPs) or "All Drop" (block only specified IPs). Rules can be added for specific IP addresses or ranges, up to 100 entries.

4.3.11 UPnP

Enable UPnP to automatically open network ports for easier access. A "Friendly Name" can be entered for the UPnP device.

4.4 Event Setup

4.4.1 Motion Detection

Configure motion detection zones and sensitivity. Higher sensitivity triggers alarms more easily. Define detection zones by dragging on the screen.

4.4.2 Tampering Alarm

Detects tampering events such as global scene changes or focus loss. Sensitivity can be adjusted.

4.4.3 Alarm in Mode

For devices with sensor inputs, select between "Normally Open" (NO) or "Normally Closed" (NC) alarm modes.

4.4.4 Notification

Configure how notifications are delivered for motion and tampering events.

4.5 User Admin

4.5.1 Password Change

Change the administrator account password.

4.5.2 User Account

Add or modify user accounts. Enter user ID and password to create or modify. Click on an account in the list and then "Delete" to remove it.
