This document provides essential safety, regulatory compliance, and operational information for the Datalogic Memor 12 device. It is an addendum to the Quick Start Guide (QSG).

For detailed product information, refer to the Datalogic website: www.datalogic.com.

General Safety Rules

CAUTION: Always read this addendum carefully before using the device and battery packs.

  • Use only Datalogic-supplied components and accessories for the specific Memor 12 model.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the Memor 12 device; it contains no user-serviceable parts. Tampering invalidates the warranty.
  • Dispose of battery packs and the device in compliance with local laws and regulations at the end of their operative life.
  • Do not submerge the Memor 12 in liquids.
  • Do not apply any stickers to the Memor 12.

Cleaning the Device

Periodically clean the Memor 12 using a soft cloth slightly dampened with water or Isopropyl Alcohol (70%). Do not use other cleaning agents (e.g., different alcohols, abrasive or corrosive products, solvents) or abrasive pads. Do not spray or pour liquids directly onto the device.

Power Supply

The device is intended for use with a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery pack or a UL Listed/CSA Certified Power Unit via USB TYPE-C. It can also be used with Certified Accessories (Dock/Cradle) that supply wireless power. Ensure any power supply used is Datalogic-approved. Using alternative power supplies may void the warranty, cause product damage, or lead to heat, explosion, or fire.

Battery Information and Safety Guidelines

WARNING: Do not place the battery pack in or near heat sources, direct sunlight, or unventilated areas. Do not use in microwave ovens, clothes dryers, high-pressure containers, or on induction cook surfaces. Doing so may cause heat, explosion, or ignition, and reduce performance and lifespan.

CAUTION: Do not incinerate, disassemble, short-circuit, or expose batteries to high temperatures. Risk of fire and explosion. Use only the specified charger. Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of batteries as required by local authorities.

  • The battery pack is shipped partially charged and should be charged before first use.
  • Battery life varies based on usage (scanning, RF, storage, environment). To maximize life, turn off radios when not needed.
  • Charging is optimal between 20-35°C (68-95°F). Never charge in closed spaces where heat can build up. The device may warm during charging, which is normal.
  • For longest battery life, store the device and spare batteries between 20-30°C (68-86°F). Avoid long-term storage at full charge, very low charge, or continuous charging, especially above 30°C.
  • Charge the battery pack every two to three months if not in use for extended periods.
  • Annual replacement of the rechargeable battery pack is recommended for optimal performance and to avoid potential risks.
  • Do not use the battery pack if it is damaged.
  • Supervise battery pack usage by children.
  • Collect and recycle waste batteries separately from the device, complying with relevant European, US, and China regulations.
  • CAUTION: Do not place foreign objects (e.g., coins, paper clips) inside wireless charging dock slots.

Wireless and Radio Frequencies Warnings

Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from RF signals, but some may not be. Persons with pacemakers or other medical devices should follow specific precautions:

  • Keep the device more than 25 cm (10 inches) from pacemakers or other medical devices.
  • Do not carry the device in a breast pocket.
  • Keep the device on the opposite side of the pacemaker/medical device.
  • Turn the device OFF or move it away if interference is suspected.
  • Consult medical device guides or manufacturers for RF shielding information.
  • Contact your doctor if unsure about using wireless devices with implanted medical devices.
  • Turn OFF the device in healthcare facilities as instructed.

RF signals may affect improperly installed or shielded electronic systems in motor vehicles. Consult vehicle and added equipment manufacturers. Keep the device away from airbag deployment areas.

Turn off the device in potentially explosive atmospheres. Observe restrictions and follow laws regarding radio equipment use near fuel storage/distribution areas, chemical plants, or where explosive materials are used. Do not store or carry flammable liquids, explosive gases, or materials with the device.

Laser Safety

This information applies to the Laser Aiming System on the Memor 12. The laser light is visible to the human eye and is emitted from a designated window.

STANDARD LASER SAFETY REGULATIONS: This product conforms to CDRH 21 CFR 1040, IEC 60825-1:2014, and EN 60825-1:2014+A11:2021.

  • Do not attempt to open or service components in the optics cavity. Only factory-authorized personnel should service the optics system.
  • Using controls, adjustments, or procedures other than specified may result in exposure to hazardous visible laser light.
  • Using optical systems (binoculars, microscopes, glasses) with the scanner increases eye hazard.
  • Avoid staring at the laser beam, similar to avoiding staring at the sun. Do not direct the laser beam into an observer's eyes, even through reflective surfaces.

Laser Specifications: Class 2 Laser Product, Maximum Output Power: 1 mW, Wavelength: 630-680 nm.

FCC Compliance

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) it may not cause harmful interference, and (2) it must accept any interference received.

FCC ID: U4G-AELWF

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with limits for a Class B digital device, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. If interference occurs, users are encouraged to try correcting it by reorienting the antenna, increasing separation, connecting to a different circuit, or consulting a dealer/technician.

Body-worn Operation: Tested for typical body-worn operations. Maintain a minimum separation distance of 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) between the user’s body and the handset (including antenna) to comply with RF exposure requirements. Third-party accessories should not contain metallic components.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Information (USA): The SAR limit is 1.6 W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue. The highest reported SAR values for the Memor 12 are 1.13 W/kg (ear) and 1.14 W/kg (body-worn at 1.5 cm separation).

ISED Compliance (Canada)

This device complies with Industry Canada licence-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) no harmful interference, and (2) acceptance of received interference.

IC: 3862E-AELWF

This product meets applicable Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada technical specifications.

RF Exposure Statement (Canada): Compliant with SAR for general population/uncontrolled exposure limits in RSS-102. Tested according to IEEE 1528 and IEC 62209. Minimum distance of 10 mm (0.39 in) between radiator and body is required. Device and antennas must not be co-located or operated with other transmitters.

European Union (EU) Compliance

EU Declaration of Conformity: Datalogic S.r.l. declares this radio equipment complies with Directive 2014/53/EU. The full text is available at www.datalogic.com.
