Detection Range
The detection range is the area where the sensor can reliably detect a target. The diagram shows a standard detection range and a possible detection of a larger target, illustrating the dead zone and the beam width.
Dimensions
The diagram provides the physical dimensions of the control box and sensor head.
Indicators
The sensor features several indicators:
- SP1 (yellow/gelb/jaune): Switching output 1 / Schaltausgang 1 / Sortie à seuil 1
- UB (green/grün/vert): Power ON Anzeige / Alimentation
- UNDER RANGE (red/rot/rouge): Underrange output / URA Schaltausgang / Sortie saturation basse
- OVER (red/rot/rouge): Overrange output / ORA Schaltausgang / Sortie saturation haute (ORA)
- SP2 (yellow/gelb/jaune): Switching output 2 / Schaltausgang 2 / Sortie à seuil 2
Wiring / Anschluß / Raccordement
The document includes a detailed wiring diagram showing the connections between the sensor head, evaluation electronics, and power supply, as well as the pinout for the RS232 interface.

Output Behavior (ORA/URA)
- ORA (Overrange Output): Active when the target is too far (or too close with a negative slope), causing analog outputs to saturate at their maximum (10 V - 20 mA).
- URA (Underrange Output): Active when the target is too close (or too far with a negative slope), causing analog outputs to saturate at their minimum (0 V - 4 mA).
HLD Control Input
The HLD input can be used to pause measurement. Connecting HLD to GND suppresses sensor transmit and receive, latching the outputs to the last measured distance. This input must be connected to 0V during programming.
Synchronization
To prevent mutual interference between multiple sensors, synchronization is recommended by connecting the HLD/SYNC inputs of the sensors together. This ensures that all sensors transmit simultaneously.
Programming the Sensor via Software
Sensor parameters can be modified using the UDSprog software (Windows 95 minimum). The process involves installing the software, connecting the sensor to a serial COM port, and launching UDSprog. Key steps include:
- Install the UDSprog software.
- Connect the sensor to a free serial COM port (RxD, TxD, GND).
- Launch UDSprog and confirm sensor type and COM port.
- Ensure the HOLD input is not connected to ground before proceeding.
- Click "Save" to transfer parameters. Remember to ground the control input (HOLD - pin 6).
- If communication fails, check serial communication settings, COM port configuration, and wiring. Consider using "Initialize sensor" to reset factory settings.
- The program reads parameters from the sensor's memory.
The software allows adjustment of analog output (offset, range, slope) and switching outputs (NO/NC, distance). Advanced options for internal parameters are available via the "Configuration" -> "Advanced Options" menu, but these should only be modified by experienced users.
