Honeywell Xenon XP 1950h Healthcare 2D Barcode Scanner Quick Start Guide

Pre-preparation

Note: For information on cleaning the device, please refer to the User Guide.

Before connecting the scanner, turn off the computer. Turn the computer back on after the scanner is connected.

Power Device (If Included)

Note: If needed, the power supply must be purchased separately.

Connecting the Scanner

USB

A diagram shows the scanner connected to a computer via a USB cable.

Keyboard Wedge

A diagram shows the scanner connected to a computer via a keyboard wedge cable, which splits into a keyboard connection and a scanner connection.

RS232 Serial Port

A diagram shows the scanner connected to a computer via an RS232 serial cable, with a power adapter also connected.

Reading Method

The red laser beam emitted from the aiming window should be centered on the barcode, but the beam direction has no specific restrictions as long as the barcode can be read smoothly.

Product Defaults

Scanning the following barcode will restore all product default settings.

USB Interface

USB Serial

Scanning this barcode can set the scanner to simulate a standard RS232 COM port. If using a Microsoft® Windows® PC, download the driver from the Honeywell website (www.honeywellaidc.com). The driver will use the next available COM port number. Apple® Macintosh computers will recognize the scanner as a USB CDC class device and use the class driver automatically.

Note: No additional settings (e.g., baud rate) are required.

USB PC Keyboard

Scan the following barcode to set the scanner to USB PC Keyboard mode.

Application Integration

Epic

Scan the following barcode to set your device to communicate with the Epic software application.

Scan the following barcode to set your device to communicate with the Meditech software application.

Silent Operation

Scan the following barcode to set the scanner to Silent Mode, to avoid disturbing patients who are resting.

Silent Mode (LED Indicator Blinks)

Scan the following barcode to set the scanner to Full Silent Mode. After scanning the barcode, the LED indicator and aimer will blink 5 times. A green blink indicates good scanning performance, while a red blink indicates poor scanning performance.

Silent Mode (LED Indicator Stays On)

Scan the following barcode to set the scanner to Full Silent Mode. After scanning the barcode, the LED indicator and aimer will remain lit for 1 second. A green blink indicates good scanning performance, while a red blink indicates poor scanning performance.

Buzzer Low Volume (Night Mode)

Scan the following barcode to set the scanner's buzzer volume to very low. After scanning the barcode, the scanner will emit a very soft beep.

Buzzer Low Volume (Day Mode)

Scan the following barcode to set the scanner's volume to low. After scanning the barcode, the scanner will emit a lower beep.

Trigger Modes

The following barcodes can set the scanner to the desired mode: "Manual Trigger - Normal" mode (requires pulling the trigger to read) or "Semi-Automatic Trigger" mode (scanner activates only when it senses a barcode).

Streaming Presentation™

When in "Streaming Presentation" mode, the scanner's aiming light remains on and continuously searches for barcodes.

Postamble

To add a carriage return character after the barcode, scan the "Add Carriage Return Postamble" barcode. To add a tab character after the barcode, scan the "Add Tab Character Postamble" barcode. Otherwise, scan the "Remove Postamble" barcode to remove the postamble.

Add Prefix to All Symbols

To add a Code ID prefix to all symbols at once, scan the following barcode.

Keyboard Country/Region

Scan the appropriate country/region barcode below to set the keyboard layout for your country/region or language. By default, the following characters are used for country-specific character replacement: #$@[₩]^′{|}~ Please refer to the "ISO 646 Character Replacement Table" in the User Guide to see the replacement characters for each country/region.
