User Manuals Simplified.

Product Overview

This document provides the user guide for the Razor 13173862 Power Core S80 Electric Hub Motor Scooter (French: TROTTINETTE À MOTEUR-ROUE ÉLECTRIQUE).

Recommended Rider Age: 8+ years

Maximum Rider Weight: 54 kg (119 lbs)

Assembly and Setup

Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your scooter:

  1. Handlebar Assembly: Insert the handlebar stem into the steering column. Secure it using the provided bolts and the 5mm tool. Ensure it is tightened properly.
  2. Charging the Battery:
    • Ensure the scooter is turned OFF.
    • Connect the charger to a power outlet.
    • Connect the charger cable to the charging port on the scooter.
    • The display may show charging status (e.g., '12:00 HOURS MINUTES' indicating charging time or battery level).
    • Important: Charge the battery for AT LEAST 12 hours before the first use.
    • Do not store the scooter or battery in freezing temperatures, as this can permanently damage the battery.
    • Use only the charger recommended by Razor.
    • Unplug the charger when not in use.

Operation: How to Ride

Note: The electric scooter must be moving at approximately 5 km/h (3 mph) before the motor will engage.

  • Starting: Ensure the scooter is moving at the required speed before activating the throttle. Use the 'GO (ALLER)' control.
  • Riding: Hold the handlebars firmly at all times. Ride defensively and be aware of your surroundings, including pedestrians, other vehicles, and obstacles.
  • Stopping: Use the brake mechanism to stop. The 'STOP (ARRÊT)' control should be used for braking.
  • Motor Engagement: The motor engages when the scooter is in motion and the throttle is applied.
  • Hot Components: Do not touch the brakes or hub motor during or immediately after use, as they can become very hot.
  • Speed: Avoid high speeds, especially on downhill rides, as this can lead to loss of control.
  • Visibility: Do not ride at night or when visibility is limited.
  • Stunts: Do not attempt stunts or tricks. The scooter is not designed for such use and it increases the risk of injury or damage.
  • Single Rider: Only one person should ride the scooter at a time.
  • Safety: Keep hands, feet, hair, and clothing away from moving parts and wheels. Never use headphones or a cell phone while riding. Never hitch a ride with a vehicle.

Maintenance and Parts Replacement

Before Use:

  • Check that all covers and guards are in place and in good condition.
  • Ensure the brake is functioning properly.
  • Check the rear wheel for flat spots or excessive wear.

After Use:

  • Maintain and repair the scooter according to the manufacturer's specifications in this manual.
  • Use only manufacturer-authorized replacement parts.
  • Do not modify the scooter from its original design.

Front Wheel Replacement:

The process involves loosening fasteners, removing the old wheel, and installing a new one, ensuring proper alignment and tightening of bolts (e.g., using a 5mm Allen key and potentially 13mm wrenches).

Rear Wheel/Hub Motor/Battery Replacement:

This procedure involves accessing the internal components, disconnecting electrical connections (e.g., red and black connectors), removing the battery pack, and installing a new one or replacing the hub motor assembly. Ensure all connections are secure and the battery is properly seated.

Safety Precautions and Riding Practices

General Safety:

  • Parents and supervising adults must teach children how to ride safely.
  • Riding an electric scooter involves risks, including falling and losing control, which can lead to serious injury or death.
  • Use common sense and exercise caution at all times.
  • Ensure the rider is comfortable and competent operating the scooter.
  • Persons with medical conditions (heart, head, back, neck issues, or pregnant) should not operate the scooter.
  • Do not ride in wet or icy conditions, or immerse the scooter in water.
  • Avoid riding indoors on surfaces that could be damaged (e.g., carpet, flooring).
  • Never use near steps or swimming pools.

Riding Environment:

  • Obey all local laws and regulations regarding scooter use.
  • Stay away from motor vehicle traffic.
  • Ride defensively and avoid pedestrians, skaters, skateboards, bikes, children, and animals.
  • Use only on flat, dry surfaces like pavement or level ground, free of loose debris (sand, leaves, rocks, gravel).
  • Avoid wet, slick, bumpy, uneven, or rough surfaces.
  • Do not ride in mud, ice, puddles, or water.
  • Watch out for obstacles that could catch the wheel or cause sudden swerving.
  • Avoid sharp bumps and drainage grates.

Protective Equipment:

  • Always wear an approved safety helmet with a securely buckled chin strap.
  • Elbow pads and other protective gear are recommended.
  • Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and gloves.
  • Always wear athletic shoes with rubber soles. Never ride barefoot or in sandals. Keep shoelaces tied and away from moving parts.

Charger Usage

  • Never modify the electric system, as this can cause a fire.
  • Use only the correct type of battery and charger to avoid explosions.
  • Regularly inspect the charger for damage to the cord, plug, or enclosure. Do not use if damaged.
  • Do not operate chargers near flammable materials or open flames.
  • Do not exceed the recommended charging time.
