Connection Mode

Working via Bluetooth

Get Started: US Keyboard is configured by default. After pairing via Bluetooth, you can start using the scanner. If using a different keyboard layout, configure the keyboard language accordingly.

Low Voltage Alarm: The scanner will emit 2 beeps to indicate low voltage. Connect the base to your PC via USB cable and place the scanner on the base to charge (3-4 hours).

Firmware Version

Read the command barcode below to check the scanner firmware version.

Programming barcodes below are applied for version ≥ NT_ZNCWBSDk8815.

Barcode Programming

Netum barcode scanners are factory programmed for common terminal and communication settings. To change settings, scan the barcodes in this guide. An asterisk (*) indicates the default setting.

Bluetooth Connection

1. Pairing with Windows XP or Windows 7/8/10

  1. Power on the scanner; the blue indicator will flash.
  2. Navigate to 'Control Panel' → 'Devices and Printers' → 'Add a device', then select 'Bluetooth' to add the scanner to your computer.
  3. Click 'Next'. The scanner will beep to confirm successful pairing, and the blue indicator will turn solid.

2. Android: Connect Android Device in Basic Mode

  1. Power on the scanner. Ensure it is discoverable (unpaired). The blue indicator will flash.
  2. On your Android device, navigate to Home | Menu | Settings | Wireless & Networks | Bluetooth settings.
  3. Ensure Bluetooth is 'On' and scan for devices.
  4. From the list of found devices, select "Netum Bluetooth" and tap Pair.
  5. The scanner will connect to the Android device.
  6. The scanner will beep once upon successful connection and is ready to scan barcodes.

3. Pairing with your iOS device

  1. Power on the scanner. Ensure it is discoverable (unpaired). The blue indicator will flash.
  2. In the left column of your iOS device's Bluetooth settings, tap "Bluetooth".
  3. Your iOS device will automatically search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
  4. Locate and tap "Netum Bluetooth" on the screen. The scanner will connect automatically, and its LED light will turn solid blue.

Operation Mode

A) BT HID Mode (Default)*

No software installation is required. This mode connects to most devices with Bluetooth or USB interfaces. The scanner functions like a keyboard, compatible with applications like Safari, Notes, and others that support an active cursor.

Note: This command barcode is only applicable for Bluetooth Wireless Mode.

Keyboard Language

To ensure correct code uploading, configure the keyboard language before use. For example, scanning the "French Keyboard" barcode will set the scanner to upload barcodes according to the French keyboard layout. American Keyboard is the default; skip this if you use a US keyboard.

Available Keyboard Layouts:

B) Application Mode (SPP)

For Android or Windows only. Software installation is required. Recommended if you have an application that supports mobile scanners.

Note: This command barcode is only applicable for Bluetooth Wireless Mode.

Scan Mode

Trigger Mode (Default)

Scanning this barcode enables manual trigger mode.

Command Barcode: [Barcode for Trigger Mode] (Code: 013300)

Continuous Mode

This mode allows the scanner engine to continuously scan, decode, and transmit data.

Command Barcode: [Barcode for Continuous Mode] (Code: 013304)

Auto Sense Mode

Scanning this barcode enables auto sense mode.

Data Uploading Mode

Activate offline mode when working outside signal range. Scanned data is stored in buffer memory and can be manually uploaded later. Data entries are permanently saved in buffer memory before manual upload.

Offline Mode Operations:

Notes: Command barcodes from Working mode section are only applied for Bluetooth wireless mode.

Terminator

Set the terminating character suffix to CR or CRLF by scanning the appropriate barcode.

Idle Time

Configure the scanner's idle time. The scanner stays awake for the configured duration and then sleeps if not used.

IOS Keyboard POP UP/HIDE

Hide or show the iOS keyboard during scanning by scanning the command barcode.

Beeper

Enable/disable the scanner's beep to indicate a successful scan.

Restore Factory Default

Restore the scanner to factory defaults by scanning the following barcodes sequentially (four steps included):

  1. Factory Restore [Barcode for Factory Restore]
  2. Serial Port [Barcode for Serial Port]
  3. Baud Rate 19200 [Barcode for Baud Rate 19200]
  4. Enter+LF [Barcode for Enter+LF]

Transmit Code ID Character

A code ID character identifies the type of a scanned barcode. This is useful when decoding multiple code types. The code ID character is inserted between the prefix character (if selected) and the decoded symbol. Refer to Appendix A.

Common Barcode Function

Enable/Disable EAN-8

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable EAN-8.

Enable/Disable EAN-13

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable EAN-13.

Add-On Code

EAN-8/EAN-13 barcodes can be augmented with a two-digit or five-digit add-on code. The example shows an EAN-8 barcode (blue line) and an add-on code (red line). "Disable Add-on Code" is the default.

EAN/UPC Add-On 2 or 5

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable EAN/UPC add-on digits.

Enable/Disable Convert EAN-13 to ISBN

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable EAN-13 to ISBN conversion.

Enable/Disable Convert EAN-13 to ISSN

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable EAN-13 to ISSN conversion.

Enable/Disable Codabar

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable Codabar.

Enable/Disable Code 11

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable Code 11.

Enable/Disable Code 39

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable Code 39.

Enable/Disable Code 39 Full ASCII

Code 39 Full ASCII is a variant of Code 39 that encodes the full ASCII character set.

Enable/Disable Code 93

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable Code 93.

Enable/Disable Code 128

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable Code 128.

Enable/Disable Code 32

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable Code 32.

Enable/Disable GS1 DataBar Limited (RSS Limited)

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable GS1 DataBar Limited.

GS1 DataBar Omnidirectional (RSS Omnidirectional)

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable GS1 DataBar Omnidirectional.

Enable/Disable UPC-A

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable UPC-A.

Scan the appropriate barcode to enable or disable Convert UPC-A to EAN-13.

Enable/Disable Interleaved 2 of 5

Hide Prefix or Suffix Digits

Hide the start, middle, or end characters of a barcode. After scanning the hide set barcode, scan a double-digit hexadecimal number for the desired character length (e.g., to hide 4 characters, scan 0, 4).

Output Format

Change the Scan Data Transmission Format by scanning one of the eight corresponding barcodes.

To Hide Chars of Barcode Start/Middle/End:

Procedures:

  1. Scan the Hide Barcode Start / Middle Start / Middle length / End Chars symbol.
  2. Determine the hex value for the length (e.g., hide 4 chars: scan 0,4; hide 12 chars: scan 0,C).
  3. Scan the 2-digit hex value from the Numeric Bar Codes.
  4. Scan the output format to enable or cancel the hide char function.

Custom Prefix and Suffix

Up to 20 prefixes and 20 suffixes can be added for data editing. Set these values by scanning double-digit hexadecimal numbers (corresponding to ASCII values) from the Numeric Bar Codes section. Refer to Table 1 and Numeric Bar Codes in the appendix.

To Add a Prefix or Suffix:

  1. Scan the command barcode for "Add Prefix" or "Add Suffix".
  2. Check the prefix or suffix hex value from the ASCII Chart.
  3. Scan the 2-digit hex value from the Numeric Bar Codes.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all desired prefixes or suffixes.
  5. Scan the output format to enable or disable prefix/suffix output.

Scan the following barcodes to input numeric values for prefix/suffix configuration.

Scan the following barcodes to change the output format for prefixes and suffixes.

Example: How to Add Normal Prefix or Suffix

Example: Add "A" and "B" as prefixes and "!" as suffix to barcode "123456789".

Steps:

  1. Scan command barcode: "Add Prefix" [Barcode for Add Prefix].
  2. Check prefix hex values from ASCII Chart: A="41", B="42".
  3. Scan 2-digit hex values from Numeric Bar Codes: $NO#4, $NO#4 (for A), $NO#4, $NO#2 (for B).
  4. Scan output format to enable prefix output: "Enable Prefix output" [Barcode for Enable Prefix output].
  5. Scan command barcode: "Add Suffix" [Barcode for Add Suffix] to add "!" as suffix.
  6. Check suffix hex value from ASCII Chart: !="21".
  7. Scan 2-digit hex value from Numeric Bar Codes: $NO#2, $NO#1.
  8. Scan output format to enable suffix output: "Enable Suffix output" [Barcode for Enable Suffix output].
  9. Scan the barcode "123456789". Expected output: AB123456789!

Example: How to Add Combination Key Suffix

Example: Add "Ctrl+P" as suffix to barcode "123456789".

Steps:

  1. Scan command barcode: "Add Suffix" [Barcode for Add Suffix] to add "Ctrl+P" as suffix.
  2. Check suffix hex values from ASCII Chart: Ctrl+P = "9750".
  3. Scan 4-digit hex values from Numeric Bar Codes: $NO#9, $NO#7, $NO#5, $NO#0.
  4. Scan output format to enable suffix output: "Enable Suffix output" [Barcode for Enable Suffix output].
  5. Scan "Keyboard Ctrl Combination Key" [Barcode for Keyboard Ctrl Combination Key].
  6. Scan the barcode "123456789" (test in Excel).
