Features and Views
The ASUS Mini PC PN51 features various ports and indicators:
Front View
- Power button: Turns the Mini PC on/off, or puts it into sleep mode. A four-second press forces a shutdown.
- Microphone: For audio input.
- Headphone/Headset/Microphone jack: Connects audio output devices or headsets/microphones.
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C®/DisplayPort combo port: High-speed data transfer (up to 10 Gbit/s) and DisplayPort 1.4 support. Can also charge USB devices (Battery Charging 1.2 on select models). Supports high resolutions up to 7680 x 4320 @30Hz or 5120 x 2280 @120Hz when used as a display output.
- Memory card slot: Reads and writes data to/from Micro SD cards.
- Drive activity indicator: Lights up when the internal storage drive is accessed.
- IR receiver: Detects signals from a remote control (sold separately).
Left View
- Air vents (intake vent): Allow cooler air to enter the chassis. Ensure these are unobstructed for optimal heat dissipation.
- Kensington security slot: Secures the Mini PC with Kensington® security products.
Right View
- Air vents (exhaust vent): Expel hot air from the chassis. Ensure these are unobstructed.
Rear View
- HDMI™ port: Connects to external displays, supporting up to 3840 x 2160 @60Hz.
- Configurable port: Varies by model, can be VGA, DisplayPort, or other options.
- VGA port: Connects to external displays, supporting up to 1920 x 1200 @60Hz.
- Serial (COM) connector: 9-pin connector for serial devices like mice, modems, or printers.
- LAN port: 8-pin RJ-45 for Ethernet cable connection to a local network.
- DisplayPort: Connects to external displays, supporting up to 7680 x 4320 @30Hz or 5120 x 2280 @120Hz.
- USB 3.2 Gen 1 port: Provides data transfer up to 5 Gbit/s.
- Power input: Connects to the supplied AC power adapter. Use only the provided adapter. The adapter may become warm during use.
Getting Started
- Connect the power adapter and cord: Plug the adapter into the Mini PC and a power outlet.
- Connect a display: Connect a display panel to the Mini PC using a display cable (HDMI™, DisplayPort, VGA, or USB Type-C®/DisplayPort combo port). Multiple displays can be connected simultaneously depending on the ports used.
- Connect keyboard and mouse: Connect wired or wireless keyboards and mice.
- Turn on the system: Power on the Mini PC.
Upgrading Your Mini PC
It is recommended to have memory modules, wireless cards, and SSDs installed or upgraded under professional supervision. Ensure hands are dry and use anti-static precautions (grounded wrist strap or touching a grounded object) before proceeding.
Installing 2.5" HDD or SSD
- Prepare the 2.5" HDD or SSD (7mm or 9.5mm thickness supported).
- Align and insert the drive into the storage bay on the bottom cover.
- Secure the drive with four screws.
Installing the M.2 SSD (on selected models)
- Remove the bottom cover by unscrewing the four screws and sliding the cover.
- Remove the M.2 stand screw.
- Align and insert the 2280 M.2 SSD into its slot.
- Gently push down the SSD and fasten it with the M.2 stand screw.
- (Optional) Connect antennas to the wireless card if installed.
- Replace the bottom cover by sliding it back and securing it with the screws.
Installing Memory Modules
- Ensure you are using compatible DDR4 SO-DIMMs.
- Align and insert a memory module into a SO-DIMM slot.
- Press down until it is securely seated.
- Repeat for the second memory module if applicable.
Installing the Wireless Card
- Remove the bottom cover as described above.
- Remove the M.2 stand screw.
- Align and insert the wireless card into its M.2 slot.
- Gently push down the card and fasten it with the stand screw.
- (Optional) Connect antennas to the wireless card for improved signal strength.
- Replace the bottom cover.
