Galileo Thermometer: Instructions for Use

This document provides instructions for reading a Galileo thermometer, a decorative and functional instrument that measures ambient temperature through the principle of buoyancy. The thermometer contains multiple glass bulbs, each filled with a different colored liquid and precisely weighted.

How to Interpret Temperature Readings

The temperature is determined by the position of the floating bulbs:

A. Lowest Floating Bulb: The temperature is indicated by the lowest bulb that remains afloat.
B. Middle Bulb: If a bulb is suspended in the middle, the temperature is between the value of that bulb and the value of the lowest floating bulb.
C. All Bulbs at Top: If all bulbs float to the top, the temperature is below the lowest marked temperature.
D. All Bulbs at Bottom: If all bulbs sink to the bottom, the temperature is above the highest marked temperature.
