Getting to Know Your TV
Front Panel
Remote Sensor and Power Indicator: Aim the remote directly at this sensor. The power indicator flashes when the TV turns on and then goes out after a few seconds. It can be configured to stay on.
Rear Panel
The rear panel features various ports for connecting external devices:
- HDMI: Connect HDMI devices.
- Composite: Connect a composite video source.
- Audio Out: Connect to RCA devices like soundbars.
- Coaxial: Connect to a coaxial cable from cable, satellite, or antenna.
- USB: Connect a USB thumb drive for photos, music, or videos.
- Optical Audio Out: Connect to optical/SPDIF audio devices (e.g., home audio receiver).
- Ethernet: Connect an Ethernet cable to a modem/router.
Physical buttons on the TV include:
- Power: Press to turn on, press and hold to turn off.
- Volume (VOL): Increase or decrease TV volume.
- Input (INPUT): Access the input menu.
Connecting Devices: Diagrams illustrate connecting audio and video sources via HDMI, Coaxial, Composite (AV), and Optical cables. Audio output connections to soundbars or receivers are also shown using RCA and Optical cables.
Wall-Mounting the TV
To mount your TV on a wall, you will need a compatible wall mount. Ensure the mount supports the TV's weight.
- Disconnect all cables.
- Place the TV face-down on a clean, flat, stable surface.
- Remove the stands by loosening and removing screws, if attached.
- Attach the TV and wall mount to the wall, following the mount's instructions. Use only a UL-listed wall mount bracket rated for the TV's weight.
Note: Installing a TV on a wall requires lifting. Seek assistance to prevent injury or damage.

Using the Remote
The remote control allows you to navigate menus and control TV functions. Key buttons include:
- Input: Change the currently displayed input.
- App Launcher: Quickly launch a pictured app.
- Exit: Close the on-screen menu.
- Menu: Display the settings menu.
- Arrow Buttons & OK: Navigate and select menu options.
- Back: Go to the previous menu.
- Volume Up/Down: Adjust audio loudness.
- Pic: Cycle through picture setting modes.
- Mute: Turn audio on or off.
- Number Pad: Manually enter a channel.
- Wide: Change picture display size/aspect ratio.
- Info: Display the info window.
- Closed Caption (CC): Open the closed caption menu.
- V Button (SmartCast Home): Launch SmartCast Home or return to the home screen.
- Last: Return to the last viewed channel.
- Dash: Use with number pad for digital sub-channels.
Accessibility Features: Certain buttons (e.g., PIC, CC, VOL, CH) can enable accessibility features like Talk Back and Zoom Mode when held for 5 seconds.
Replacing Batteries: Pry open the back cover using a coin in the notch, insert two AAA batteries matching polarity, and replace the cover. VIZIO recommends Duracell 'AAA' alkaline batteries. Please dispose of batteries properly according to local laws.
Completing The First-Time Setup
When you turn on the TV for the first time, on-screen instructions guide you through setup. Ensure the TV is installed, the power cord is connected, and your Wi-Fi password is ready if using a wireless network. An Ethernet cable can also be used.
The setup process includes:
- Choose Language: Select from English, Español, or Français.
- Choose Location: Select your country (e.g., USA, Mexico, Canada).
- Choose Wi-Fi Network: Select your home network or a public Wi-Fi, and enter the password.
- Accept Terms & Conditions: Review and accept VIZIO and Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policies.
- Scan for Channels: Connect an antenna or cable and scan for local broadcast channels.
- Choose TV Location: Assign the TV to a room (e.g., Family Room, Living Room).
- Confirmation: The TV is ready to start streaming.
SmartCast Mobile App: The setup also promotes downloading the VIZIO SmartCast Mobile app to use your smartphone as a remote.
Using the On-Screen Menu
The on-screen menu allows access to various TV settings.
Navigating the On-Screen Menu
Press the MENU button on the remote. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight options and press OK to select. The BACK button returns to the previous menu, and the EXIT button closes the menu.
Changing the Input Source
Press the INPUT button on the remote to display the input menu. Use the Arrow buttons or the INPUT button to highlight the desired input (e.g., HDMI-1, COMP TV, SMARTCAST) and press OK or release the button to select it.
Tip: Input names can be customized for easier recognition.

Adjusting the Picture Settings
Customize picture settings for optimal viewing.
Picture Mode
Access via Menu > Picture > Picture Mode
. Options include:
- Standard: Default settings.
- Calibrated: Ideal for bright rooms.
- Calibrated Dark: Ideal for dark rooms.
- Vivid: Brighter, more vivid picture.
- Game: Optimizes for game consoles, reduces delay.
- Computer: Optimizes for PC output.
An asterisk (*) next to a mode name indicates saved custom settings.
Manual Picture Adjustments
Access via Menu > Picture > [Setting Name]
. Adjustments include:
- Backlight: Controls LED brightness.
- Auto Brightness Control: Detects room light and adjusts backlight.
- Brightness: Adjusts black levels.
- Contrast: Adjusts white levels.
- Color: Adjusts color intensity.
- Tint: Adjusts picture hue, useful for flesh tones.
- Sharpness: Adjusts edge sharpness.

Picture Mode Edit
Access via Menu > Picture > Picture Mode Edit

- Save Picture Mode: Save custom settings.
- Lock Picture Mode: Prevent accidental changes using a PIN.
- Reset Picture Mode: Restore factory defaults for a customized mode.
Color Tuner Settings
Access via Menu > Picture > Color Calibration > Color Tuner
. Allows advanced calibration for technicians, including turning color channels on/off, adjusting CMS/white balance settings, and displaying test patterns (SMPTE, Flat, Ramp, Uniformity Analyzer).
Adjusting the Audio Settings
Customize audio output and sound characteristics.
Access via Menu > Audio

- Speakers: Turn built-in speakers On or Off.
- Volume Control Display: Show/hide the on-screen volume slider.
- Surround Sound: Enable DTS TruSurround™ for immersive audio.
- Volume Leveling: Use DTS TruVolume™ to maintain consistent volume levels.
- Balance: Adjust loudness between left and right speakers.
- Lip Sync: Synchronize audio and video.
- Digital Audio Out: Set processing for digital audio out/HDMI ARC (Auto, PCM, Dolby D, Bitstream).
- Analog Audio Out: Set volume control for RCA output (Variable or Fixed).
Adjusting the Network Settings
Connect your TV to the internet via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- Connecting to a Wireless Network:
Menu > Network > Choose your network > Enter password > Connect

Menu > Network > Hidden Network > Enter Access Point Name > Connect > Enter password

. Displays RJ45 MAC and Wireless MAC addresses.
Setting Timers
Configure automatic TV power-off and screen-off functions.
- Sleep Timer: Set TV to turn off after a specified period (30-180 minutes or Off). Access via
Menu > Timers
. - Auto Power Off: TV turns off after 10 minutes without signal (can be deactivated). Access via
Menu > Timers > Auto Power Off
. - Blank Screen Feature: Turn the screen off while audio streams to save LED life. Access via
Menu > Timers > Blank Screen
. Press any key (except volume/mute) to exit.
Setting Up Channels
Manage your TV channels.
- Find Channels: Perform an auto channel scan for over-the-air or cable channels. Access via
Menu > Channels > Find Channels
. - Skip Channels: Remove unwanted channels from the channel list. Access via
Menu > Channels > Skip Channels
. Skipped channels can still be accessed directly. - Analog Audio: Select audio mode for analog broadcasts (Stereo, SAP, Mono).
- Digital Audio: Select preferred audio language or video description for digital broadcasts (e.g., English, Spanish/Video Description, French).
- Parental Control: Access parental controls for content locking.
Using Parental Controls
Prevent viewing of inappropriate content using PIN-protected locks.
Accessing the Menu: Requires setting a system PIN first. Access via Menu > Channels > Parental Controls > Enter PIN

- Enabling/Disabling Program Ratings: Control content based on ratings. Access via
Menu > Channels > Parental Controls > Locks > ON/OFF
. - Locking/Unlocking Channels: Lock specific channels to prevent access. Access via
Menu > Channels > Parental Controls > Channel Locks
. - Blocking/Unblocking Content by Rating: Block content based on rating categories (USA TV, USA Movie, Canadian English, Canadian French). Access via
Menu > Channels > Parental Controls > Rating Block

Setting Up Closed Captioning
Display transcriptions of dialogue for programs that support closed captions.
- Activate/Deactivate:
Menu > Closed Captions > Closed Captions > Off/On
. - Caption Channel: Select Analog or Digital caption channels (e.g., CC1, CS1). Access via
Menu > Closed Captions > Analog/Digital Closed Captions
. - Changing Appearance of Digital Closed Captions: Customize text style, size, color, opacity, background, and window appearance via
Menu > Closed Captions > Digital Style
. Options include 'As Broadcast' or 'Custom' settings.
Note: Closed Captions menu is not available for HDMI inputs. Captions are available via tuner or composite video cable.

Changing Input Settings
Configure input sources and device names.
- Access Menu:
Menu > Input Settings
. - Renaming Devices: Highlight an input, press OK, and use preset names or enter a custom label via the on-screen keyboard. Cannot rename tuner or WatchFree inputs.
- Other Settings: Full UHD Color, Picture Size, Picture Position, Hide from Input Source (if input source exists).
Changing the TV Settings
Manage system-wide settings for your TV.
Access via the System menu.
- Check for Updates: Check for and install software updates.
- System Information: View technical data and network status.
- Menu Language: Change the on-screen menu language (English, Español, Français).
- Time & Local Settings: Set the time zone and Daylight Saving Time (On, Off, Auto).
- CEC Settings: Enable control of connected HDMI devices with the TV remote (Power On/Off, Volume, Mute).
- Power Mode: Switch between Eco Mode (low power consumption) and Quick Start Mode (faster power-on, enables casting).
- Aspect Ratio: Preserve aspect ratio or fill the screen.
- TV Name: Assign a name to your TV for easier identification.
- Mobile Devices: View and unpair connected mobile devices.
- Accessibility Settings: Access features like Talk Back, Speech Rate, Zoom Mode, and Video Description.
- Reset & Admin: Access reset options and administrative controls.
Using the Reset & Admin Menu
Restore factory defaults and manage system administration.
Access via Menu > System > Reset & Admin
.
- Reset to Factory Defaults: Restores all settings to original factory values. Requires PIN if set. The TV will restart and initiate the setup process. Warning: All custom settings will be lost.
- Soft Power Cycle: Forces the TV to turn off and then on again.
- Power Indicator: Turn the front power indicator light On or Off.
- System PIN Code: Create or change the PIN used for locking content and settings.
- USB Power: Control USB port power availability (Always On or Off When TV Off).
- Viewing Data: Manage Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) settings. VIZIO collects viewing data for analysis, advertising, and service improvement. Users can enable/disable this feature and consult VIZIO's privacy policy at www.vizio.com/privacy.
- Store Demo: Start or stop the store demonstration mode.
Using the Info Window
Press the INFO button on the remote to display current TV status, including:
- TV Name
- Current Input
- Picture Mode
- Audio Type
- Network Name
- Time
Note: The Dolby Atmos icon may display with 'Audio Out' when Dolby Atmos content is passed through to an external audio device.
SmartCast HomeSM
SmartCast Home is the central hub for discovering, streaming, and controlling content on your VIZIO TV.
What is SmartCast Home?
Access top apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video directly from the home screen. It simplifies finding and launching content.
How to Launch SmartCast Home
Press the V-Logo button ( ) on your remote or select SmartCast from the input list.
Features:
- Stream high-quality entertainment.
- Launch popular apps directly.
- Mirror your laptop or mobile device.
- Rearrange apps on the home screen.
- Works with voice assistants like Google Assistant.
The SmartCast Home screen includes sections for Marquee Content, Discover, Search, Apps, and quick access to Movies, Shows, WatchFree, Support, Extras, and Cast functionality.
Control with SmartCast Mobile™ App
Download the VIZIO SmartCast Mobile app to use your smartphone as a remote. It allows control of power, playback, advanced settings, text input, and content discovery across multiple apps. Visit www.vizio.com/smartcastapp for requirements.
WatchFree™
WatchFree offers free streaming TV with over 100 live channels, including news, movies, sports, and comedy, without requiring logins or subscriptions.
Features:
- Stream over 100 live TV channels for free.
- Navigate channels organized by genre via an on-screen guide.
- Watch thousands of free movies and internet TV content.
How to Launch WatchFree
Press the INPUT button and select WatchFree, or select the WatchFree app logo from the SmartCast Home app row.
Note: WatchFree is not available in Canada.
Playing USB Media
Connect a USB flash drive to play music, videos, or photos.
Preparing Your USB Drive
- Format the drive as FAT32.
- Files must have supported extensions (e.g., .mp3, .jpg).
- Not compatible with external hard drives, MP3 players, cameras, or smartphones.
Displaying USB Media
Connect the USB drive to the TV's USB port. The TV will recognize it. Use the Arrow Keys to select content, or select USB from the SmartCast Home page.
Removing the USB Drive
Turn the TV off before disconnecting the USB drive to prevent damage.
Media Playback Interfaces:
- Music: Displays song title, album art, progress bar, and playback controls. Allows sorting by Album/Artist/Track.
- Video: Lists video files with duration. Allows sorting by Date or File Name. Includes playback controls.
- Photo: Displays photo thumbnails or files. Allows starting a slideshow, adjusting settings, and viewing photo information (resolution, size).

- Remote Not Responding: Check battery insertion and replace if necessary.
- "No Signal" Message: Ensure the correct input source is selected.
- Color Issues: Adjust Picture settings (Color, Tint), select a Picture Mode, or check cable connections. Scan for channels if using antenna/cable.
- Remote Buttons Not Working: Press one button at a time, point directly at the TV, and check batteries.
- No Power: Verify the TV is plugged into a working outlet and the power cable is secure.
- Power On, No Image: Check all cable connections and ensure the correct input is selected.
- No Sound: Check volume, mute status, audio settings, external device connections, and antenna signal strength.
- Image Noise/Static: May be due to signal strength or digital up-conversion. Adjust antenna or check signal.
- Image Size Changes on Input Change: TV remembers viewing modes per input. Adjust aspect ratio if needed.
- Poor Image Quality: Use HD/digital sources, HDMI cables, and ensure good antenna signal strength. Check aspect ratio settings.
- Flat Sound/Inaudible Dialogue: Turn off Volume Leveling.
- Picture Distortion: Move TV away from electrical appliances and ensure cables are secure.
- Image Not Covering Screen: Check aspect ratio settings or input type.
- Dark Pixels: Inherent to display technology and not considered a defect.
- Downloading SmartCast Mobile App: Visit vizio.com/smartcastapp.

Limited Warranty
For United States and Canada Residents:
Warranty Period: One (1) year from the date of original purchase for non-commercial use; ninety (90) days for commercial use.
Coverage: VIZIO warrants the product against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, provided it was purchased from an authorized retailer in the US or Canada.
Zero Bright Pixel Defect Guarantee: May apply to select new product purchases for the warranty duration.
Service: TVs 32 inches or larger typically receive in-home service. Other products require shipment to a VIZIO service center. VIZIO covers return shipping but not transportation costs to the service center. User data will be deleted during service.
Exclusions: Warranty does not cover cosmetic damage, normal wear and tear, improper operation, power surges, signal issues, shipping damage, misuse, unauthorized modifications, or products sold "AS IS".
Binding Arbitration Agreement (U.S. Residents Only): Disputes are settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association. This affects your rights; read the full warranty for details on opting out or pursuing small claims court.
