  10. Keep cord away from hot surfaces and do not let it hang over edges.

  13. Use extreme caution when moving the appliance with hot contents.
  14. Do not touch, cover, or obstruct the steam vent; it is extremely hot and can cause scalding.
  15. Use only with a 120V AC power outlet.
  16. Always unplug by gripping the plug, never pull the cord.
  17. Operate on a separate circuit; overloading may cause improper operation.
  18. Ensure the outside of the inner pot is dry before use.
  19. Use extreme caution when opening the lid during or after cooking due to hot steam.
  20. Do not leave rice in the inner pot on Keep Warm for more than 12 hours.
  21. Do not use the inner pot on a stovetop or burner to prevent damage.
  22. To disconnect, turn control to OFF, then remove plug.
  23. Caution: Cook only in the removable inner pot to reduce shock risk.
  24. Do not wrap or tie cord around the appliance.
  25. Intended for countertop use only.
  26. WARNING: Spilled food can cause serious burns. Keep appliance and cord away from children. Never drape cord over edge of counter, use outlets below counter, or use extension cords.
  27. To avoid spills and burns, do not carry cooker by the lid handle.
  28. Caution: Do not use for deep frying.
  29. Do not immerse in water.

Short Cord & Polarized Plug Instructions

A short power-supply cord reduces risks from entanglement or tripping. The polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) is intended for a polarized outlet only. If it doesn't fit, reverse the plug. Contact a qualified electrician if it still doesn't fit. Damaged supply cords must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person.

Parts Identification

Digital Controls

Before First Use

  1. Read all instructions and important safeguards.
  2. Remove all packaging materials and check for good condition.
  3. Dispose of plastic bags properly to prevent child risk.
  4. Wash accessories in warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
  5. Clean the inner pot with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly before returning to the cooker.
  6. Wipe the cooker body clean with a damp cloth.

To Clean

  1. Remove and empty the condensation collector.
  2. Soak the inner pot and accessories or wash on the top rack of the dishwasher.
  3. Wipe the cooker body clean with a damp cloth.
  4. Thoroughly dry the cooker body and all accessories.
  5. Reassemble for next use.

Note: Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Dishwasher washing may cause slight, cosmetic discoloration to the inner pot and accessories.

Troubleshooting

Note: Results may vary with different rice varieties. These tips help achieve desired consistency.

Error Code Chart

Cooking Rice

Follow these steps for cooking rice:

  1. Use the provided measuring cup to add rice to the inner pot.
  2. Rinse rice to remove excess starch and drain.
  3. Fill with water to the line matching the number of cups of rice.
  4. Place the inner pot into the cooker and close the lid securely.
  5. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC wall outlet.
  6. Press the Keep Warm/▶️ button to turn on the cooker.
  7. Press the White Rice or Brown Rice button, depending on the rice type.
  8. The cooker will start, indicated by a light and a chasing pattern on the display.
  9. The cooker counts down the final 6 minutes for white rice and 10 minutes for brown rice.
  10. Once finished, the cooker beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  11. Stir the rice with the serving spatula for better results.
  12. When finished serving, turn off the cooker by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug the power cord.

Note: Ensure the inner pot is dry before use. Brown Rice requires a longer cycle with a low-heat soak. Do not leave rice on Keep Warm for over 12 hours.

Helpful Hints: The Aroma measuring cup is equivalent to ¾ US cup. Substitute broth for water for added flavor. Refer to the Rice & Water Measurement Table on page 8 for ratios and times.

Note: Rinse rice before cooking to reduce browning and sticking. Use the Delay Timer for brown rice to have it ready when needed. This chart is a general guide; measurements may vary.

Using Delay Timer

Follow these steps to use the Delay Timer:

  1. Add rice and water to the inner pot, matching water level to rice quantity.
  2. Place inner pot in cooker, close lid securely.
  3. Plug in the cooker.
  4. Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on.
  5. Press Delay Timer, then use (+) to set desired hours (1-15 for White Rice, 2-15 for Brown Rice).
  6. Press White Rice or Brown Rice button.
  7. The display counts down the set time.
  8. Once cooking begins, a chasing pattern appears.
  9. The cooker counts down the final cook time.
  10. When finished, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  11. Stir rice for best results.
  12. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

Note: Brown Rice delay is limited to 2 hours or more. Do not leave rice on Keep Warm for over 12 hours.

Caution: After cooking time expires, the cooker enters Keep Warm mode. Follow recipes carefully and do not leave unattended.

Oatmeal

To prepare oatmeal:

  1. Add 1 cup oatmeal and 2½ cups water to the inner pot (do not exceed 1 cup oatmeal to avoid overflow).
  2. Place inner pot in cooker, close lid securely.
  3. Plug in the cooker.
  4. Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on.
  5. Press Oatmeal to begin.
  6. Cooking indicator light illuminates, display shows a "chasing" pattern.
  7. Use caution with steam when opening lid; stir occasionally.
  8. Once complete, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  9. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

Caution: Cooker will not switch to Keep Warm until all liquid has evaporated. Do not use the provided serving spatula for sautéing; use a heat-safe spoon.

Risotto

To prepare risotto:

  1. Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on the cooker.
  2. Press the Risotto button; it beeps and shows a chasing pattern.
  3. Add oil if desired for sautéing. Close lid and preheat for 2-4 minutes.
  4. Open lid, add ingredients for sautéing, and stir evenly.
  5. When sautéing is finished, add other ingredients and liquid, then stir.
  6. Close lid; cooker automatically reduces heat to simmer.
  7. When cooking finishes, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  8. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

Caution: Cooker will not switch to Keep Warm until all liquid has evaporated. Do not use the provided serving spatula for sautéing; use a heat-safe spoon.

Slow Cook

To use the Slow Cook function:

  1. Add food and liquid to the inner pot.
  2. Place inner pot in cooker, close lid securely.
  3. Plug in the cooker.
  4. Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on.
  5. Press Slow Cook; display shows flashing '2' for 2 hours.
  6. Use (-) or (+) to adjust time (1-10 hours).
  7. Once time is selected, the cooker beeps and the display stops flashing.
  8. The cooker begins slow cooking, counting down in one-hour increments.
  9. When finished, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  10. Open lid to check if food is done. Remove for serving.
  11. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

Caution: Cooker will not switch to Keep Warm until all liquid has evaporated. Do not use the provided serving spatula for slow cooking; use a heat-safe spoon. Slow cooking requires liquid; without it, the cooker switches to Keep Warm.

Steam

To steam food:

  1. Add 3 cups of water to the inner pot.
  2. Place inner pot in cooker.
  3. Place food to be steamed onto the steam tray, then place the tray in the cooker.
  4. Close lid securely.
  5. Plug in the cooker.
  6. Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on.
  7. Press Steam; display shows flashing '5' for 5 minutes.
  8. Use (-) or (+) to adjust time (up to 30 minutes).
  9. Once time is selected, the cooker beeps and the display stops flashing.
  10. When water boils, the display counts down the selected time.
  11. When time passes, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  12. Check food for doneness. Remove carefully with a heat-resistant glove.
  13. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

Helpful Hints: Smaller foods can be placed on a dish on the steam tray. Parchment paper or foil can be used, but ensure it has holes and doesn't seal the tray bottom. Refer to steaming tables on page 14 for times.

Steam & Cook Rice

To steam food while cooking rice:

  1. Add rice and water to the inner pot, matching water level to rice quantity.
  2. Place inner pot in cooker, close lid securely.
  3. Plug in the cooker.
  4. Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on.
  5. Press White Rice or Brown Rice.
  6. The cooker starts, indicated by a light and chasing pattern.
  7. Place food to be steamed onto the steam tray.
  8. Use caution with steam when opening the lid.
  9. Place steam tray into the cooker, close lid securely.
  10. Use caution when opening lid to check food.
  11. If food is done, remove steam tray. Wear a heat-resistant glove.
  12. Allow the cooker to continue cooking rice.
  13. Once rice is finished, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  14. Stir rice for best results.
  15. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

Note: Do not cook more than 2 cups (uncooked) rice when steaming simultaneously. Steam during the end of the rice cycle for best results. Do not leave rice on Keep Warm for over 12 hours.

Helpful Hints: Refer to Steaming Tables on page 14 for times.

Cooking Barley

To cook barley:

  1. Add rinsed barley and a little oil to the inner pot.
  2. Fill with liquid according to the ratio chart.
  3. Place inner pot in cooker, close lid securely.
  4. Plug in the cooker.
  5. Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on.
  6. Press Delay Timer, set for 4 hours, then press Brown Rice.
  7. The display counts down the selected time.
  8. The cooker starts cooking with an indicator light and chasing pattern.
  9. It counts down the final 12 minutes.
  10. Once finished, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  11. Let barley sit on Keep Warm for 10 minutes before serving.
  12. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

Cooking Bulgur

To cook bulgur:

  6. Press Brown Rice.
  7. The cooker starts cooking with an indicator light and chasing pattern.
  8. It counts down the final 12 minutes.
  9. Once finished, it beeps and switches to Keep Warm.
  10. Let bulgur sit on Keep Warm for 10 minutes before serving.
  11. Turn off by pressing Keep Warm/▶️ and unplug.

NOTE: Min & Max Cup Amount refers to the plastic measuring cup. A ¾ standard US cup is an exact replacement.

Cooking Couscous

To cook couscous:

  7. The cooker starts cooking with an indicator light and chasing pattern.
  8. It counts down the final 10 minutes.

To cook quinoa:

Recipes

Frittata

Instructions: Add 1 tbsp olive oil to the inner pot. Select White Rice function and heat. Add bell pepper, potato, spinach, and zucchini. Close lid and cook, stirring occasionally. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, cheese, salt, pepper, and half-and-half. Add egg mixture to softened vegetables. Cooker will switch to Keep Warm automatically. Serve when ready.

SERVES 6-8.

Green Chili Chicken Rice

Instructions: Press Keep Warm/▶️ to turn on. Add all ingredients to the inner pot and stir. Place inner pot in cooker, cover, and press White Rice. Cook until Keep Warm is activated. Add salt to taste. Stir and serve.

SERVES 4.

French Toast Casserole

Instructions: Slice Hawaiian rolls and spread in the inner pot. Whisk together butter, eggs, half-and-half, cinnamon, vanilla extract, honey, and salt in a separate bowl. Stir in crushed pecans. Pour mixture over rolls. Select White Rice function. If needed, press White Rice again. Serve with syrup or topping.

SERVES 3-6.

Jambalaya

Instructions: Cut smoked sausage into ¼" half circles. Add all ingredients to the inner pot and mix well. Place inner pot in cooker, close lid, and set to White Rice. The cooker will switch to Keep Warm when ready.

Aroma Housewares Company warrants products against defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase in the United States. During this period, Aroma will repair or replace defective parts at no charge, provided the product is returned freight prepaid with proof of purchase and a $20.00 handling fee. Call for a return authorization number; allow 2-4 weeks for return shipping.

This warranty does not apply if the product has been modified, subjected to abuse, improper use, extreme environmental conditions, neglect, or improper installation. It also does not cover Force Majeure events (flood, lightning, earthquake, etc.), war, vandalism, theft, or brownouts/sags.
