Honeywell UDC2500 Universal Digital Controller Quick Start Guide

Step 1. Model Number Interpretation

Write your controller model number in the boxes provided. Refer to Tables I, II, and III to identify your controller's features. A dot indicates the feature is available.

Step 2. Dimensions and mounting

A diagram shows the dimensions for panel cutout and mounting. The maximum panel thickness is 19.1 mm (0.75 inches). The panel cutout is 92.0 mm (3.62 inches) square.

Step 3. Wiring

A wiring diagram illustrates the connections for AC/DC power, outputs, alarms, digital inputs, and communication ports (RS485, Ethernet).

Step 4. Configuration Procedure

This section outlines the steps to configure the controller:

  1. Enter Set Up Mode: Press the 'Setup' button. The upper display shows 'SET' and the lower display shows 'TUNING'.
  2. Select Set Up Group: Press 'Setup' or arrow keys to navigate through group titles. Stop at the desired group.
  3. Select Function Parameter: Press 'Function'. The upper display shows the current value, and the lower display shows the function prompt.
  4. Change Value/Selection: Use the arrow keys (up/down) to increment or decrement the value or selection. Press 'M-A/RESET' to recall the original value if needed.
  5. Enter Value/Selection: Press 'Function' to enter the modified value or selection.
  6. Exit Configuration: Press 'Lower Display' to exit configuration mode. Changes are saved. The controller times out after 30 seconds of inactivity.

Step 5. Configuration Record Sheet

This section provides a template to record the controller's configuration values for future reference. It includes fields for Group Prompt, Function Prompt, Value or Selection, and Factory Setting for various parameters like TUNING, SPRAMP, ALGOR, INPUT1, INPUT2, ALARMS, COM, and DISPLAY.

Step 6. Start Up Procedure for Operation

This section details the startup procedure for both single and dual display models:

Single Display

  1. Configure Controller: Ensure the controller is configured and values are recorded.
  2. Select Manual Mode: Press 'M-A/RESET' until the 'M' indicator is ON.
  3. Adjust Output: Use the arrow keys to adjust the output value. The controller is in manual mode.
  4. Select Automatic Mode: Press 'M-A/RESET' until the 'A' indicator is ON. The controller will automatically adjust the output to maintain the process variable at setpoint.

Dual Display

  1. Enter Local Setpoint: Press the 'Lower Display' key until 'SP' appears. The upper display shows the PV, and the lower display shows the SP and its value.
  2. Set Limit Setpoint: Use the up and down arrow keys to set the desired limit setpoint.
  3. Store Limit Setpoint: Press the 'Lower Display' key to store the value.
  4. Limit Flashing: If the display flashes 'Limit', press the 'Auto-Man/Reset' key.
