READ ALL WARNINGS AND GUIDELINES BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT.

WARNING:

When using an electrical product, always follow basic safety precautions to avoid electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury, including the following:

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of damage:

Grounding Instructions:

This appliance must be grounded. If it malfunctions or breaks down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with an electrical cord having an equipment-grounding conductor (C) and a grounding plug (A). The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet (B) that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

Diagram 1: Illustration of a 3-prong grounded plug (A) and a properly grounded outlet (B).

Diagram 2: Illustration of a temporary adapter (D) for a 2-prong outlet (E), with a rigid grounding lug (F) connected to a permanent ground (G) such as a properly grounded outlet box cover.

WARNING:

Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or technician if you are unsure whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is designed for use on a nominal 120 V circuit. It is equipped with a grounding plug similar to the plug (A) illustrated in Figure 1.

A temporary adapter (D) may be used to connect this plug to a 2-prong outlet (E), if a properly grounded outlet is not available (Figure 2). The temporary adapter should only be used until a properly grounded outlet (B) can be installed by a qualified electrician (Figure 1). The rigid lug (F) or any other rigid projection of the adapter must be properly connected to a permanent ground (G) such as a properly grounded outlet box cover (Figure 2). When the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw. NOTE: In Canada, the use of a temporary adapter is not permitted by the Canadian Electrical Code.
