- Do not pull the appliance by the cord, do not use the cord as a handle, do not close doors on the cord, and do not route the cord around sharp corners or edges. Do not place the appliance on the cord. Avoid rolling the appliance over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not pull the cord to unplug the appliance. To unplug, pull the plug, not the cord.
- Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS:
This appliance must be grounded. If it malfunctions or breaks down, grounding provides an electrical path of least resistance to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with an electrical cord having a grounding conductor (C) and a grounding plug (A). The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet (B) that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are not certain that the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance. If it will not fit the outlet, have a qualified electrician install a proper outlet. This appliance is designed for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding plug similar to plug (A) illustrated in Figure 1.
Figure 1 shows a standard three-prong grounded outlet (B) and the appliance's grounding plug (A) with a grounding pin (C).
Figure 2 shows a temporary adapter (D) that can be used to connect this plug to a two-prong outlet (E) if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should only be used until a qualified electrician can install a properly grounded outlet (B) (Figure 1). The rigid part, slot, or other part (F) of the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground (G), such as a properly grounded outlet box cover (Figure 2). When the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw. NOTE: In Canada, the use of a temporary adapter is not permitted by the Canadian Electrical Code.
