Room Thermostat Placement
For optimal performance, the Room Thermostat should be placed in the most frequently used room, such as a living room or lounge. Avoid locations with poor air circulation (e.g., near room entrances or windows), direct sunlight, or proximity to heating/cooling units like radiators or stoves. The thermostat should ideally be mounted approximately 150 cm above the floor. Experimentation may be needed to find the most suitable spot.
Battery Placement
Before installing batteries, ensure the device connected to the thermostat is powered off and the energy supply is cut.
To replace batteries: Use a screwdriver to press into the indicated slot on the thermostat casing, bend the tabs, and separate the front cover. Insert two new AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Replace both batteries simultaneously. Align the front cover with the back and press firmly to secure it.
Low Battery Warning: When the "Low Battery Warning" indicator appears on the screen, it is recommended to replace the batteries.
Important Warning: If the product will not be used for an extended period (over 15 days), remove the batteries to prevent potential malfunctions, which would void the warranty. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
Room Thermostat Wiring Diagram
The wiring diagram illustrates the connection points for the heating/cooling unit. It shows terminals labeled 'NO' (Normally Open) and 'COM' (Common) on the thermostat's wall hanger. The connection requires a 2x0.75 mm² cable. Connect one end to the thermostat's connection terminals as specified in the heating/cooling unit's manual, and the other end to the 'COM' and 'NO' inputs on the wall hanger.
Warning: All operations related to the heating/cooling unit or electrical installation must be performed by professionally qualified personnel.
Room Thermostat Temperature Calibration
Temperature sensors in room thermostats are highly sensitive. Calibration may be necessary to match readings with other thermometers in the room.
To calibrate:
- With the device turned off, press and hold the setting button for 3 seconds.
- Press the button again until the "Calibration" menu appears.
- Adjust the temperature difference (between -8°C and +8°C) by turning the button left or right to match desired readings.
- To save and exit, press the ON/OFF button until the device turns off.
Note: A recommended calibration setting is 0.0°C.
Room Thermostat Heating/Cooling Modes
The thermostat supports both heating and cooling modes. To switch between them:
- With the device turned off, press and hold the setting button for 3 seconds.
- Press the button until the "Mode" menu appears.
- Select either "Heating" or "Cooling" mode by turning the button left or right.
- To save the selected mode and exit, press the ON/OFF button until the device turns off.
The chosen settings will be saved and applied upon the next power-on.
Factory Settings Reset
You can restore the thermostat to its original factory settings, including calibration and mode configurations.
To reset:
- With the device turned off, press and hold the setting button for 3 seconds.
- Press the button until the "Reset" menu appears.
- In the "Reset" menu, turn the button left or right to select the "Reset Option" and press the button to confirm.
The device will turn off and restart with factory default settings.
TPI Room Thermostat Working Logic
The MITRA 230S utilizes a TPI (Time Proportional Integral) algorithm for advanced temperature control. TPI technology predicts when room temperature will deviate from the set point and adjusts the heating/cooling unit accordingly, ensuring stable temperatures and energy efficiency.
What is TPI?
TPI technology is designed to optimize energy efficiency by precisely managing the on/off timings of your heating/cooling system to maintain the desired room temperature with minimal deviation.
How does TPI work?
Leveraging artificial intelligence, the thermostat adapts to environmental changes. It learns the time required to reach and maintain the set temperature, creating a thermal map of the room. This allows it to calculate the optimal operational duration for the heating/cooling unit, thereby minimizing energy consumption.
What is the difference?
Unlike traditional On/Off thermostats that cycle frequently, TPI thermostats provide more stable temperatures and greater energy savings. Non-TPI thermostats may lead to greater temperature fluctuations and less energy control due to continuous on/off cycles.
Heating Mode
In heating mode, the thermostat uses the average room temperature over the last 40 seconds. The TPI algorithm learns the room's thermal behavior to maintain the temperature within a specific range, ensuring comfort and efficiency.
Textual description of the Heating Mode Working Graphic: A graph showing Temperature (°C) on the Y-axis and Time on the X-axis. It depicts a 'Desired Temperature' line and a 'TPI Room Thermostat' line, illustrating how the TPI system aims to maintain the room temperature close to the set point, minimizing fluctuations.
Cooling Mode
Similarly, in cooling mode, the thermostat averages room temperature over 40 seconds and applies the TPI algorithm to learn and maintain the desired cooling temperature efficiently.
Textual description of the Cooling Mode Working Graphic: Similar to the heating graph, this illustrates temperature control in cooling mode, showing the 'Desired Temperature' and 'TPI Room Thermostat' lines to represent temperature control in cooling scenarios.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Room Thermostat compatible with my heating/cooling unit?
Your Room Thermostat is compatible if your heating/cooling unit has on-off connections. Consult your unit's operating manual or service provider for specific compatibility information.
How will I connect my Room Thermostat to the heating/cooling unit?
It is recommended that the connection be made by professionally qualified persons. A 2x0.75 mm² cable is sufficient. Connect one end to the thermostat's connection terminals (as per the unit's manual) and the other end to the 'COM' and 'NO' inputs on the thermostat's wall hanger.
