LG Smart TV Quick Setup Guide
This guide provides essential information for setting up your LG Smart TV, covering network connectivity, smart features, software updates, and wireless display options.

Network Connection
Connect your LG Smart TV to the internet for access to online features and updates.
Wireless Network Connection
For Wi-Fi Ready Models: Applicable for Wi-Fi ready models only. An LG wireless dongle is sold separately.

Wired Network Connection
For a stable Internet connection, it is recommended to use a wired connection or place the wireless router close to the TV.

Network Settings Configuration
Configure your TV's network settings to establish an internet connection.
Accessing Network Settings
- Press the ? [Home button] on the remote to access the Home menu.
- Highlight the ⚙️ [Settings icon] and select by pressing the ? [OK button] on the remote.
Connecting to a Network
- Select Network → Wired Connection or Wi-Fi Connection.
- The TV will automatically attempt to connect to the available network (wired connection is prioritized).
- If selecting Wi-Fi Connection, a list of available networks will be displayed. Choose the network you wish to use.
For wireless AP (Router) that have the ? [Wi-Fi symbol] symbol, you will need to enter the security key.
Connection Status and Advanced Settings
Once connected, the TV will display "Connected to Internet".
You can check the detailed connection status in the Advanced settings menu.

Network Troubleshooting
If you encounter connection issues, follow the troubleshooting steps below based on the status indicators.

Troubleshooting: ❌ next to TV
- Verify the connection status of the TV and the AP (Router).
- Power cycle the TV and the AP (Router) by turning them off and on again.
- If you are using a static IP address, enter it directly.
- Contact your Internet service provider or AP (Router) manufacturer for assistance.
Troubleshooting: ❌ next to Gateway
- Unplug the power cord of the AP (Router), wait 5 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Initialize (Reset) the AP (Router) to its factory default settings.
- Contact your Internet service provider or AP (Router) manufacturer for assistance.
Troubleshooting: ❌ next to DNS
- Unplug the power cord of the AP (Router), wait 5 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Initialize (Reset) the AP (Router) to its factory default settings.
- Confirm that the MAC address of the TV/AP (Router) is registered with your Internet service provider. (The MAC address is displayed on the right pane of the network status window.)
- Visit the AP (Router) manufacturer's website to ensure your router has the latest firmware version installed.
SmartShare PC Software Installation & Setting
Install and configure the SmartShare PC software to enable content sharing between your PC and TV.
- Install the SmartShare PC SW program on your PC.
- Visit www.lg.com and select your region.
- Navigate to SUPPORT, then search for your specific TV model.
- Select Drivers & Software or SOFTWARE UPDATE, and then choose the SmartShare PC SW.
- Run the installed program once the installation is complete.
❗ NOTE: SmartShare service is only available when the TV and other devices are connected via a single AP (Router).
SmartShare Connection to Smartphone
Share content from your smartphone to your LG Smart TV using the SmartShare feature.
- Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your smartphone. Both devices must be connected to the same local network.
- Install or run the content-sharing app on your smartphone (this app is called SmartShare on LG phones).
- Configure your smartphone to share content files with other devices.
- Open the SmartShare application: Navigate ? [Home] → SmartShare.
- Select the type of media file you wish to play (e.g., movie, audio, or photo).
- Choose a specific movie, music, or photo file to play on the TV.
- Play the selected media file to view and enjoy it on your TV.

Updating the TV Firmware
Keep your LG Smart TV up-to-date with the latest firmware for optimal performance and new features.
If the TV is turned on for the first time after a software update, initialization may take up to one minute.
Navigate: ? [Home] → ⚙️ [Settings] → General → About This TV → CHECK FOR UPDATES.
After checking the software version, proceed with the update. Enabling the "Allow Automatic Updates" option ensures your TV updates automatically.

Wi-Fi Direct Setting
Connect portable devices directly to your TV without a local network using Wi-Fi Direct. This feature also allows sharing files or screens of connected devices via SmartShare.
- If Wi-Fi Direct is set to ON, a list of available devices will appear.

- When prompted to request a connection, select Yes. Wi-Fi Direct will then be connected to your TV.
To minimize interference with other Wi-Fi devices, it is recommended to set Wi-Fi Direct to Off when not in use. This feature is only compatible with devices that support Wi-Fi Direct.
Miracast Setting
Miracast enables a portable device to securely send video and sound wirelessly to your TV.
Navigate: ? [Home] → Screen Share.
- Ensure Miracast is set to "ON" on your portable device.
- When your TV is detected, select the device on your portable device.
Upon successful connection, the TV screen will be mirrored on your device.

WiDi (Wireless Display) Setting
Intel's WiDi (Wireless Display) technology provides a fast, wireless connection for mirroring your laptop screen or extending it as a dual monitor on your TV. Enjoy your favorite content in full HD with excellent clarity and sound.
Navigate: ? [Home] → Screen Share.
- Set Intel's WiDi to On. Connect your laptop to an Access Point (AP) or router; connection via an AP is recommended. Your laptop will run the Intel WiDi program.
- The system will detect available LG Smart TVs that support WiDi. Select your TV from the list and click Connect.
- Enter the PIN number displayed on the TV screen into the corresponding input field on your laptop and click Continue.

The TV screen will then appear on your laptop screen. Note that the wireless environment may affect screen display quality, and a poor connection could lead to disconnection.
LG TVs do not require registration for this feature.
