Mounting
NOTE: Blaupunkt strongly recommends operating your system at low volume levels prior to the completed installation of your Blaupunkt speakers to test subwoofers before permanently securing them.
CAUTION: Ensure all speaker wiring is fully protected from cuts, tears, and wear. Short circuits can severely damage the source unit or amplifier. Make sure speaker wires easily reach terminals without stress.
IMPORTANT: Never cut any metal that is an integral part of the vehicle's safety or structural support system. If unsure about component importance, have speakers professionally installed.
CHOOSING A LOCATION: Plan the complete installation before attempting. Route wires, power connections, and mounting locations first. Check all work thoroughly before system operation.
The placement of Blaupunkt speakers greatly affects audio system performance. Vehicle models differ, so installation may require modification. Refer to your vehicle's manual for sound system information. Blaupunkt speakers are designed to fit most factory locations. If possible, use a factory location, especially in later model cars. For earlier models without factory locations or limited to front speakers, choose a location with sufficient air space. Insufficient air space may hinder low-frequency reproduction. Ideally, mount speakers in enclosed air spaces (e.g., door panels, kick panels, rear decks) for extended bass response.
Troubleshooting
If you experience distorted sound or loss of performance after installing your speakers, follow these instructions to identify the cause:
Issue 1: Distorted Sound, Loss of Performance, or Rattling
Check connections running from your amplifier or other processors to the speakers. Also, verify connections inside the speaker enclosure to ensure no wires have become unhooked or are loose.
Issue 2: Continued Performance Loss or Distortion
Thoroughly inspect the speaker enclosure for any leaks, cracks, or broken pieces. Loss of structural integrity can cause significant performance loss and distortion.
Issue 3: Burned Wire Leads or Separated Components
Remove the speakers and inspect for burned wire leads or separated components. A burning smell often indicates a blown or failing speaker. Overheating can occur from playing at high volumes for extended periods.
Issue 4: Persistent Problems
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, examine other components in the vehicle. Check all connections to and from the speaker enclosure, amplifier, source unit, or any other processors. Consult the respective manufacturer's documentation for setting configurations or troubleshooting.
Warnings
Investigate your automobile's layout thoroughly before drilling or cutting any holes. Exercise caution when working near gas tanks, gas lines, hydraulic lines, and electrical wiring.
Securely attach the system to the automobile to prevent damage, especially in the event of an accident. Do not mount the system in a way that leaves wire connections unprotected or subject to pinching or damage.
The +12V DC power wire must be fused at the battery positive terminal connection. Before making or breaking power connections, disconnect the +12V wire at the battery end. Confirm your radio/head unit or other equipment is turned off while connecting input jacks and speaker terminals.
If the power fuse needs replacement, use only a fuse identical to the one supplied with the system. Using a different type or rating may result in system damage.
General Warning: Continuous, excessive exposure to sound pressure levels exceeding 85dB can cause hearing loss. While Blaupunkt sound systems can produce levels above 85dB, they are designed for enjoyment at reasonable levels. Observe all local sound ordinances.
