Tuning Procedure
Meter Mode
Use the VU-style meter in the display to tune your instrument.
- Connect your instrument or microphone to the INPUT jack. If using the built-in mic, do not connect anything to the INPUT jack and place the instrument close to the mic.
- Press the power switch. The tuner will automatically turn off after 20 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery.
- Press the [GUITAR/BASS] switch to select GUITAR or BASS mode.
- Play a single note on your instrument. The display will show the nearest note name. Tune your instrument to match the displayed note.
- Tune your instrument so the meter needle is centered and the center tuning guide indicator is lit (for A=440 Hz reference pitch). The left indicator lights if flat, the right if sharp. Each meter marking represents 2 Hz.
A quiet environment is recommended for precise tuning with the built-in mic.
Sound Mode
Tune while listening to a reference pitch.
- Set up as described in steps 2-3 of Meter mode.
- Press the [SOUND] switch to enter Sound mode.
- Press the [SOUND] switch until the desired reference note appears in the display.
- Listen to the reference pitch from the GA-1 and tune your instrument accordingly.
Flat Tuning
Tune to a pitch lowered by 1-5 semitones.
- In Meter or Sound mode, select the note you wish to flatten.
- Press the [FLAT] switch to select the number of semitones (1-5) to lower the note. The display will show ♭ to ♭♭♭♭♭.
