Parts of the Tuner
The tuner features a note name indicator, reference pitch indicator, pure major/minor third indicators, a meter, a battery indicator, a left shuttle switch, and a right shuttle switch. The battery compartment is located on the rear.
Installing the Battery
When the battery is low, a battery indicator ( ) will appear on the display. Replace the battery promptly with a new one. Batteries are not included.
- Open the battery compartment cover on the rear of the tuner by sliding it in the direction of the arrow.
- Insert a new battery, observing correct polarity, and close the cover.
Tuning Procedure
- Turn the left shuttle switch upward to turn the tuner on. Turning it again turns it off. The tuner has an auto power-off function, shutting down after approximately 20 minutes of inactivity.
- If necessary, adjust the reference pitch (calibration) using the right shuttle switch.
- Play a single note on your instrument. The note name indicator will display the closest note. Ensure the correct note name is shown and the center meter segments (✔️) light up for accurate tuning.
Tuning to Pure Thirds: To tune to a pure major or minor third above a note, adjust the pitch so the meter aligns with the respective pure third marks. For example, to tune a pure major third above A, set the note name to C# and tune until the left meter segment (✔️) is lit. For a pure minor third above A, set the note name to C and tune until the right meter segment (✔️) is lit.
Note: The tuner may not accurately detect pitches with many overtones or rapid decay. It may also respond to ambient vibrations.
Settings
Reference Pitch Settings (Calibration): Turn the right shuttle switch up or down to increase or decrease the reference pitch (calibration value) in 1 Hz steps. Settings are remembered even when the power is off.
Meter Indication Speed: Turn the left shuttle switch down to change the meter indication speed. 'F' (fast) or 'S' (slow) will appear on the reference pitch indicator.
Backlight: After turning the tuner on, hold the left shuttle switch upward for about 2 seconds to adjust brightness. 'Auto' mode provides bright light when sound or switch operation occurs, dimming after 3 seconds of inactivity to save battery. 'Soft' mode provides a lower brightness level to conserve battery.
