This document provides instructions for the Orbit Three-Port Digital Timer, a device designed to automate outdoor watering schedules for gardens and lawns.
Installation and Setup
Installing the Batteries
To install batteries:
- Locate and remove the battery tray from the back of the timer by sliding it out.
- Insert two AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries (not included).
- Replace the battery tray.
- Replace batteries when the low battery icon appears on the display.
Timer Installation
After programming, attach the timer to your outdoor faucet.
Mounting to the Wall:
For wall mounting:
- Attach the brace to the timer bracket using a nut and bolt.
- Mark the wall where the support rod will touch.
- Drill a pilot hole at the marked location.
- Secure the support rod to the wall using the provided screw.
Programming the Timer
Rotate the dial to the desired position for setup. Use the arrow button to cycle through stations 1, 2, or 3 for programming.
Setting the Clock
- Press the '+' button to advance the clock time. Hold the button for faster advancement.
- Press the '-' button to reverse the clock time. Hold the button for faster reversal.
Setting the Start Time
- Press the '+' button to advance the start time. Hold the button for faster advancement.
- Press the '-' button to reverse the start time. Hold the button for faster reversal.
Setting Watering Duration (How Long)
Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the watering duration for each station, from 1 to 240 minutes.
Setting Watering Frequency (How Often)
Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set how often the timer waters. Options include every 6 hours, every 12 hours, or intervals from 1 to 7 days (1 = daily, 2 = every other day, etc.).
Auto Mode
In AUTO mode, the timer waters according to the programmed time, station, duration, and frequency.
Rain Delay
- When the timer is in AUTO mode, press the '+' button to set a rain delay for 24, 48, or 72 hours.
- The screen will flash between the current clock time and the remaining hours of the delay before the programmed cycle resumes.
- To cancel a rain delay, turn the dial to OFF and then back to AUTO.
Manual/Hand Watering
To water manually without interrupting the set cycle:
- Press the [MANUAL] button.
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the manual watering duration from 1 to 240 minutes.
- To stop manual watering, turn the dial to OFF.
- To resume the programmed cycle, turn the dial back to AUTO.
Troubleshooting
Timer Displays 6:00 AM Constantly
- Check if there is a sticker covering the display.
Valve Will Not Open/Close
- Check if water pressure exceeds 100 PSI.
- Check if batteries are low.
Water Does Not Come On at Desired Time
- Verify the clock is set to the correct time, including AM/PM.
- Verify the start time is set correctly, including AM/PM.
- Check if Rain Delay is active.
- Ensure there are no overlapping start times for different stations.
Timer Does Not Water
- Ensure the timer is set to AUTO mode.
- Confirm the hose faucet and manifold shut-off for the station are open.
- Check if batteries are low.
- Verify the clock is set to the correct time, including AM/PM.
- Check if Rain Delay is active.
Water Won't Turn Off
- Verify the watering duration is set to the desired time.
- Check for overlapping start times.

Warnings
- For outdoor use with cold water only.
- When expecting freezing temperatures, timers should be removed from the hose bib to avoid potential freeze damage.
