Not Compatible: [Rim Lock, Mortise Lock]

B. Door Hole Diameter

Measure the hole in the door. It should be either 2-1/8" (54 mm) or 1-1/2" (38 mm).

Note: Additional door preparation may be required for doors with 1-1/2" (38 mm) holes. Consult kwikset.com/doorprep.

C. Door Thickness

Measure the door thickness. It should be between 1-3/8" and 2" (35 mm and 51 mm).

D. Backset Measurement

Measure the backset (distance from the edge of the door to the center of the large hole). It should be either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60 or 70 mm).

E. Door Edge Hole

Measure the hole in the door edge. It should be 1" (25 mm).

F. Drilling New Doors

If drilling a new door, use the supplied template and refer to complete door drilling instructions available at kwikset.com/doorprep.

Extend the latch bolt by rotating it.

B. Position the Latch

Hold the latch in front of the door hole, with the latch face [flush] against the door edge.

C. Check D-shaped Hole Alignment

Is the D-shaped hole [centered] in the door hole?

YES: No adjustment is required. Proceed to the next step.

NO: [Rotate] the latch face as shown to extend the latch.

D. Install the Latch

Insert the latch into the door hole. Secure it with two screws (03809).

E. Install the Strike

3. Install the Exterior Keypad

A. Door Hole Diameter Check

B. Prepare Mounting Hardware

Locate the screws (48654) for step 3D and keep them within reach.

C. Remove Mounting Plate

Remove the mounting plate from the interior assembly.

D. Install Exterior Keypad and Mounting Plate

Support the exterior assembly during mounting plate installation. Route the cable underneath the latch. Push the cable through the center hole, then into the bottom hole. Ensure the torque blade is [centered] in the mounting plate hole. Keep the assembly parallel to the edge of the door. [Tighten] screws (48654) evenly, but do not overtighten.

E. Test the Latch

Insert the key and test the latch. If it does not extend or retract smoothly, adjust the mounting screws. Remove the key when finished, ensuring the latch bolt is fully extended.
