B. Door Hole Diameter
Measure the hole in the door. It should be either 2-1/8" (54 mm) or 1-1/2" (38 mm).
Note: Additional door preparation may be required for doors with 1-1/2" (38 mm) holes. Consult kwikset.com/doorprep.
C. Door Thickness
Measure the door thickness. It should be between 1-3/8" and 2" (35 mm and 51 mm).
D. Backset Measurement
Measure the backset (distance from the edge of the door to the center of the large hole). It should be either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60 or 70 mm).
E. Door Edge Hole

Is the D-shaped hole [centered] in the door hole?
YES: No adjustment is required. Proceed to the next step.
NO: [Rotate] the latch face as shown to extend the latch.
D. Install the Latch
Insert the latch into the door hole. Secure it with two screws (03809).

3. Install the Exterior Keypad
A. Door Hole Diameter Check
Confirm the door hole diameter (2-1/8" or 1-1/2"). An Adapter Ring is required for 1-1/2" holes; install it on the Exterior Assembly. The Adapter Ring is not needed for 2-1/8" holes.
B. Prepare Mounting Hardware
Locate the screws (48654) for step 3D and keep them within reach.
C. Remove Mounting Plate
Remove the mounting plate from the interior assembly.
D. Install Exterior Keypad and Mounting Plate
Support the exterior assembly during mounting plate installation. Route the cable underneath the latch. Push the cable through the center hole, then into the bottom hole. Ensure the torque blade is [centered] in the mounting plate hole. Keep the assembly parallel to the edge of the door. [Tighten] screws (48654) evenly, but do not overtighten.
E. Test the Latch
Insert the key and test the latch. If it does not extend or retract smoothly, adjust the mounting screws. Remove the key when finished, ensuring the latch bolt is fully extended.
