User Manual

Overview

The SIMOLIO SM-828D1 / SM-828D2 wireless TV hearing assistance and protecting earphone is designed to provide crystal-clear sound for watching television without disturbing others and to prevent hearing damage from prolonged use of standard wireless earphones. Utilizing 2.4GHz Digital Automatic Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology, it offers a wireless connection up to 100 feet. Users can customize their listening experience with balance and tone controls. The voice highlighting and noise-cancelling technology enhances TV dialogues by reducing background sounds and ambient noise, making speech easier to understand at a safe volume.

This system is particularly beneficial for hearing-impaired individuals, offering an improvement over regular hearing aids that amplify all sounds equally. It is compatible with most digital and analog audio output ports found on TVs and set-top boxes. The product includes a magnetic charging stand for convenient charging.

How to Use

Important Notes: The transmitter automatically enters standby mode after 5 minutes of no signal and restarts when an audio signal is detected. The earphone powers off after 10 minutes of no audio signal; slide its ON/OFF switch to OFF and then back to ON to reactivate.

1. Check Your TV/Audio Source Output Options before Setup

The SM-828D1/SM-828D2 is compatible with OPTICAL output, RCA (labeled “AUDIO OUT”), and AUX 3.5mm output. Ensure your TV or audio source has one of these ports. If using optical or 6.35mm phone jacks, adapters may be required.

2. Turn on the Transmitter and Earphone

  1. Power the Transmitter: Connect the supplied AC adapter to a power outlet and the transmitter's DC 5V port.
  2. Turn on the Transmitter: Slide the MONO/STEREO/OFF switch to either “MONO” or “STEREO”.
  3. Turn on the Earphone: Slide the ON/OFF switch to “ON”. It is recommended to charge the earphone for 3 hours before first use.

3. Connect the Transmitter to Your TV/Audio Source

Set your TV/audio source volume to a level sufficient for clear listening (e.g., TV box VOL ≥ 30%, TV VOL ≥ 40%). For quiet viewing, mute the TV or select an output other than TV speakers. The system includes digital optical, RCA, and 3.5mm cables; use only one to connect. Prioritize the optical audio out port if available.

3.1 Digital Optical Connection

Connect the optical audio cable from the TV's “Digital Audio Out (Optical)” port to the transmitter's “OPTICAL IN” port. Ensure plastic caps are removed from the cable ends. If connecting via a TV box, follow similar steps. Keep the transmitter base at least 4 feet away from routers or Wi-Fi devices to prevent interference.

TV Audio Format and Speaker Setting: Ensure the TV's Audio Format is set to “PCM” (or disable Dolby/DTS). Set the TV speaker output to “External Speakers”. Some TVs may require specific settings for simultaneous internal and external speaker output.

3.2 RCA Analog Connection

Connect the red and white ends of the RCA audio cable to the TV's “AUDIO OUT” ports and the single end to the transmitter's “AUDIO IN” port. If connecting via a TV box, follow similar steps. Maintain a distance from routers/Wi-Fi devices.

TV Audio Out Checking and TV Speaker Setting: Verify the TV is using the correct “AUDIO OUT” or “OUTPUT” ports. Set the TV speaker output to “External Speakers”. If your TV only supports single sound out, it may mute its internal speakers. Some TVs allow controlling volume separately via a “Fixed” setting; consult your TV manual.

3.3 3.5mm/AUX Analog Connection

Connect the 3.5mm audio cable from the TV's “Audio Out” (often a headphone port) to the transmitter's “AUDIO IN” port. This may mute the TV's internal speakers. Keep the transmitter at least 4 feet from routers/Wi-Fi devices.

TV Audio Out / TV Speaker Setting: Ensure the TV speaker is set to “Headset”. Test the TV sound using wired headphones connected to the TV's 3.5mm audio out port. Your TV's audio settings might be “Variable” or “Fixed”; “Fixed” is recommended for independent volume control.

3.4 Other Connections in Special Cases

1) TV/Audio Source with Digital Coaxial Audio Out Port

A Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) is required. Connect the coaxial cable from the TV to the DAC's coaxial input, and then use RCA cables from the DAC's RCA output to the transmitter's AUDIO IN. Test audio output from the DAC using headphones. Ensure TV audio format is PCM and speakers are set to External.

2) Optical Audio Out Port Occupied (By-pass Feature)

If the optical port is used by a soundbar, use the by-pass feature with the same cable type. For optical connections, use an optical cable from the TV to the sound system, and another optical cable from the sound system to the transmitter. For AUX/RCA connections, use AUX/RCA cables similarly.

3) Connecting to an AV Receiver with 6.35mm PHONE Jack

Use a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter. Connect the adapter to the AV receiver's 6.35mm headphone out port, then connect the 3.5mm audio cable from the adapter to the transmitter's AUDIO IN. Test the AV receiver's audio output with wired headphones.

4. Use Two Sets of SIMOLIO 2.4GHz Wireless TV Earphones Simultaneously

Place the two sets at least 10 meters apart. Bring the earphone close to the transmitter, turn both on, and ensure their green LED indicators face each other for about 5 seconds. One transmitter can support multiple earphones.

5. Charge the Earphone

  • Method 1 (Charging Stand): Place the earphone on the magnetic charging stand. The charging indicator stays red during charging and turns off upon completion.
  • Method 2 (USB Cable): Connect the earphone to a USB wall charger (5V/0.5-2A) using the included USB cable. The earphone's LED turns red while charging and turns off when complete (approx. 3 hours).
  • Method 3 (Spare Battery): The transmitter has a spare battery compartment. Replace a low-power earphone battery with the spare, and place the discharged battery in the compartment for recharging.

Charging time is approximately 3 hours. Earphones provide about 7 hours of playback, varying with volume.

6. Customizing your SM-828D1 / SM-828D2

  1. Balance Control: Adjust the BAL dial on the earphones for optimal left/right volume balance.
  2. Tone Control: Use the TONE switch (TREBLE/NORMAL/BASS) on the transmitter to find the clearest sound.
  3. Mono/Stereo Option: Select STEREO for music or MONO for clearer TV dialogues. If sound is only heard in one ear, try setting the switch to MONO.
  4. Cleaning Silicone Ear Tips: Gently remove ear tips, clean with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. Reattach to the earphone.
