Bosch Serie 4 Hob Installation Guide
Important Notes
Safety: Safe use is guaranteed only if the installation is technically correct and follows these instructions. The installer is liable for any damage caused by improper installation. Ensure the user cannot access electrical components after installation. This appliance is permitted for use up to 4000 meters altitude.
⚠️ Wearers of electronic implants! The appliance may contain permanent magnets that can affect electronic implants (e.g., pacemakers, insulin pumps). Maintain a minimum distance of 10 cm from electronic implants during installation.
Electric connection: Must be performed only by an authorized specialist technician, adhering to local electricity provider guidelines. The appliance must be connected to a fixed installation with appropriate isolating switches.
Type of connection: Protection class I, requires a grounding conductor connection. The manufacturer is not responsible for malfunctions or damage due to incorrect electrical installations.
Installation below worktop: The induction hob can only be installed above drawers or fan-ventilated ovens. Refrigerators, dishwashers, non-ventilated ovens, or washing machines cannot be installed below the hob.
Extraction chimney: Clearance between extraction chimney and hob must meet the minimum specified in the chimney's installation instructions.
Hob: Must be flat, horizontal, and stable. Follow the hob manufacturer's instructions. The worktop must withstand approx. 60 kg loads; reinforce if necessary with heat and water-resistant material. Check hob evenness only after installation.
Warranty: Improper installation, connection, or assembly invalidates the product warranty.
Note: Any internal appliance work, including power cable replacement, must be done by specially trained Technical Assistance Service personnel.
Preparing the Cupboard (Figures 1/2/3)
Built-in furniture: Must withstand temperatures of at least 90°C.
Cut-out: Remove shavings after cutting. Seal cut surfaces with heat-resistant material.
Assembly over Drawer (Figure 2a)
Worktop: Minimum thickness of 16 mm.
Ventilation: Clearance between worktop surface and top of drawer must be 65 mm.
Note: Use a wooden intermediate bottom if metal items in the drawer heat up due to hob ventilation, or if small pointed metal objects (e.g., skewers) are stored there (Figure 7). The hob has an underside fan. Without an intermediate bottom, do not store small/pointed objects, paper, or cloths in the drawer, as they may hinder cooling or damage the fan. Maintain a minimum 2 cm clearance between drawer contents and the fan inlet.
Assembly over Oven (Figure 2b)
Worktop: Minimum thickness of 16 mm.
Clearance: Between worktop surface and top of oven front must be 30 mm. (Refer to oven manual if distance needs increasing).
Ventilation: Minimum 5 mm clearance between oven and hob.
Note: Use a wooden separation board if the hob is installed above an oven from a different manufacturer (Figure 7).
Ventilation (Figure 3)
Proper ventilation is crucial for correct operation. The underside fan requires sufficient fresh air, so cupboards must be designed accordingly.
Requirements:
- Minimum clearance between cupboard rear and kitchen wall, and between worktop surface and drawer top (Figure 3a).
- An opening at the top rear of the cupboard (Figure 3b).
- If the 20 mm minimum clearance at the cupboard rear is not met, create an opening on the underside (Figure 3c).
Notes: Ensure adequate ventilation if installing in an island unit or other undescribed location. Do not hermetically seal the lower base.
Installing the Appliance (Figures 4/5/6)
Note: Wear protective gloves. Non-visible surfaces may have sharp edges.
Installing the Hob (Figure 4)
Push the appliance into the installation recess. Do not trap or route the mains cable over sharp edges. If an oven is installed below, route the cable via the oven's rear corners to the socket, ensuring it does not contact hot hob or oven parts. For tiled worktops, seal tile joints with silicone rubber.
Installing Hob in 500 mm Deep Worktop Cut-out (Figure 5)
- Mark the center of the worktop cut-out.
- Place the hob.
- Align hob frame markings with worktop markings.
- Push the hob into place.
Do not trap or route the mains cable over sharp edges. If an oven is installed below, route the cable via the oven's rear corners to the socket, ensuring it does not contact hot hob or oven parts. For tiled worktops, seal tile joints with silicone rubber.
Connecting the Appliance (Figure 6)
Voltage: Refer to the rating plate.
Connection: Only connect as shown in the circuit diagram: BN (Brown), BU (Blue), GN/YE (Yellow and Green).
Note: Check operation: If '1400', 'E05 13', or 'E' appears on the display, the appliance is not connected correctly. Disconnect from power and check the power cord connection.
Uninstalling the Appliance
Disconnect the appliance from the mains. Push the hob upwards from below to remove it.
Caution! Damage to the appliance! Do not try to remove by prying from above.
