Overview
The Coppell Independent School District (ISD) is a premier public school system in Texas, recognized statewide for its educational excellence. This innovative district serves over 13,100 elementary and secondary students, each equipped with an iPad device. In early 2025, educators Chandana Mohite and Kristi Howard from Richard J. Lee Elementary School, an Apple Distinguished School, piloted Logitech's tools to enhance iPad-based learning for their second and third graders, many of whom are emerging bilinguals. Students had the opportunity to use Logitech Zone Learn headsets, Rugged Combo keyboard cases, and Crayon digital styluses daily for various learning activities, from independent lessons on DreamBox and Khan Academy to creative projects on Canva, an online graphic design platform.
After using the Logitech solutions for a four-week period, teachers and students were surveyed about their experience, covering aspects from ease of use and enjoyment to student concentration and confidence.

The Challenge
As educators at an Apple Distinguished School, Mohite and Howard constantly strive to improve how technology can break down barriers, inspire new ways of learning, and open new doors to creative expression. As is common in many educational settings, their classrooms comprise students with diverse educational needs, in an environment marked by the typical hustle and bustle of classrooms.
The three main challenges they faced in their classrooms were:
- Lack of confidence in emerging bilinguals and new students: New students, especially emerging bilinguals, often felt uncomfortable with iPad devices and, in many cases, were more hesitant to participate or express their ideas.
- Age-appropriate complementary tools: Educational technology has the potential to increase student engagement and creative expression. However, when technology is not specifically designed for young students and the demands of classroom use, it can contribute to their frustration and disrupt learning time.
- Maintaining focus and managing noise: Classrooms can be noisy environments, especially in the lower grades, where students get distracted by classmates' conversations, classroom equipment noises, and other external sounds. Many students struggle to focus on tasks like writing or reading in a group setting.
“With Logitech tools, students were more willing to step up and be more creative with what they do on their iPad.” - Kristi Howard, Third Grade Teacher
The Solution
The educators introduced a trio of Logitech tools designed to simplify, support, and enhance student learning with the iPad.
Zone Learn Headset
Designed for learning and built for educational institutions, the Zone Learn headset features soft, comfortable earcups and adjustable sliders that ensure an optimal fit, especially for smaller heads. The Zone Learn headset's audio drivers are more optimized for vocal clarity than for music, making them ideal for digital learning applications such as reading, testing, and language learning.
With interchangeable and upgradeable earcups, both on-ear and over-ear, and three different input options (3.5mm AUX, USB-A, and USB-C cables), the Zone Learn integrates seamlessly into any educational institution's technology ecosystem and offers a longer lifespan in the classroom.
Rugged Combo 4 Touch
iPad cases and accessories allow students to interact and learn in new ways while protecting their devices. Adding a keyboard to the iPad makes it easier for students to write, interact with apps, and take notes.
The Rugged Combo 4 Touch offers students the ability to interact with content holistically through its four modes of use: write, draw, read, and view. The Multi-Touch trackpad gives students the freedom to swipe, pinch, and double-tap for any task. The Rugged Combo 4 Touch offers military-grade protection, tamper-proof keys, and a full-sized sealed keyboard for use even in the courtyard.
Logitech Crayon
As younger students are still developing their motor skills, it is important to have writing tools that are easy to use and have an intuitive grip that allows the hand to rest naturally on the screens.
The Logitech Crayon is a versatile, pixel-precise digital pencil for the iPad that allows students to write, draw, take notes, and express their creativity quickly and accurately. It is built with Apple Pencil technology, so it works with countless educational apps, and because it requires no pairing, it can be easily shared in the classroom. Students and educators simply pick it up, turn it on, and start using it. The Crayon's design is intended to help children learn in the most appropriate way for them.
Results
Surveys conducted with students and educators during the pilot phase made the advantages clear: the use of Logitech tools with iPad devices was a resounding success, benefiting both students and teachers.
Improved Concentration
Logitech Zone Learn headsets significantly reduced classroom chatter and noise interruptions, and students found them easy to use without assistance.
“These headphones help students focus on their individual tasks and minimize distractions,” said Chandana Mohite. Kristi Howard added, “The noise cancellation is incredible.”
Students agreed, with 92% reporting that they concentrated better on their schoolwork with the Zone Learn headset (compared to other alternatives previously used). One student commented, “It feels peaceful.”
Confidence and Comfort
Recent research from EdWeek highlights the importance of ergonomics for learning: 74% of teachers stated that students’ physical comfort level when using educational technology influences their level of engagement in learning. The Logitech tools helped students transition to digital projects with confidence and comfort. The integrated support of the Rugged Combo improved posture and facilitated writing. 93% of students reported that the Rugged Combo made it easier to grip and use the iPad, and 85% found it easier to write.
Howard also highlighted that the keyboard's smoothness and quietness were significant improvements over previous alternatives. “They like that it’s discreet and you can’t hear everyone typing,” said Howard. She also loves its durability. “I’m not as stressed anymore when they drop the iPad.”
Creativity and Precision
Both educators observed more robust project-based learning, where students created timelines in Canva, presentations in Keynote, and more.
“With the Logitech Crayon, students could easily annotate and highlight important events and make connections with precision and creativity,” said Chandana Mohite.
“Now that I have these three Logitech products, I can place my iPad upright more easily, use a keyboard, concentrate better, and draw better.” - Third Grade Student
Students immediately noticed how natural it was to hold and use the Logitech Crayon. 90% of students reported that, with the Logitech Crayon, it was easier to write and draw. The Crayon's durable design and ease of charging also made it ideal for classroom use.
Digital classrooms are becoming more common, so tools specifically designed for this purpose are becoming essential allies for student success. The teachers observed that with technology, learning curves were smoother, students were more independent, and the process was more equitable for emerging bilingual students and novice iPad users. “The Logitech tools were a great help. They gave students more confidence to use the iPad and trust their learning more,” said Howard. Dwight Goodwin, Chief Technology Officer for Coppell ISD, added, “It’s also nice to work with a single brand that offers multiple solutions that work seamlessly together.”
