Building Creative, Focused, and Confident Classrooms with Logitech and iPad

Overview

Coppell Independent School District (ISD) is a premier public school system in Texas with a statewide reputation for educational excellence. With 1:1 iPad devices in grades K-12, this innovative district serves over 13,100 learners.

In early 2025, Coppell educators, Chandana Mohite and Kristi Howard, from Richard J. Lee Elementary—an Apple Distinguished School—piloted Logitech tools to enhance iPad-based learning for their second and third grade students, many of whom are emerging bilinguals (EB). Students were given the opportunity to use Logitech Zone Learn headsets, Rugged Combo keyboard cases, and Crayon digital pencils on a daily basis for a variety of learning activities from independent lessons in DreamBox and Khan Academy to creative projects in Canva, an online graphic design platform.

After using the Logitech solutions for a period of 4 weeks, both educators and students were surveyed about their experience on a range of topics from ease of use and enjoyment to student focus and confidence.

Challenge

As educators at an Apple Distinguished School, Mohite and Howard are always striving to enhance how technology can remove barriers, inspire new ways of learning, and unlock new possibilities for creative expression. As is common in many schools, their classes consist of students with diverse educational needs, set against a backdrop of the typical classroom hustle and bustle.

Three key challenges they faced in their classrooms included:

1. Confidence gaps for emergent bilinguals and new students: New enrollees, especially emergent bilingual students, often lacked comfort with iPad devices, and in many cases were more hesitant to participate or express ideas.
2. Age-appropriate companion tools: Edtech has the potential to increase student engagement and creative expression. But when technology is not designed specifically for young learners and the rigors of classroom use, it can contribute to student frustration and disrupted learning time.
3. Staying on task and noise management: Classrooms can be noisy environments, especially in younger grades, where students are distracted by the chatter of nearby peers, the sounds of classroom equipment, and other external noises. Many students find it hard to concentrate on tasks like writing or reading in a group environment.

Solution

The educators introduced a trio of Logitech tools designed to simplify, support, and empower students with learning on iPad.

Zone Learn Headsets

Designed for sustained learning, Zone Learn headsets feature soft, comfortable ear pads and adjustable slider arms that allow for an optimal fit, especially for smaller head sizes. Keyboard cases for iPad enable students to interact and learn in new ways while ensuring their devices remain protected. Adding a keyboard to an iPad makes it easier for students to type, interact with apps, and take notes.

With younger learners still developing their motor skills, it's important to have writing tools that are simple to use and have an intuitive grip that allows for natural hand placement on students' screens.

Logitech Crayon is a versatile, pixel-precise digital pencil for iPad that lets students write, draw, take notes, and express their creativity quickly and accurately. It's built with Apple Pencil technology, so it works with countless learning apps, and it doesn't require pairing which makes sharing a classroom set easy. Students and educators can just pick it up, turn it on, and go. With a kid-friendly design, Crayon empowers students to learn however they do best.

Results

Student and educator surveys from the pilot made the benefits clear: Using Logitech tools with iPad devices was a win for both students and teachers.

Better focus

The Logitech Zone Learn headsets significantly reduced classroom chatter, noise disruptions and were easy for students to use independently.

"These headsets help students concentrate on their individual tasks, minimizing distractions" said Chandana Mohite. Kristi Howard added "The noise suppression is incredible."

Students felt similarly with 92% reporting better focus on their schoolwork with Zone Learn headsets (vs. prior used alternatives). One student shared, "it feels calm."

Comfort & confidence

Recent research from EdWeek shows the importance of ergonomics for learning: 74% of educators say students' level of physical comfort while using educational technology impacts their level of engagement in learning.¹

The Logitech tools helped students transition confidently and comfortably to digital projects. The built-in stand of the Rugged Combo improved posture and typing became easier. 93% of students said the Rugged Combo made the iPad easier to hold and use; and 85% found typing easier.

Howard also noted how the keyboard's softness and quietness were major improvements over previous alternatives. "They like that it is quiet and you can't hear everyone clanking on their keyboards," said Howard. She also loves the durability. "When they drop their iPad, I'm not nearly as stressed."

Creativity & precision

Both educators observed stronger project-based learning with students creating timelines in Canva, presentations in Keynote, and more.

"Using the Logitech Crayon, students were able to easily annotate and highlight important events, drawing connections...with precision and creativity." said Chandana Mohite.

Students immediately noticed how natural it was to hold and use the Logitech Crayon. 90% of students said the Logitech Crayon made writing and drawing easier. The Crayon's durable design and easy charging also made it ideal for classroom use.

As digital-first classrooms become even more prevalent, purpose-built tools like these are becoming essential allies for student success. Teachers noted smoother learning curves with technology, more independent learners, and increased equity for emergent bilingual students and first-time iPad users.

Dwight Goodwin, Executive Director of Technology at Coppell ISD, added, "It's also nice to work with one brand that provides multiple solutions that work seamlessly together."

Statistics:

• 95% of students felt better about their schoolwork performance with Logitech tools.
• 92% of students felt more confident using the iPad with Logitech tools.
• 92% of students said the Logitech tools make using the iPad more comfortable.
