Dash Cam Hardwire Kit Installation Guide
Function of the Dash Cam Hardwire Kit
The typical voltage in a car is 12V, while the universal voltage for dashcams is 5V. The Hardwire Kit reduces the voltage from 12V in the car to 5V for use by the dashcam.
For 24-hour parking mode, a power connection via the Hardwire Kit is required (collision detection and time-lapse video duration).
Warning:
Incorrect connection of the Hardwire Kit can lead to the parking mode being inoperable and damage to the car battery. Hardwire Kit Installation Method: Connect to the vehicle's continuous power fuse. Yellow wire > B+; Red wire > ACC; Connect to the positive terminal of the car battery (controlled by the ignition switch). Black wire > Ground; Ground (attach to the screw in the fuse box).
Installation Method for Hardwire-Kits:
- When selecting an installation location, ensure that the Hardwire Kit can be connected to the car's power source without obstructing the driver's view or interfering with driving operations.
- Before starting the installation, disconnect the power supply to avoid electrical malfunctions or damage to the vehicle.
- Connect the red wire of the Hardwire Kit cable to the ACC in the fuse box, the yellow wire to the vehicle's continuous power source, and the black wire to the ground (use a test pen during the installation process to confirm connections).
- Reconnect the car to the power supply, start the engine, and ensure the dashcam is functioning correctly.
Note:
During wiring, protect the vehicle's internal wiring to ensure the normal operation of other devices. If you are unsure about your actions, we recommend seeking assistance from a qualified professional.
FQA:
- How to activate Park Mode: Park mode is activated via the dashcam's settings menu. Access the dashcam's settings menu, find the "Collision Detection" option, and enable it.
- My Dashcam is not recording videos after parking. What should I do?
- Ensure that it is correctly connected to both the continuous power supply (BAT) and the ignition power supply (ACC).
- Check Dashcam Settings: Ensure that Park Mode is enabled in the settings menu.
- Voltage Test: Use a multimeter to measure the output voltage of the Hardwire Kit. Ensure the output voltage is stable and meets the dashcam's requirements.
- Problems with the Hardwire Kit: If the above checks are satisfactory, the Hardwire Kit may need to be replaced.
- How long can recordings be stored in Park Mode? The recording time depends on the memory card capacity and recording mode. In Parking Detection and Gravity Sensing modes, recording only occurs when an event is detected, leading to longer storage times. Time-lapse videos have smaller recording files and can be stored for longer periods. It is recommended to use a high-capacity memory card and regularly clean or back up recordings.
- Where can I view recordings in Park Mode? Recordings in Park Mode are typically stored on the dashcam's memory card and can be viewed in the following ways:
- Dashcam Playback: Long press the Menu button to access the playback interface. Recordings are saved in a locked file.
- View on Computer: Remove the memory card, insert it into a card reader connected to a computer, and open the playback folder in the file manager.
- Mobile App: Activate the dashcam's Wi-Fi function, connect to your phone's Wi-Fi, open the Viidure app, and view playback files.
