Optional Accessories and Compressor Details
Optional Accessories
- Expansion Valve Kits: Factory installed with R-454B on all indoor units. Available with Chatleff style fitting.
- Freezestat: Senses suction line temperature and cycles the compressor off when it falls below a set point. Opens at 29°F and closes at 58°F. Installs on or near the evaporator discharge line or on the suction line.
- Loss of Charge Switch Kit: Protects the compressor from damage due to low refrigerant charge conditions. It is a SPST, normally-closed switch with automatic reset.
- Indoor Refrigerant Detection System (RDS): Complies with UL 60335-2-40. Required for all systems using R-454B. Factory or field installed, it includes a sensor and control. If refrigerant is detected, it prevents compressor and heating operation until the refrigerant is no longer detected. It also energizes the blower to dissipate refrigerant concentrations. Refer to indoor unit Product Specifications for details.
Compressor
- Single Stage Scroll Compressor: Offers high volumetric efficiency, uniform suction flow, constant discharge flow, high efficiency, and quiet operation. Low gas pulses reduce operational sound. The compressor motor is internally protected from excessive current and temperature. A muffler in the discharge line further reduces operating sound. It is installed on resilient rubber mounts for vibration-free operation.
- Compressor Crankcase Heater: Prevents migration of liquid refrigerant into the compressor and ensures proper compressor lubrication.
- Compressor Sound Cover: Features a polymer outer shell with 1-1/2 inch thick fiberglass insulation, with edges sealed by hook and loop fastening tape.
- Compressor Hard Start Kit: For single-phase PSC compressor motors, this kit may be required for low voltage conditions to increase compressor starting torque.
- Compressor Low Ambient Cut-Off: A non-adjustable switch that prevents compressor operation in cooling mode when the outdoor temperature is below 35°F.
- Compressor Time-Off Control: Prevents compressor short-cycling by allowing time for suction and discharge pressure to equalize, permitting compressor start-up in an unloaded condition. Features a 5-minute automatic reset delay.
- Indoor Blower Off Delay Relay Kit: Delays the indoor blower-off time during the cooling cycle.
- Low Ambient Kit: Allows the unit to operate properly down to 30°F in cooling mode. The heat pump can operate in cooling mode down to 45°F outdoor air temperature without additional controls.
NOTE: Crankcase heater and freezestat should be installed on compressors equipped with a low ambient kit. A compressor lock-out thermostat should be added to terminate compressor operation below recommended operation conditions.
Cabinet and Connections
Cabinet

AHRI Standard 210-240-2023
Cooling or heating capacities are net values, including the effects of blower motor heat, and do not include supplementary heat. Power input is the total power input to the compressor(s) and fan(s), plus any controls and other items required for normal operation. For units without an indoor blower, cooling capacity is reduced by 1250 Btu/h per 1,000 cfm, and heating capacity is increased by the same amount. Total power input for heating and cooling increases by 365 W per 1,000 cfm of indoor air circulated.
