Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Scout's Ring & Record Learning Phone™! Dial up some fun as you explore numbers, the Alphabet Song, weather, greetings in Spanish and Mandarin, and more. You can also save a voice message on the device by using the Record Button. Then, play it back by pressing the Message button or activate the Silly Slider to hear your message added to songs or played in funny voices!
Key components of the phone include:
- Play/Demo switch: Located on the back of the toy to select play or demo mode.
- Silly Slider: Allows for silly sounds or transformed voice messages.
- Off/Low/High volume switch: Controls the device's volume and power.
- Number buttons: Each button offers multiple audio options (number names, learning phrases, silly sounds).
- Message button: Plays pre-recorded fun messages from Scout or user-recorded messages.
- Record button: Used to record voice messages.
- Phone/zero button: Initiates calls to Scout and friends, or answers incoming calls.

Unlock the Packaging Locks:
- Turn the packaging lock counterclockwise several times.
- Pull out and discard the packaging lock.
Activate Standard Play Mode
This product is in Demo mode in the packaging. To activate standard Play mode, please complete the following steps:
- Locate the Play/Demo switch on the back of the toy.
- Slide the switch from Demo to Play.
The recorded message will now be saved when the toy is powered off.
Getting Started: Battery Removal and Installation
- Make sure the unit is turned Off.
- Find the battery cover located on the back of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and then open the battery cover.
- Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.
- Install 3 new AAA (AM-4/LR03) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (For best performance, alkaline batteries or fully charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are recommended.)
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
WARNING: Adult assembly required for battery installation. Keep batteries out of reach of children.

Important: Battery Information
- Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable batteries.
- Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
- Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
- Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
- Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
- Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Rechargeable Batteries:
- Remove rechargeable batteries (if removable) from toy before charging.
- Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
- Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
Product Features
1. Off/Low/High Volume Switch
Slide the selector to Low or High to turn the device on and select the desired volume. To turn the unit off, slide the selector to the Off position.
2. Number Buttons
Each button has three types of audio. Press a button multiple times to cycle through number names, learning phrases, and silly sounds.
3. Message Button
If no user messages have been recorded, press to hear fun messages from Scout. If a user has recorded a message, press this button to hear it.
4. Phone/Zero Button
Press to call Scout and his friends. Sometimes Scout and his friends will even call you! The phone will ring and this button will flash. Press it to answer the call.
5. Record Button
Press to record a message. When you are finished, press again to end the message. The maximum message length is 10 seconds. After a message has been saved, press the Message Button to hear it or move the Silly Slider to the right to listen to it added to a song or played in a funny voice.
6. Silly Slider
Slide to the left to hear silly sounds. If a message has been recorded, slide to the right to hear the message made into a song or listen to it transformed into a funny voice.
7. Play/Demo Switch
When this slider is in Demo, the recorded message will not be saved after the device is powered off. Slide to Play to save a recorded message even when the device is powered off.

Care & Maintenance
- Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
- Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources.
- Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
- Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
Troubleshooting
If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:
- Turn the unit Off.
- Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
- Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
- Turn the unit On. The unit should now be ready to use again.
- If the unit still does not work, install a new set of batteries.

Environmental Phenomena & FCC Compliance
The unit may malfunction if subjected to radio-frequency interference. It should revert to normal operation when the interference stops. If not, it may become necessary to turn the power off and back on, or remove and reinstall the batteries. In the unlikely event of an electrostatic discharge, the unit may malfunction and lose memory, requiring the user to reset the device by removing and reinstalling the batteries.
