Preparation for Installation
Important: Fully charge the lithium-ion battery before installation. This may take around 6 to 8 hours. It is recommended to use a 5V/2A adapter and a Type-C charging cable for optimal charging performance.
Required Tools (Not Provided):
- Phillips screwdriver No. 2 (Do not use an electric screwdriver, as it may damage the lock.)
Installation generally takes less than 30 minutes. For any questions or concerns, please email support@lockin.com.
Checking Door Requirements
Remove the existing lock and check if the door meets the following requirements:
- Door thickness: 1% in - 2¹¹/₆₄ in (35-55 mm)
- Crossbore diameter: 2¹/₁₆ in / 54 mm
- Backset: 2³/₈ in / 60 mm or 2³/₄ in / 70 mm
- Minimum distance between the edge of the door and the center of the door hole: 3 in / 75 mm
- Door edge hole diameter: 1 in / 25.4 mm
Installing the Bolt Lock Body
- Determine if the length of the lock body needs to be adjusted.
- If the backset is 2³/₈ in / 60 mm, insert the lock body directly.
- If the backset is 2³/₄ in / 70 mm, adjust the bolt latch length to 2³/₄ in / 70 mm (180° rotation). Rotate the lock body surface until it reaches the 2³/₄ in / 70 mm position. Ensure the "TOP" indicator is facing upwards.
- Insert the body into the edge bore of the door. Ensure the "TOP" indicator is facing upwards and the T-shaped slot for the tailpiece is in the center of the face hole.
- Before installing the bolt latch, insert the terminal of the door status sensor cable into the edge bore on the side of the door and pull it out from inside the door to straighten it. Be careful not to damage the cable or terminal.
- Ensure the door status sensor cable passes through the space below the bolt latch lock body towards the interior of the door.
Installing the Exterior Assembly
- Measure the crossbore diameter. If it is 2¹/₁₆ in / 54 mm, install the exterior assembly directly.
- Ensure the exterior assembly is vertical and correctly secured. If possible, ask a family member or friend to help hold the exterior assembly to ensure it remains vertical.
- Ensure the cable passes under the bolt latch lock body.
Installing the Exterior Mounting Plate
- Separate the interior mounting plate and the battery housing from the interior assembly.
- Pass the cables through the slot in the mounting plate.
- Align the mounting plate with the threaded screw.
IMPORTANT: Before inserting and tightening the screws, follow these steps:
- Ensure you use the correct screws (refer to the diagram for details), as using the wrong ones can cause installation failure or damage to the lock.
- Pass the door status cable through the mounting plate's cable hole.
- Pass the power and Wi-Fi cables over the door status cable through the mounting plate's cable hole.
- Carefully straighten the door status cable to prevent damage.
- Align and insert the screws, ensuring the cable is placed underneath them without being crushed.
- Manually align the screws with the nuts through the lock body's guide holes, then tighten them with a screwdriver.
For easier installation, ask a helper to hold the exterior assembly to ensure secure fitting and prevent tilting.
Installing the Interior Assembly
- Connect the power, door status, and Wi-Fi cables to the interior assembly's sockets.
Follow these steps for installation:
- Connect the door status cable to port 1.
- Connect the Wi-Fi cable to port 2.
- Connect the power cable to port 3.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the power cable is connected correctly. To disconnect the Wi-Fi cable, gently pull the handle.
- Insert the closing piece into the T-shaped slot of the interior assembly.
Ensure the cables are neatly stored within the interior assembly's hidden space.
Ensure the bolt latch is retracted and adjust the rotating latch to the vertical position.
Place the interior assembly near the door panel and tighten it with the interior assembly screws.
- Check if the latch can extend and retract smoothly by moving the rotating latch without jamming.
- Insert the rechargeable battery, close the battery housing, and check if the device can connect to power and function correctly.
Installing the Strike Plate and Strike Box
Ensure the depth of the latch hole in the door for installing the strike plate is at least 1 inch. Otherwise, the initial calibration process after installation may fail and may lead to malfunction in subsequent use.
- Strike box
- Reinforced strike plate
- Strike plate
- Strike plate screw (#7 1") x 2
- Reinforced strike plate screw (#16 2") x 2
The door sensor in the strike plate must align with the corresponding door sensor in the latch. Option: Install a reinforced strike plate for increased security.
