Einhell Jump Start Cables
Model Series: BT-BO 16/1 A, BT-BO 25/1 A, BT-BO 35/1 A
Introduction
This manual provides operating instructions and safety information for Einhell jump start cables. The integrated overvoltage protection safeguards vehicle electronics from harmful voltage spikes during jump starting and significantly reduces sparking. The LED in the overvoltage protection housing indicates contact between the pole clamps and the battery poles.
Important Safety Precautions
- Ensure the capacity of the supplying battery is not significantly lower than the discharged battery.
- Only connect batteries of identical nominal voltage (e.g., 12V).
- Prevent contact between the vehicle bodies to avoid short-circuiting.
- Keep ignition sources (open flames, burning cigarettes, electric sparks) away from batteries to prevent explosion hazards. Do not lean over batteries due to the risk of caustic burns.
- Ensure the electrolyte of the discharged battery is fluid, even at low temperatures.
- The discharged battery must not be disconnected from its vehicle's electrical system. Switch off the ignition of both vehicles before connecting the jump start cables. For manual transmissions, place the gear lever in neutral. For automatic transmissions, place the selector lever in 'P' and engage the parking brake.
- Ensure the jump start cable leads do not get caught by moving parts in the engine compartment.
- Familiarize yourself with the correct procedure for connecting and disconnecting the jump start cables.
- When removing the jump start cable leads, ensure they do not come into contact with moving engine parts.
Connecting the Jumper Leads
Step 1: Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) pole of the discharged battery (see Figure 1, Position 1).
Step 2: Connect the other red clamp to the positive (+) pole of the donor battery (see Figure 1, Position 2).
Step 3: Connect the black clamp to the negative (-) pole of the donor battery (see Figure 1, Position 3).
Step 4: Connect the other black clamp to a ground point on the vehicle with the discharged battery. This can be a ground strap, a bare metal part on the engine block (see Figure 1, Position 4), or any other suitable unpainted metal surface, as far as possible from the battery to prevent ignition of any explosive gases.
Starting the Engine
Step 1: Start the engine of the donor vehicle and run it at medium speed.
Step 2: Start the engine of the vehicle with the discharged battery. Attempt the start for no longer than 15 seconds. If the engine does not start, wait for 1 minute before trying again.
Disconnecting the Jumper Leads
Once the engine is running smoothly (after 2-3 minutes), disconnect the jumper cables in the reverse order of connection:
Step 1: Disconnect the black clamp from the ground point on the vehicle with the discharged battery (see Figure 1, Position 4).
Step 2: Disconnect the other black clamp from the negative (-) pole of the donor battery (see Figure 1, Position 3).
Step 3: Disconnect the two red clamps from the batteries in any order.
Special Notes for Cars with Catalytic Converters
If the battery is unable to start the engine, only attempt to jump-start using the jump cables and an auxiliary battery. Pushing or towing the car could cause petrol to enter the exhaust system and damage the catalytic converter. Before disconnecting the cables, switch on a high-power electrical consumer to prevent voltage surges in the vehicle's electrical system. Refer to the vehicle's owner's manual or the manuals for auxiliary equipment (e.g., car phone, onboard computer) for specific instructions on battery charging and jump starting.

Disposal Information (EU Countries Only)
Do not dispose of electrical tools with household waste. Used electrical tools must be collected separately and handed over for environmentally compatible recycling in accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU and national legislation.
As an alternative to returning the equipment, the owner is obliged to cooperate in proper disposal if they no longer wish to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to accessories or aids supplied with the old equipment that do not contain electrical components.

- These warranty terms apply exclusively to consumers (natural persons not using the product for commercial, trade, or self-employed activities). They regulate additional warranty services provided by the manufacturer in addition to statutory warranty rights, which remain unaffected. The warranty service is free of charge.
- The warranty covers defects due to material or manufacturing faults on a new product and is limited to the rectification of defects or replacement of the product at the manufacturer's discretion. Einhell products are not designed for commercial, trade, or professional use. A warranty contract is void if the device has been used in such capacities or exposed to similar stresses during the warranty period.
- The warranty does not cover:
- Damage due to failure to follow assembly or operating instructions, incorrect installation, incorrect mains voltage or current type, failure to follow maintenance and safety instructions, exposure to abnormal environmental conditions, or lack of care and maintenance.
- Damage due to misuse or improper application (e.g., overloading, use of unapproved tools or accessories), ingress of foreign bodies (sand, stones, dust), transport damage, use of force, or external forces (e.g., dropping).
- Damage or wear resulting from normal use, natural wear and tear.
- The warranty period is 24 months from the date of purchase. Warranty claims must be submitted within two weeks of noticing the defect and before the warranty period expires. Repairs or replacements do not extend the original warranty period.
- To make a warranty claim, register the defective device at www.isc-gmbh.info. Keep your proof of purchase. Devices returned without proof of purchase or a rating plate are excluded from warranty service due to identification issues. If the defect is covered by warranty, the device will be repaired or replaced promptly.
Einhell also offers chargeable repair services for defects not covered by the warranty or for units outside the warranty period. Please send the device to the service address for such repairs.
For wear parts, consumables, and missing parts, refer to the warranty restrictions in the service information of this user manual.
