Important Safety Instructions
- Always wear safety goggles and gloves when charging batteries. Battery acid can cause burns.
- Do not wear clothing made of synthetic materials while charging batteries to avoid static discharge sparks.
- CAUTION! Explosive gases may be released during charging. Keep away from open flames and sparks. Ensure good ventilation in the charging area.
- Disconnect the charger from the mains before connecting or disconnecting the battery.
- The charger contains components such as switches and fuses that can create electrical arcs and sparks. Ensure adequate ventilation in the garage or charging area.
- The charger is designed for 12V lead-acid batteries only.
- Do not charge non-rechargeable or damaged batteries.
- Follow the battery manufacturer's instructions.
- Disconnect the charger from the mains before connecting or disconnecting the battery terminals.
- Beware of flames and sparks. Explosive gas is released during charging.
- Protect the device from rain, splashes, and moisture.
- Do not place the charger on hot surfaces.
- Keep ventilation slots clear of debris.
- CAUTION! Battery acid is corrosive. Immediately wash any affected skin or clothing with soapy water. If acid gets into your eyes, rinse them with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
- Do not short-circuit the charging clamps.
- Do not charge multiple batteries simultaneously.
- The power cable and charging cables must be in perfect condition.
- Keep children away from the battery and charger.
- CAUTION! If there is a strong smell of gas, there is a risk of explosion. Do not switch off the device or disconnect the charging clamps. Ventilate the room immediately. Have the battery checked by an authorized service center.
- Use the cable only for its intended purpose. Do not carry the device by the cable, and do not pull the cable to remove the plug from the socket. Protect the cable from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
- Check the device for damage. Have damaged parts repaired or replaced by a qualified technician, unless otherwise stated in the manual.
- If the fuse next to the charging current indicator is blown, replace it with a fuse of the same rating.
- Observe the mains voltage (230V – 50 Hz).
- Keep connections clean and protected from corrosion.
- Recharging is recommended at intervals of 4 weeks.
- Disconnect the device from the mains before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
- When connecting and charging the battery, filling with acid, or topping up with water, wear sturdy gloves and safety goggles.
- Repairs should only be carried out by qualified professionals.
Battery Charging Procedure
- Step 1: Loosen and remove the battery caps.
- Step 2: Check the electrolyte level in the battery. If necessary, top up with distilled water. Caution! Battery acid is corrosive.
- Step 3: Connect the red charging cable to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Step 4: Connect the black cable to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
- Step 5: After connecting the battery to the charger, plug the charger into a 230V ~ 50Hz mains socket. Do not connect to a different voltage.
- Step 6: Calculating charging time: The charging time depends on the battery's charge status. For an empty battery, the approximate charging time can be calculated using the following formula: Charging Time (h) = Battery Capacity (Ah) / Charging Current (Arithmetic) (A). Example: 24 Ah / 2.5 A = max 9.6 h.
- Step 7: The exact charge status can be determined by measuring the acid density using a hydrometer. Note! Gases are released during charging. Ensure good ventilation. Acid density values (kg/l at 20°C): 1.28 - Battery is fully charged, 1.21 - Battery is half charged, 1.16 - Battery is discharged.
- Step 8: Pull the plug out of the socket.
- Step 9: First, disconnect the black charging cable from the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
- Step 10: Then, disconnect the red charging cable from the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Step 11: Screw or replace the battery caps.
Overload Protection
- Step 12: The built-in flat fuse protects the device from incorrect pole connection and short circuits. If the fuse is damaged, it must be replaced with one of the same rating. When replacing the fuse, first pull the plug from the socket and remove the charging clamps from the battery. In case of thermal overload, charging is automatically interrupted by a thermal cut-out. Charging will resume automatically after cooling down.
Maintenance and Care of Battery and Charger
- Ensure the battery is always securely installed in the vehicle.
- Ensure proper connection to the vehicle's electrical system.
- Keep the battery clean and dry. Lightly grease the connection terminals with acid-free, acid-resistant grease (e.g., petroleum jelly).
- For maintenance-free batteries, check the electrolyte level approximately every 4 weeks and top up with distilled water if necessary.
- Store the charger in a dry place. Protect the charging clamps from corrosion.
Disposal
Dispose of batteries only at designated collection points. Contact your local authority for information.
