Plumber's Putty Instruction Guide

This guide provides instructions for using plumber's putty for various plumbing applications.

Instructions

  1. Open the lid on the container and remove the desired amount of putty for your application.
  2. Ensure the lid is securely placed back on the container to prevent debris from entering and mixing with the clean putty.
  3. Knead the putty in your hands until it becomes soft and pliable. Form it into a rope approximately 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Place the putty rope around the underside of the product's flange that you are installing. Blend the two ends of the rope together where they meet.
  5. Install your product (e.g., bath waste, shower drain, pop-up or basket strainer). As you secure the product, excess putty will ooze out from under the flange.
  6. After the product is properly secured, remove the excess putty and wipe the area clean.
  7. If using the putty in colder applications, wait 10 minutes after the initial installation. Confirm that the product does not require an additional turn to secure it properly.
  8. Any excess putty that is still clean and free of debris can be blended back into the container.
