Plumber's Putty Instruction Guide
This guide provides instructions for using plumber's putty for various plumbing applications.
Instructions
- Open the lid on the container and remove the desired amount of putty for your application.
- Ensure the lid is securely placed back on the container to prevent debris from entering and mixing with the clean putty.
- Knead the putty in your hands until it becomes soft and pliable. Form it into a rope approximately 1/2 inch thick.
- Place the putty rope around the underside of the product's flange that you are installing. Blend the two ends of the rope together where they meet.
- Install your product (e.g., bath waste, shower drain, pop-up or basket strainer). As you secure the product, excess putty will ooze out from under the flange.
- After the product is properly secured, remove the excess putty and wipe the area clean.
- If using the putty in colder applications, wait 10 minutes after the initial installation. Confirm that the product does not require an additional turn to secure it properly.
- Any excess putty that is still clean and free of debris can be blended back into the container.
