Thank you for purchasing this 600BB Moisture Sensor Kit. The 600BB Moisture Sensor Kit is designed to operate through the baler's ISOBUS system and/or an Apple iPad (not included) using the Hay App. The 600BB Moisture Sensor offers these advantages:
This manual will guide you through the steps of installing the moisture sensor. Please read this manual carefully to learn how to install the equipment correctly. Failure to do so can result in personal injury or equipment malfunction. If you are unsure about installing the system after consulting this manual, contact your local authorized dealership for additional assistance or find contact information on the back cover of this manual. For parts, please refer to the Parts Breakdowns in this manual and contact your local authorized dealer.
Right and Left sides are determined by facing in the direction of forward travel.
The Baler Control Module (BCM) must have Version 4.2.0.0 or higher.
*iPad Mini or iPad 3rd Generation (2012) or newer, running the current iOS operating system or one version previous required for iPad option.
For the CNH Baler to receive the ThirtyPlus or CropSaver System messages regarding Status, Moisture, and preservative, and display this information on the Baler Work Screen, the software in the Baler Control Module (BCM) needs to be updated to version 4.2.0.0 or higher. Dealers can log an ASIST incident and request the BCM software from CNH Technical Support Services if they need the software prior to those release dates.
1. Locate the Dual Channel Processor (DCP): Part number 006-6671LS.
2. Prepare the Baler: Lock the baler flywheel brake and lift open the front hood.
3. Locate Mounting Holes: Find the four holes near the flywheel brake (refer to Figure 1 in the original document).
4. Mount the DCP: Use four 5/16" x 3" hex bolts with flat washers. Position the bolt heads on the inside of the baler frame. Secure to the baler using four 1 1/8" threaded standoffs on the outside of the baler frame. Place four fender washers between the DCP and the standoffs (refer to Figure 2).
5. Position the DCP: Mount the DCP with the display cable pointing downwards towards the baler (refer to Figure 3).
6. Initial Fastening: Attach lock washers and hex nuts to mount the DCP to the baler. Do not tighten fully yet.
7. Install Shield and Final Tightening: Before tightening hardware, install the DCP shield (Part number 001-5650X) over the top two 5/16" bolts, between the fender washers and the DCP mounting plate. Then, tighten all hex nuts (refer to Figure 4).
Route harnesses along the inside of the baler (typically on the left side). Keep harnesses away from moving parts and hydraulic hoses. Secure them using existing cable clamps or cable ties. Once all connections are made to the DCP, secure the wires as shown in the original document's diagram to allow water to shed away from the DCP.
Baler Interface Harness Connection: Locate and remove the Active Terminator from the baler (refer to the image showing the baler interface). Attach the Baler Interface Harness (Part number 006-6650VA) to that location. Reconnect the Active Terminator to the open port of the same harness (006-6650VA).
Locate a safe position in the tractor cab for the Bluetooth Receiver (Part number 030-6672B). The recommended location is as close as possible to where the iPad will be used.
Connect the Power / Communication harness (Part number 006-6650TM) to the bottom of the receiver.
Note: For production year 2018 and later, Bluetooth receivers (030-6672B) are equipped with lights indicating power and iPad connection status:
1. Locate Components: Identify the two star wheel moisture sensors (Part number 030-4641) and twine diverters (Part numbers 001-4644 & 001-4645).
2. Find Mounting Points: Directly behind the knotters, locate the four predrilled holes per side indicated by arrows. This location is beneath the lift points on top of the baler (refer to Figure 5).
3. Install Sensors: Install eight 5/16" X 3" Allen head cap screws (four per side). Ensure the Allen heads are inside the bale chamber. Secure using 5/16" hex nuts (refer to Figure 6).
4. Mount Star Wheels: Install the star wheels below the lift points on the baler.
5. Install Twine Diverters: Place the twine diverters over the star wheel sensors. The twine diverter with two extra holes should be installed on the right star wheel when viewed from the rear of the baler towards the tractor.
6. Secure Components: Secure the star wheels and twine diverters using four M8 hex nuts, lock washers, and two flat washers (refer to Figure 6).
Locate the moisture harness (Part number 006-7303HL).
For each star wheel:
Once both wheels are connected, route the harness towards the DCP. Secure any loose wires with cable ties.
Star Wheel Sensor Wire: Remove the cover from the star wheel block and use a 1/4" nut driver to remove the nut from the electronic swivel. Run the star wheel sensor wire through the black grommet and place the eye terminal on the star wheel sensor. Tighten the eye loop with the nut on the sensor. Reinstall the star wheel cover onto the base. Tighten the grommet to create a tight seal around the wire.
Bale Rate Sensors: The bale rate sensors are typically factory installed on the right side twine guard. The sensor with the longer wire should be placed in the "FRONT" sensor hole, and the sensor with the shorter wire in the "BACK" hole. The tip of each sensor should be positioned no more than 1/4" (7mm) and no less than 1/8" (3mm) away from the star wheel teeth.
Each sensor has an LED light by the diverter. After powering up the unit, spin the wheel to ensure both LEDs turn on and off correctly. Adjustments may be needed if they do not.
Once the star wheel connection is complete, route the harness along the left side baler frame to the Dual Channel Processor (DCP), which is located next to the flywheel brake.
The end of bale sensor detects the position of the baler needles. When the needles cycle, the sensor communicates this information to the Dual Channel Processor (DCP) for job records and use with the optional Bale Identification system.
New Big Balers utilize the second position for the End of Bale Sensor.
Dimensions:
Mounting: Mount the end of bale sensor bracket (Part number 001-4648) on the ladder side of the baler (same side as the main controller). Mark and drill two 3/8" (10mm) holes. Attach the bracket using two 5/16" x 1" self-tapping screws and 5/16" flange nuts. Position the sensor 1/4" (7mm) from the needle and tighten both nuts.
Cable Routing: New BB Balers may have the End of Bale Sensor installed in the second position with excess steel trimmed. Run the sensor cable (Part number 006-7400) and extension (Part number 006-7400BBEXT) up to the Dual Channel Processor (DCP) along the ladder side of the baler. Secure the cable properly, ensuring it is out of the way of moving parts and hydraulics.
The wiring diagram illustrates the connections between various components of the system. Key connections include:
Note: The Optional Port and Data Transfer Port are not used in this application. The "(E)" indication in part numbers is for International use.
