Assembly Steps
Follow these steps carefully to assemble your MALM drawer chest.
Step 1
Attach two side panels to the base panel. Insert 4x part 118331 into the designated holes on the base panel and secure the side panels. Repeat for the other side panel using 2x part 118331.
Step 2
Insert 4x part 101345 (wooden dowels) into the top edge of the side panels. Attach the back panel to the base and side panels, aligning the dowels and securing with screws.
Step 3
Insert 4x part 101345 (wooden dowels) into the top edge of the side panels. Attach the back panel to the base and side panels, aligning the dowels and securing with screws.
Step 4
Attach the drawer slide components (148601) to the inside of the side panels. Insert 6x part 120076 (cam lock nuts) into the corresponding holes and turn them to lock the slides in place. Ensure the arrow on the cam lock nut points towards the screw head.
Step 5
Slide the back panel into the grooves on the side panels and base. Ensure it is fully seated.
Step 6
Place the top panel onto the assembled frame. Align the holes and secure it by inserting screws from the underside into the side panels.
Step 7
Attach the drawer runners to the drawer sides. Insert 6x part 110519 (cam lock bolts) into the drawer sides and secure them by tightening 6x part 110519 (cam lock bolts) into the drawer sides and securing them by tightening the corresponding cam lock nuts (part 120076, not explicitly shown in this step but implied by typical IKEA assembly) or by screwing them in directly if applicable. The diagram shows screws (110519) being hammered in with a hammer, which is unusual; typically, cam lock bolts are screwed in. Following the visual, it shows 6x part 110519 being inserted and secured.
Step 8
Attach the drawer bottoms to the drawer sides. Insert 4x part 115339 (plastic feet/caps) into the bottom of the drawer structure, likely for stability or to protect the floor.
Step 9
Assemble the drawer boxes. Attach the drawer front, back, and sides. Insert 12x part 100365 (screws) to secure the drawer components. Attach the drawer slides to the sides of the drawer boxes, using part 148601 and securing with cam lock nuts (part 120076).
Step 10
Insert the assembled drawers into the chest frame. The diagram shows the drawer being slid into place on the runners.
Step 11
The diagram shows the fully assembled MALM 6-drawer chest with drawers inserted.
Step 12
Final check of the assembled unit. The diagram shows the MALM manual and the assembled chest.
