Causes and Operator Prevention of Kickback
Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contact can cause a sudden reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator. Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar can push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator. Either of these reactions may cause you to lose control of the saw, which could result in serious personal injury.
To avoid kickback:
- Maintain a firm grip with both hands.
- Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulder height.
- Only use replacement bars and chains specified by the manufacturer.
- Follow the manufacturer's sharpening and maintenance instructions for the saw chain.
Vibration and Noise Reduction
To reduce the impact of noise and vibration emission, limit the time of operation, use low-vibration and low-noise operating modes, and wear personal protective equipment. Keep hands warm and wear protective gloves. Seek medical advice immediately if symptoms of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) appear (tingling, numbness, loss of strength, fingers turning white).
Emergency
Familiarize yourself with the product. Memorize safety directions. Stay alert. Switch off the product and remove the battery pack if there are malfunctions. Have the product checked by a qualified professional.
Residual Risks
Potential risks remain even with proper operation, including health defects from vibration, injuries from broken attachments or hidden objects, and danger from flying objects. Prolonged use can cause 'whitefinger' disease. Wear gloves and keep hands warm. Seek medical advice for symptoms like numbness, tingling, or loss of strength.

Overheat Protection
If the PCB temperature exceeds 248°F (120°C), the chainsaw will shut down automatically. Wait about five minutes for it to cool before restarting.
General Sawing Techniques
- Practice cutting logs on a saw-horse or cradle.
- Saw off lower branches first.
- Stay alert at the end of a cut as the saw's weight increases.
- Pull the saw out of a cut only while it is running to prevent jamming.
- DO NOT saw with the tip of the chain bar.
- DO NOT saw into branch formations.
- For smaller branches, place the saw's stop face on the branch and guide from top to bottom.
- For larger branches, make a relief cut from the bottom up (1/3 diameter), then cut from top to bottom (2/3 diameter). Saw longer branches in sections.
Felling a Tree
Ensure work areas are separated if multiple people are working. Trees should not be felled in a manner that endangers anyone or damages property. Notify the company if a tree contacts a utility line. Keep on the uphill side of the terrain. Plan and clear an escape path diagonally to the rear of the expected fall line (See Figure 11). Consider natural lean, branches, and wind direction.
Notching Undercut
Make the notch 1/3 the diameter of the tree, perpendicular to the direction of fall (See Figure 12). Make the lower horizontal cut first to avoid pinching.
Felling Back Cut
Make the felling back cut at least 2 inches (50 mm) higher than the horizontal notching cut, parallel to it (See Figure 12). Leave enough wood for a hinge to control the fall direction. Do not cut through the hinge. Use wedges if the tree may bind or fall incorrectly. After cutting, remove the saw, stop the motor, and retreat via the planned path.
Limbing a Tree
Limbing is removing branches from a fallen tree. Leave lower limbs to support the log. Remove small limbs in one cut (See Figure 13). Cut branches under tension from the bottom up.
Cross-Cutting/Bucking a Log
Ensure firm footing. Support the log with limbs, logs, or chocks if possible.
- Log supported along entire length (Figure 14): Cut from the top (overbuck).
- Log supported on one end (Figure 15): Cut 1/3 from the underside (underbuck), then cut 2/3 from the top (overbuck) to meet the first cut.
- Log supported on both ends (Figure 16): Cut 1/3 from the top (overbuck), then cut 2/3 from the bottom (underbuck) to meet the first cut.
- When cutting on a slope, stand on the uphill side (See Figure 17).
- Release cutting pressure near the end of the cut without relaxing grip. Do not let the chain contact the ground.
- Wait for the saw chain to stop before moving. Stop the motor before moving between trees.
Charging the Battery Pack
WARNING: Charge the battery pack fully before first use.
NOTE: Charge batteries between 32°F-104°F (0°C-40°C) and store between 32°F-77°F (0°C-25°C).
- Connect the charger to a power supply (indicator light turns red).
- Align the battery pack with the charger slot and insert it. The charger light turns green and flashes (See Figure 18).
- The charger evaluates the battery condition.
- The battery is fully charged when all four lights are on. Disconnect the charger and remove the battery.
