Inserting/Removing Memory Card

Inserting a Memory Card: Insert the memory card with the back facing up (dash cam screen facing up) into the slot until you hear a "click" sound.

Removing a Memory Card: First, turn off the device / stop recording. Gently press the memory card with your finger until it pops out.

Important: Memory cards must be purchased separately. Only Class-10/UHS-I or higher rated cards up to 256GB capacity are supported. You can choose 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB capacity cards. Before use, they must be formatted to FAT32 partition format on a computer and in the dash cam. VIOFO recommends purchasing official VIOFO custom MLC flash memory cards for better quality and longer lifespan.

Dash Cam Installation Instructions

1. Align the base with the mounting slot and slide the base to the left until you hear a "click" sound.
2. Choose a suitable installation location behind the rearview mirror on the windshield. Ensure it does not obstruct the driver's view. (Diagram shows optimal installation location and connection to car cigarette lighter.)
3. Wipe the surface of the windshield clean with a clean cloth to ensure no grease is present for the adhesive to stick. Attach the electrostatic sticker to the windshield.
4. Tear off the adhesive film and the protective film on the dash cam lens.
5. Align the adhesive pad with the electrostatic sticker already attached to the windshield. Press the dash cam gently onto it and hold for a few seconds.
6. Adjust the dash cam lens angle.
   • View the real-time image on the LCD screen.
   • Adjust the lens angle up/down according to the specific situation.

Connecting Power

Insert the car charger into the car's cigarette lighter socket. After connecting the power cable, connect the other end to the power port on the GPS mount (the USB port on the main unit can also supply power).

Important Reminders:

1. Do not install the dash cam in a location that interferes with the driver's view.
2. Install the dash cam as close to the rearview mirror as possible to ensure that scenes on both sides of the car body are covered by the dash cam's field of view.
3. To ensure clear visibility in rainy weather, the lens should be within the cleaning range of the windshield wipers.
4. Do not install the dash cam near or above the airbag panel.
5. The dash cam's installation location should not be affected by sunshade film (window tint). To ensure proper operation of the dash cam, do not install any other electronic devices around it.

Caution: Do not install the dash cam near or within the working range of the airbag panel. The manufacturer is not responsible for any injury or death caused by airbag deployment due to improper installation.

Dash Cam Usage Instructions & Operations

Power On/Off

1. When the car engine starts, the dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording.
2. When you turn off the engine or unplug the car charger, the dash cam will stop recording and power off.
3. Long press the ≡ button to turn the dash cam on or off.

Loop Recording

1. After inserting a memory card into the dash cam slot and connecting power, the dash cam will automatically start loop recording.
2. Selectable loop recording durations: 1/2/3/5/10 minutes.
3. When the memory card is full, new recording files will automatically overwrite the oldest files.
4. Loop recording files are stored in the memory card at: DCIMMovie.

Emergency Recording

1. Automatic Emergency Recording: When the dash cam is recording and detects a sudden brake or strong bump, it will automatically lock the current video to prevent it from being overwritten by loop recording.
2. Manual Emergency Recording: During recording, press the ⚠ button to lock the current recording segment. Once locked, the video will not be overwritten or deleted by the loop recording function.

Note: You can adjust the collision sensitivity in System Settings -> "G-sensor Sensitivity" option. Locked videos are stored in the memory card at: DCIMMovieRO.

Video Playback

1. In standby mode (non-recording state), press the ⚠ button to enter the playback list.
2. Press the arrow buttons ◀REC MIC▶ to select a video, then press the ⚠ button to play.
3. Press the ≡ button to exit playback.

Note: The default video resolution is 2560x1440P 30fps.

Connecting to Computer

1. Use the short USB cable included in the package to connect the dash cam to a computer.
2. The dash cam will automatically enter "Card Reader Mode".
3. The computer will detect a "Removable Disk".
4. The DCIM folder will contain two subfolders:
   • Movie (Loop Recording Video Files)
     • Subfolder: Parking (Parking Mode Video Files)
     • RO (Protected/Locked Video Files)
   • Photo (Video Snapshot Files)
5. Copy the desired files to your computer's drive.

Firmware Upgrade

Important:

• Before upgrading firmware using a memory card, it is recommended to format the card first to ensure stable read/write operations.
• Do not turn off the dash cam or interrupt the power supply during firmware upgrades, as this may prevent the dash cam from starting.

System Settings

Enter system settings by pressing the menu button (please stop recording first).

• Resolution: Resolution options: 2560 x 1600 30fps, 2560 x 1440 60fps, 2560 x 1440 30fps, 2560 x 1080 60fps, 2560 x 1080 30fps, 2304 x 1296 30fps, 1920 x 1080 60fps, 1920 x 1080 30fps.
• Video Bitrate: You can set the video bitrate yourself. For recording fast-moving objects or high-contrast scenes, you can choose a high bitrate to improve video quality and smoothness. However, choosing a high bitrate may reduce the available recording time on the memory card. For longer recording times, you can choose a low bitrate to save space.
• Video Length: Off/1/2/3/5/10 minutes.
• Exposure Compensation: Adjust EV value (exposure compensation) based on the environment to achieve the best effect under different lighting conditions. The exposure value adjustment range is from -2.0 to +2.0, with a default of 0.0.
• WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): This function automatically balances bright and dark parts.
• Parking Monitoring: Three modes are available:
  • Motion Detection: When parked, if the dash cam detects motion within the monitoring range, it will automatically start recording for 45 seconds. If no new motion is detected, recording will stop.
  • Time-Lapse Recording: In time-lapse recording mode, the dash cam records video at a low frame rate of 1/2/3/5/10fps, allowing continuous video recording without audio.
  • Low Bitrate Recording: In this mode, the dash cam continuously records video at a low bitrate of 4MB/s.

  Note: Parking monitoring requires continuous power supply. To prevent draining the car battery, VIOFO recommends purchasing the HK4 ACC hardwire kit.

• Delayed Parking Monitoring: Time to enter parking monitoring mode after the car engine is turned off.
• Parking Monitoring Duration: Set the duration for parking monitoring.
• Parking Monitoring G-sensor: When the gravity sensor detects a sudden impact (hit or collision), it will trigger emergency recording. It is recommended to set it to high sensitivity under parking monitoring.
• Parking Monitoring Motion Detection: Adjust the sensitivity of motion detection to avoid invalid recordings triggered by minor movements, such as wind or rain.
• Time-Lapse Recording: Records video by capturing frames at specific time intervals, saving memory and reducing the time needed to view videos. This function is off by default.
• Motion Detection: When this function is enabled, if the dash cam detects object movement within the front field of view, it will start recording. Once the dash cam does not detect movement for 60 seconds, recording will stop and switch back to detection mode. If the device detects new movement in front, it will start recording again.
• GPS: You can set the function to turn on or off the GPS information tag of the dash cam. If turned off, the dash cam will no longer record speed and location, nor will it synchronize time/date. (Only effective when connected to a GPS signal). Use "Dashcam Viewer" on your computer to play back videos and view location and speed.
• Speed Unit: Set speed unit to kilometers per hour (KPH) or miles per hour (MPH).
• G-sensor Sensitivity: You can set "Low", "Medium", "High" three sensitivities. This setting determines the force required to trigger emergency recording. When emergency recording is triggered, the dash cam will automatically lock the current video to prevent the file from being overwritten by loop recording. VIOFO recommends setting the sensitivity of this gravity sensor to "Low".
• Wi-Fi: Can be set to On/Off. Long press the ☍ button for 3-5 seconds to quickly turn on Wi-Fi. VIOFO recommends selecting 5GHz mode.
• Date Stamp: Display time and date in the video.
• GPS Information Stamp: Display GPS coordinates and speed information in the video.
• Dash Cam Model Stamp: Display the dash cam model in the video.
• Audio Recording: Turn on/off the microphone. You can also press the MIC▶ button during dash cam recording to turn on or off the microphone.
• Screen Saver: Set automatic screen off time. The screen will enter sleep mode.
• Delayed Power On: The dash cam will delay power on after connecting to power. You can set the delay to Off / 5 seconds / 10 seconds.
• Date/Time: Set the date and time of the dash cam.
• LED: Turn on/off LED indicators.
• Time Zone: Set the current time zone for GPS time and date calibration. Note: Daylight saving time needs to be adjusted manually.
• System Settings (Language): Screen language, selectable languages include English, Traditional Chinese, French, etc.
• Voice Broadcast: Turn on/off voice notifications.
• Button Sound: Turn on/off button sounds and power-on sound.
• Light Source Frequency: Adjust light source frequency settings to minimize flicker and stripes in recorded videos.
• Image Rotation: Set image to flip vertically.
• Screen Mirroring: Set image to mirror horizontally.
• Format Memory Card: This operation will delete all data on the memory card. Note: After formatting the memory card, all information will be deleted and cannot be recovered. Please back up important files before formatting.
• Format Reminder: Set the interval for format reminders.
• Factory Reset: Restore the dash cam to factory default settings.
• License Plate Number: Display a customized 11-digit number in the video for adding license plate information or identity features.
• User Custom Text: Display custom text in the video.
• Version Information: Current firmware version information.

Phone Playback & Operation

Using the VIOFO app on your smartphone, you can wirelessly connect the dash cam to your phone. Functions include dash cam settings, real-time recording playback, video playback, and dash cam control. After connecting the Wi-Fi to your phone, you can control the dash cam through the VIOFO app.

Turn on Wi-Fi in the menu or long press the ☍ button.

When the Wi-Fi function is enabled, the Wi-Fi status icon and password will be displayed on the dash cam's LCD screen.

Connecting the Dash Cam to Your Phone

• Download and install the VIOFO APP.
• Run the VIOFO APP.
• Turn on Wi-Fi in the menu or long press the ☍ button.
• On the VIOFO APP interface, follow the instructions to connect the dash cam.

Bluetooth Remote Control

Install the Bluetooth remote control (sold separately) in an easily accessible location, such as near the steering wheel, to avoid distracting your attention and affecting driving safety when locking videos remotely. Short press the button on the remote control, and the dash cam will lock the current video file and take a video snapshot.

Pairing with the Dash Cam:

• Turn on the dash cam.
• Long press the Bluetooth remote control button for 3 seconds to start pairing.
• The Bluetooth remote control indicator light will turn blue, indicating successful pairing.
