About This Quick Reference Guide

We have created this guide to help you get to know certain features of your vehicle quickly. It only contains basic instructions to get you started and is not a substitute for the Owner's Manual.

You must read the full instructions in the Owner's Manual along with all the warnings. The more that you know about your vehicle, the greater the safety and pleasure you will get from driving it.

INSTRUMENT PANEL OVERVIEW

The instrument panel contains various controls and displays. The following list details the functions of the labeled components:

Instrument Panel Controls

• A: Air vents.
• B: Direction indicators. High beam.
• C: Left-hand drive vehicles with voice control - Information display control; Left-hand drive vehicles without voice control – Information display control; Right-hand drive vehicles with voice control - Information and entertainment display control; Right-hand drive vehicles without voice control – Information display control.

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING

Type 1 Controls

• A: ? Unlock

• C: Luggage compartment lid unlock

Double locking with the key

Turn the key to the lock position twice within three seconds.

Double locking with the remote control

Press button B twice within three seconds.

GLOBAL OPENING AND CLOSING

You can open or close all of the power windows for a short time after you have unlocked or locked your vehicle with the remote control.

To use global opening, press and hold the unlock button after you have unlocked your vehicle. To use global closing, press and hold the lock button after you have locked your vehicle. Release the button once the power windows start to move.

? Note: When you use global opening or closing, you can press the unlock or lock button again to stop the power windows.

AUDIO CONTROL

Select the required source on the audio unit. You can operate the following functions with the control:

Type 1 Controls

• A: Volume up
• B: Seek up, next or end call
• C: Volume down
• D: Seek down, previous or accept call

Type 2 Controls

• A: Volume up
• B: Seek up or next
• C: Volume down
• D: Seek down or previous
• E: Mode

Voice Control and Information Display

Voice Control

Press the button to select or deselect voice control.

Information Display Control

Vehicles with voice control

Left-hand drive

• A: Information display
• B: Information and entertainment display

Right-hand drive

• A: Information and entertainment display

Vehicles without voice control

WINDSHIELD WIPERS

Windshield wipers

Description of wiper lever positions:

• A: Single wipe
• B: Intermittent wipe or autowipers
• C: Normal wipe
• D: High speed wipe

Intermittent wipe

Description of intermittent wipe controls:

• A: Short wipe interval
• B: Intermittent wipe
• C: Long wipe interval

The rotary control can be used to adjust the intermittent wipe interval.

REAR WINDOW WIPER AND WASHERS

Rear window washer

Description of rear wiper controls:

• A: Intermittent wipe
• B: Low speed wipe

CHANGING THE WIPER BLADES

Windshield wiper blades

Service position

The windshield wiper blades can be accessed for cleaning or replacement by placing the wipers in the service position. Switch off the ignition and move the wiper lever to position A within three seconds. Release the lever when the windshield wipers have moved to the service position.

Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)

Using the System

The system displays a yellow indicator located in the exterior mirrors.

Detection Limitations

There may be instances where vehicles entering and exiting the blind spot zones may not be detected.

False Alerts

There may be instances when the system will alert you and there is no vehicle present in the blind spot zones. For example; road guardrails or highway concrete walls.

Turning the System On and Off

You can turn the system on and off using the information display.

Information Displays

You can access the menu using the Information and entertainment display control.

Controls

Press the up and down arrow buttons [↑] [↓] to scroll through and highlight the options within a menu. Press the right arrow button [→] to enter a sub-menu. Press the left arrow button [←] to exit a menu.

Hold the left arrow button [←] pressed at any time to return to the main menu display (escape button).

Press the OK button [✅] to choose and confirm a setting.

Device list

The icon changes to show the current function in use:

• CD
• Radio
• Auxiliary input
• Phone
• Settings

Trip Computer

Distance to empty

Indicates the approximate distance the vehicle will travel on the fuel remaining in the tank. Changes in driving pattern may cause the value to vary.

Information Messages

Press the OK button [✅] to acknowledge and remove some messages from the information display. Other messages will be removed automatically after a short time.

Certain messages need to be confirmed before you can access the menus.

Message indicator

The message indicator illuminates to supplement some messages. It will be red or amber depending on the severity of the message and will remain on until the cause of the message has been rectified.

Some messages will be supplemented by a system specific symbol with a message indicator.

Manual Climate Control

Cooling the interior quickly

Description of climate control settings for cooling. Recommended settings involve directing center air vents upwards and side air vents towards the side windows.

Heating the interior quickly

Description of climate control settings for heating. Recommended settings involve directing side air vents towards the side windows.

Defrosting and demisting the windshield

When the temperature is above 4°C (39°F), the air conditioning will switch on automatically. Make sure that the blower is on. The indicator in the switch will illuminate during defrosting and demisting.

If you move the air distribution control to a position other than windshield, the A/C will remain on.

You can switch the air conditioning and recirculated air on and off while the air distribution control is set to windshield.

Heated Windows and Mirrors

Heated Windows

Use the heated windows to defrost or demist the windshield or rear window.

? Note: The heated windows operate only when the engine is running.

Heated Exterior Mirrors

Electric exterior mirrors have a heating element that will defrost or demist the mirror glass. They will switch on automatically when you switch the heated rear window on.

Bottle Holder

The vehicle is equipped with a bottle holder for convenience.

Keyless Starting

Ignition On

Press the button once without your foot on the brake or clutch pedal.

? Note: The keyless starting system may not function if the passive key is close to metal objects or electronic devices such as cell phones.

Starting with Manual Transmission

1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.
2. Press the start button.

? Note: Releasing the clutch pedal during engine start will stop the engine cranking and return to ignition on.

Starting with Automatic Transmission

1. Make sure the transmission is in P or N.
2. Fully depress the brake pedal.

Stopping the Engine When the Vehicle is Moving

Press and hold the start button for two seconds or press twice within two seconds.

Fuel Filler Door

Description of fuel filler door operation for Type 1 and Type 2. Press the door to open it fully until it engages.

Hints on Driving with Anti-lock Brakes

? Note: When the system is operating, the brake pedal will pulse and may travel further. Maintain pressure on the brake pedal. You may also hear a noise from the system. This is normal.

The ABS will not eliminate the risks when:

• you drive too close to the vehicle in front of you
• the vehicle is aquaplaning
• you take corners too fast
• the road surface is poor.

Using Cruise Control

Switching cruise control on and off

Setting a speed

Press the SET+ switch or the SET- switch to store and maintain your current speed. The cruise control indicator will illuminate.

Changing the set speed

• A: Accelerate
• B: Decelerate

Canceling the set speed

Press the brake pedal or pull the CAN switch.

Resuming the set speed

Pull the RES switch.

Economical Driving

Gear shifting

Using the highest drivable gear appropriate for the road conditions will improve fuel consumption.

Anticipation

Adjusting your vehicle speed and the distance to other vehicles without the need for heavy braking or acceleration will improve fuel consumption.

Efficient speed

Higher speeds use more fuel. Reducing your cruising speed on open roads will improve fuel consumption.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The Deflation Detection System will alert you if there is a change of air pressure in any tire. It does this by using the ABS sensors to detect the rolling circumference of the wheels. When the circumference changes, this indicates low pressure in a tire, a warning message is displayed in the information display and the message indicator will illuminate.

If a low pressure warning message is displayed in the information display, check the tire pressures as soon as possible and inflate them to the recommended pressure.

If this happens frequently, have the cause determined and rectified as soon as possible.

Apart from a too low tire pressure or a damaged tire, the following situations can affect the rolling circumference:

• Vehicle load is uneven.
• When using a trailer or traveling up and down an incline.
• Using snow chains.
• Driving on soft surfaces such as snow or mud.

? Note: The system will still function correctly, but there may be an increased detection time.

System reset

? Note: Do not reset the system when the vehicle is moving.

? Note: You should reset the system following any adjustment to the tire pressures or any changing of tires.

? Note: Turn the ignition on.

1. Using the information display control, navigate to Settings > Driver assist > Deflation detection.
2. Press and hold the OK button [✅] until confirmation appears.

Instrument Lighting Dimmer

Press repeatedly or press and hold until the desired level is reached.

? Note: If the battery is disconnected, discharged, or a new battery is installed, the dimmer will set the illuminated components to the maximum setting automatically.

Clock

You can adjust the date and time using the information display menu. Use the arrow buttons [↑] [↓] [←] [→] on your steering wheel to access the menu and make the necessary changes.

Using Start-Stop

? Note: The system is on by default. To switch the system off, press the switch in the instrument panel. The system will only be de-activated for the current ignition cycle. To turn it on, press the switch again.

To stop the engine

1. Stop the vehicle.
2. Move the gear lever to the neutral position.
3. Release the clutch pedal.

The system may not shut down the engine under certain conditions, for example:

• To maintain the interior climate.
• Low battery voltage.
• The outside temperature is too low or too high.
• The driver's door has been opened.
• Low engine operating temperature.
• Low brake system vacuum.
• If a road speed of 5 km/h (3 mph) has not been exceeded.

To re-start the engine

? Note: The gear lever must be in the neutral position.

Depress the clutch pedal.

The system may automatically restart the engine under certain conditions, for example:

• Low battery voltage.
• To maintain the interior climate.

Active Park Assist

Active park assist detects a suitable parallel parking space and steers the vehicle into the space. The system controls the steering while the driver controls the accelerator, transmission and brakes.

Using Active Park Assist

Active park assist will not align the vehicle correctly if:

• a spare tire, or a tire worn significantly more than the other tires is used
• the factory installed tire size is not used on the vehicle
• the tires skid
• you allow the vehicle to roll.
• the weather conditions are poor (heavy rain, snow, fog, etc).

To use Active Park Assist, move forwards at a maximum speed of 30 kph (18 mph). Press the active park assist control switch. Use the direction indicator lever to select searching either to the left-hand side or right-hand side of the vehicle. Drive slowly to the parking space, then follow the system instructions. Move the vehicle backwards cautiously using the accelerator and brake pedals to control the vehicle. Stop the vehicle when you hear a continuous tone.

Switching the system on and off

? Note: The system status will remain unchanged during ignition cycles.

Activate the system using the information display.

Once activated the system will calculate your alertness level based upon your driving behavior in relation to the lane markings, and other factors.

System warnings

? Note: The system will not issue warnings below approximately 65 km/h (40 mph).

The warning system is in two stages. At first the system issues a temporary warning that a rest should be taken. This message will only appear for a short time. If a rest is not then taken a further warning may be issued which will remain in the information display until canceled.

System display

When active the system will run automatically in the background and only issue warnings if required. You can view the status at any time using the information display.

The status bar will travel from left to right as the calculated alertness level decreases. As the rest icon is approached the color turns from green to yellow and then finally red when a rest break must be taken.

Lane Departure Warning

The system will automatically detect and track the lane markings on the road. If it detects that the vehicle is unintentionally drifting towards the lane boundaries then a visual warning will be displayed in the information display. There is also a warning given in the form of a vibration felt through the steering wheel.

Switching the system on and off

The system can be switched on and off using the information display.

Setting the system speed warning

The system has a number of speed warning levels which can be set using the information display.

System display

The system can display two traffic signs in parallel.

A sensor is mounted behind the interior rear view mirror. It continuously monitors road signs to alert you of the current legal speed limit and overtaking regulations.

The system will automatically detect recognizable traffic signs, for example speed limit signs, no overtaking signs and speed limit cancelation signs.

Active City Stop

A sensor is mounted behind the interior rear view mirror. It continuously monitors conditions to decide when to intervene.

The system is designed to help you reduce low speed collisions into the rear of another vehicle. It will also help you reduce the impact damage or potentially avoid the collision completely.

The system operates at speeds below approximately 30 km/h (19 mph) by applying the brakes when the sensor detects that a collision is likely.

You must depress the brake pedal to obtain full braking force.

When the system is braking or has automatically applied the brakes, a message will be shown in the display.
