Commonly Used Voice Commands

Press the voice button on the steering wheel and say commands for General, Audio, Navigation, Phone, and SiriusXM® Traffic and Travel Link.

Note: Some services may not be available in your area. Refer to the SYNC 3 chapter in your Owner's Manual or visit the website for more information.

Instrument Panel

Lighting Control: Use the dial to select lamps off, parking lamps, autolamps, or headlamps on.

Front Fog Lamps: Switch on fog lamps using the button on the lighting control for reduced visibility conditions.

Adaptive Cruise Control: Adjusts speed to maintain a set distance from the vehicle ahead. Features gap settings and can bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Adaptive cruise control with lane centering helps keep the vehicle in the center of the lane.

Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Illuminates briefly when ignition is on. If it stays on or flashes after starting, the On-Board Diagnostics system has detected a problem. Contact an authorized dealer.

Autowipers: Turns wipers on when water is present on the windshield. Adjust sensitivity using the rotary control. Can be switched on/off via touchscreen settings.

Push Button Ignition Switch: Start the vehicle by pressing START/STOP with the brake pedal applied. Press again without the brake to switch off the engine. Engine may shut down automatically after extended idling.

Heated Seats: (If equipped) Controls for heated seats.

Hazard Warning Flasher: Activates hazard warning lights.

Auto-Start-Stop: Automatically turns off the engine when stopped to save fuel. Restarts automatically when the brake is released. Can be deactivated via touchscreen.

Auto Hold: Assists while stopping at traffic lights or in jams by holding the brakes. Displays in the information display. Releases automatically when the accelerator pedal is pressed. Can be switched on/off via SYNC display.

Electric Parking Brake: Replaces the conventional hand brake. Pull the switch up to apply, press down to release (with brake pedal applied).

SYNC 3®

SYNC 3 allows interaction with features using the touchscreen and voice commands for audio, phone, mobile apps, and settings.

Using the Touchscreen: Navigate features via the touchscreen. The status bar shows home button, clock, temperature, and icons. The feature bar allows selection of system features. Some features are speed-dependent.

Using Voice Recognition: Press the voice button on the steering wheel. Press and hold for Siri on iOS devices. Available commands are in the Owner's Manual or this guide.

Pairing Your Phone: Switch on Bluetooth on your device. Select 'Add Phone' on the touchscreen, search for the vehicle on your phone, and confirm the numbers. Download the phonebook when prompted.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: Connect your device to a USB port. Certain SYNC 3 features may not be available. Enable/disable via settings menu.

Audio: Select AM/FM radio, USB, Bluetooth Stereo, and Apps. Set presets by tuning and pressing preset buttons.

Navigation: Set destinations using text entry or map screen. Adjust map view (2D/3D) and zoom. Route guidance provides turn indicators, points of interest, and ETA information.

Settings

Access and adjust system settings. Press 'i' for feature explanations.

Connected Vehicle

Connects your vehicle to a mobile network for features like tire pressure monitoring and fuel level checks via the FordPass App. The modem sends messages for updates and diagnostic information.

Comfort

Stability Control and Traction Control with Roll Stability Control™ (RSCM): Helps maintain control on slippery surfaces and prevents skids and rollovers.

Adjustable Steering Column: Unlock the lever, adjust the wheel, and lock it back in place.

Memory Function: Allows one-touch recall of personalized settings like driver seat and power mirrors. Program positions using memory controls on the driver door.

Ambient Lighting: Adjust single-color ambient lighting intensity via touchscreen settings.

Automatic High Beam Control: Automatically turns on high beams in the dark when no traffic is present. Turns off high beams when approaching vehicles are detected.

Remote Start: Start the engine remotely using the key. Press and then press the lock button twice within three seconds. Press the push button ignition switch with the brake pedal applied before driving. Turn off by pressing the lock button once.

Keyless Entry: Unlock and lock the vehicle without the key. Touch the lock sensor on the door handle to lock. Place hand between back of handle and vehicle to unlock.

Dual Automatic Temperature Control: Allows independent temperature adjustment for driver and passenger sides. Press DUAL to return to one temperature.

Moving the Rear Seats Backward and Forward: Slide seats using the handle on the front of the rear seat.

Rear Seats: Recline or fold seatbacks using the lever on the seat.

Convenience

Moonroof: Controls on the overhead console for one-touch open and close. Press control a second time to stop movement. Sunscreen opens automatically with the moonroof.

Trailer Tow: Refer to the Owner's Manual for towing information, weight limits, and safety precautions.

Wiper Operation: Adjust wiper lever for single wipe, intermittent, normal, or high-speed wipe. Rear window wiper and washer operated by a rocker switch on the end of the lever.

Manual Liftgate: Press the button inside the pull cup handle to unlatch and lift to open.

Power Liftgate: Automatic open/close. Operate remotely by pressing the button twice on the remote control or by pressing the button on the instrument panel. Close by pressing the liftgate button.

Hands-free Liftgate Operation: Move foot under and back from the rear bumper (kicking motion) with the passive key within 3 feet (1 meter). Detection area is near the hitch if equipped.

Auto Hold: Holds brakes at stops. Displays in the information display. Releases when accelerator is pressed. Can be switched on/off via SYNC display.

Pre-Collision Assist: Provides visual and audible warnings for potential collisions. Offers brake support and automatic emergency braking to help reduce impact.

Front, Rear and Side Parking Aids: Warn of obstacles with increasing tone frequency as you get closer. System turns on automatically. Keep sensors clean.

Blind Spot Information System and Cross Traffic Alert: BLIS helps detect vehicles in blind spots. Cross traffic alert warns of approaching vehicles from the sides when in reverse. Indicators and tones provide warnings.

Function

Rear View Camera: Provides a video image of the area behind the vehicle with guidelines. Obstacle Distance Indicator shows sensor zones.

Active Park Assist: Detects parking spaces and automatically steers, accelerates, brakes, and shifts gears. Can park in parallel or perpendicular spaces and exit parallel spaces.

Electric Parking Brake: Applies and releases the parking brake via a switch on the center console. Automatically releases when conditions are met.

Post Crash Alert System: Flashes indicators and sounds the horn after a serious impact that deploys an airbag.

Daytime Running Lamps: Turn on automatically in daylight conditions. Can be configured via touchscreen menus.

Wireless Accessory Charger: Supports Qi wireless charging for compatible devices. Place device on charging surface.

MyKey™: Program driving restrictions like speed limits and volume levels to promote good driving habits.

USB Port: Connect media devices, memory sticks, and charge devices.

Driver Alert: Monitors driving behavior and alerts the driver if alertness is low. Alerts are temporary or persistent based on detected alertness levels.

Lane Keeping System: Notifies or assists the driver to stay in lane through steering wheel vibration (Alert Mode), steering assistance (Aid Mode), or both (Aid+Alert Mode). Can be switched on/off via turn indicator stalk.

Keyless Entry System (SecuriCode): Keypad illuminates when touched. Allows locking/unlocking doors with a factory-set or personal code. Enter code within five seconds. Press 7-8 and 9-0 simultaneously to lock all doors.

Adaptive Cruise Control: Includes Stop and Go and Lane Centering. Adjusts speed to maintain a set gap and helps keep the vehicle in the lane.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System: Displays tire pressure readings. Warns of under-inflated tires via a warning light.

Hybrid Electric Vehicle Features

Unique Driving Characteristics: Combines electric and gasoline propulsion for performance and efficiency. Gas engine starts/stops automatically. Regenerative braking captures energy.

Silent Key Start: Vehicle is ready to drive without the gas engine running. Look for the green ready indicator light.

Pedestrian Alert System: Creates a subtle sound to alert pedestrians at low speeds.

Power Flow: Displays vehicle power settings, showing power source and usage.

High Voltage Battery: Contains high-voltage components and wiring. Do not come in contact with these components. Wiring is labeled or covered in orange.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Modes: Selectable modes include Auto EV, EV Now, EV Later, and EV Charge. EV Charge uses the engine to charge the battery.

Low Engine Use: Mode to maintain proper engine lubrication. Engine runs as necessary. Message appears in the information display if active.

Energy Saving Tips

  1. Use smooth acceleration and braking.
  2. Carry only essential items.
  3. Seasonal fuel blends can affect efficiency.
  4. Minimize idling time.
  5. Use accessories wisely, as they draw electrical energy.
  6. Check tire inflation for optimal fuel economy.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Features

Charging the High-Voltage Battery: Use the convenience cord plugged into a dedicated outlet. Unwind cord completely before charging. Plug cord into outlet before connecting coupler to vehicle's charge port. Charge status indicator shows charge level.

How Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles Work: Electrical energy propels the vehicle in plug-in power mode. System maximizes electric-only operation. Automatically switches to hybrid mode when plug-in power depletes.

Charge Port Light Ring: Indicates charge status (0-20%, 20-40%, 40-60%, 60-80%, 80-100%).

Electric Vehicle Scans: Use EV information on SYNC 3 screen for vehicle operation states, engine operation, and charge settings.

Charge Settings: View charging status, charge time, battery state of charge, and plug status. Set departure times for optimized charging and cabin preconditioning.

Essential Features

Fuel Tank Capacity and Fuel Info: Recommends regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87. Use premium fuel for severe-duty usage. Do not use fuel with more than 15% ethanol.

Refueling: Switch ignition off. Open fuel filler door. Insert nozzle into fuel system. Keep nozzle level. Slowly raise and remove nozzle. Close fuel door. Use included fuel filler funnel for containers.

Towing Your Vehicle: Refer to the Owner's Manual for towing limitations and procedures.

Location of Spare Tire and Tools: Spare tire and tools are under the cargo area floor. Dissimilar spare tire is for emergency use only.

Rear Window Buffeting: Lower opposite window slightly to reduce pulsing noise when only one window is open.
